[A young woman with red tangled red curls plastered wetly to one half of her face furrows her brow at the screen, holding it a little too far from her.]
This thing actually work?
[A beat, and her frown deepens.]
Guess I just answered my own question.
[Click! Aaaaaand she's gone. That's it? That's it.]

[Action #1]
[Shit.]
[That's the only word that races through her mind as Allie Stoklasa paces through the shallow water by her pod. She kicked at the thing a few times after hearing the message about being kidnapped and the recommendation about living a 'normal' life here. How the hell is she supposed to do that? How does anyone get ripped out of their homes, dropped into an alien social experiment, then shrug and go 'Nothing better to do than get a job, la la la!']
[Not happening. And she has no idea how to send a message to berate and cuss out these 'spirits.']
[Seriously, spirits? That's crazy. All of this is crazy. She eyes the smart phone in her box before ignoring it, digging out her own phone and flipping it open. She scrolls down to Jin Saotome's name and presses the confirmation button.]
[There's no ring tone. Not even a warning that she's going to pick up roaming charges. Shit. She almost chucks it across the room in frustration, but she might need it later. She powers it off. No telling how long before the battery runs out, and she didn't bring a phone charger with her.]
[So there's the other phone, the one provided to her. Allie frowns at it, and hesitantly digs it out of the box. The necklace is gaudy, but it might sell, so she stuffs that into her front jeans pocket. Whoever made this phone is more technologically advanced than she is, it has a lot more features and functions than her flip phone. Who made it? Is it a Blackberry? Nokia? She scrolls through the names (and there's hers close to the top), but Jin isn't on there. Apparently everyone else is a resident here--]
[Holy shit, Skeletor? What the f***.]
[Okay okay, ignoring someone with either questionable choice in user handles or particularly cruel parents, she toys with the thing and pushes the button.]
This thing actually work?
[She can see her face in a small icon in the corner, disheveled and confused. Not exactly a glamorous way to introduce herself, but who cares.]
Guess I just answered my own question.
[She shuts it off again, grumbling to herself, and tosses the phone carelessly back in the box. It's tempting to pitch the whole thing into the water, but other than the clothes on her back, it's all she has at the moment, and she isn't sure what she'll need and what she won't. She tucks the box under her arm and stalks toward the exit, right hand clenched into a fist. Her hackles are up, she's scared, she's pissed, and she needs to get the hell out of here before anything else 'normal' pops up.]

[Action #2 - Open to just one person, no multiple responders unless it's to the same thread]
[The first thing Allie is drawn to is a vehicle. It might belong to one of the names she read on the list, it might not. The list seemed to be suspiciously short, she's pretty sure way more people live in this place than what was stated. So what's up with that?]
[She walks around the vehicle, trying to size up her chances of hot wiring it the way Jin taught her. If it's similar enough to a modern Earth motorcycle, truck, or car, there's a good chance she might be trying to bust a window (where applicable) or jimmy the lock to get in (also where applicable). She works fast, waiting until she's fairly sure no one is paying attention before she attempts her theft.]
[Her motivation is easy enough: drive the hell out of here. And if that doesn't work, sell it. Ordinarily she wouldn't be quite this bold without anyone else from the gang to watch her back, but seriously, to hell with this world and its fake little society, she's not going to play by these rules. Why should she? She was kidnapped, she doesn't owe this place shit.]

In any case...]
Nice to meet you, Allie.
You can call me the Professor. Have a name. Don't prefer to use it. It's super embarrassing, you know how it is. Kids used to laugh at me.
[he's fiddling with some wires now, not seeming to have any trouble seeing despite the shades]
What is it you do for a living?
no subject
Yeah. Kids suck.
[She's had her fair share of name teasing too. It stopped when she decked the teasers on the playground, though. Worth the detention and the lectures, too.]
Gas station attendant. Nothin' fancy.
[She moves a little to the side to get a better view of his 'magic touch' at work. After all, she'll have to hot wire this thing every time she wants to ride it anywhere, so she'd better get used to it.]
Whaddya teach?
no subject
[he grins at her at the question]
What do you want to learn?
no subject
I don't.
[High school is bullshit. College is bullshit. Still...he hasn't given her a good reason to lash out and hate him, so she doesn't exactly want to dump all over his career. She shifts in place, backtracking.]
I dunno. Karate. You teach karate?
no subject
[but he smiles]
Close! Akido. Or well, not here precisely, but it is something in my purview. Why, care to learn?
no subject
[She switches the cup to the other hand as she drawls her response. Aikido. Huh. She's never heard of it before, but there's a lot she hasn't heard of. The different styles of martial arts is one of them.]
Huh? Well, I dunno, kinda. Just not right now.
[She's not going to get lured into a calm and relaxing life in this pretty prison, no way in hell. Besides, wouldn't that mean she has to beat on an old man? She might be a delinquent, but she's not a monster.]
What's up with that, you just go around offerin' education to everyone on the street?
no subject
In any case, you have a standing offer.
Ah... here we are. [the engine purrs to life. He tucks the wires away and then gets on the bike a moment, revving it] Hope you don't mind. She's beautiful. I used to have a bike like this when I was younger, you know. Grew quite attached to the old girl. But I'm sure you feel the same way.
no subject
[Or at all. How about that, this'll be her very first bike.]
How come you don't have one now? Professors make good money, so that can't be an issue.
[Then again, he's pretty much soliciting free education, so who knows.]
no subject
Here... [he opens the seat and hands her the helmet] Trade you safety for slushee.
no subject
Here.
[If she only knew. She hooks the helmet strap in her finger and passes his drink back.]
Thanks, prof. Can I drop you off anywhere?
no subject
[he slurps his drink]
Hope you find your keys soon. [they may have been dropped in the seat well]
no subject
[She shrugs her shoulders, looking at the bike again. She'll have to keep an eye out, make sure he doesn't get in trouble for this. Unlikely, since no one else is around to even see his involvement. Besides, she'll be the one riding around on it, no way he could get linked to the theft.]
See ya. Have fun with those classes.
[Allie reaches for the handlebars and slings her leg over the bike to settle herself into the seat. Feels pretty good. She plunks the helmet over her head and fastens the chin strap and takes a breath. A few revs of the engine. If his old bike really was like this one, she can kinda see why he liked it so much.]
no subject
[he'll hang back and watch her until she goes. In the meantime he is privately texting the people he knows that he's given his bike to a friend. And then to Smoker that he'll need another. Same as the first but better]
