Closed IT ISN'T A DATE OK

WHO: Lucy and Natsu
WHAT: Totally not a date. They're just hanging out. Sure.

Not a date. Not a date. It was ... kind of... a date. Which might be why she was freaking out. Actually she was in a pretty good mood considering ...she'd been making progress with one of her books lately. After considering and discarding several outfits, she finally settled on something a little nicer than what she normally wore. Then it was fussing at Cancer for hair styling until she decided to stick with something simple. She'd already prepared their lunches several days in advance, so now it was just a matter of meeting up with Natsu. Just be cool Lucy! She smoothed out her skirt, trotting off to find her partner. "Natsu..?"

Natsu could feel something was starting to feel a bit off about Lucy's behavior. It was still comforting and the touches back felt nice enough. But something was clearly on her mind.

"You haven't? I don't get what you mean." AFter all everything they'd done and talked about was truth so far. Every single thing. Natsu tried to think back to whatever she might have kept to herself but couldn't really find a thing.

Every single thing except the one thing she has yet to talk about. What she's been dancing around, avoiding for a very long time. And continuing to do so. "..." She didn't respond to his comment for several minutes, perhaps working up some kind of nerve. Except the only thing she wanted to say now was 'never mind, forget it'.

Can't say that now, he'd probably pester her until she gave him some kind of answer. Except... when she finally spoke, her voice was practically a whisper.

"You ...can't tell, huh..." Now who's being vague? "That I..."

... she loses her nerve.

"I didn't..make everything that I brought with us."

That wasn't what she wanted to say. Not even close. She kind of wants to kick herself for it too. And probably so do a lot of people. *cough*

He heard that murmur and while she did mention food, that inkling niggling at the back of his mind was telling him that wasn't the truth. After all he of all people would know the trademark taste of Lucy's cooking.

You...didn't? Which one didn't you make then?" Because whoever they were clearly fooled him. If he really were as simple as he sometimes liked to sell himself as.

She's not happy with herself in the least. Honestly why couldn't she get the nerve to say it? Obviously when she was thinking about it she panicked and couldn't do it. She still had time, but she couldn't help but think back on when Raye was saying the few days prior. It was true, she didn't know when she would get another chance - and ...

Hell, if something ever happened to Natsu before she could tell him, she'd never forgive herself. "What?" Oh right, the food thing. "Oh... um." ... ... Crap she didn't think that one through at all. He ate the skewers and there's the chicken -- what was left? Potato salad? A slice of cake? He hadn't eaten that yet. "Actually..."

Then again if he did eat it he could call her on her lie. She bit her lower lip. "That... wasn't true. It's... not what I wanted to say. The truth is..." The truth is she...needed ot say it before she could think about it and stop herself. "The truth is, I..." One, two, Three. GO! "I'minlovewithyou... dummy!"

THERE, SHE SAID IT.

.... oh god she said it.

He knew deep down. He knew she was hiding something and yet so was he. But when she floundered for an answer to his question he knew he had her. What he didn't expect her to come clean though. He was going to turn a blind eye and pretend he hadn't picked up on anything.

But then she said it. That single stence said in half the normal time one would expect. "I'm in love with you..." The words he'd hoped deep down to hear. Especially after that talk with Battler. But now he heard it from her. Not from someone who had just pieced it together. But from her.

"You...with me." He repeated slowly before reaching around and tilting her head up by the chin.

"So that's why you've acted strange all those other times." Natsu said making his conclusion based on what he had noticed up to to this point.

"I really am a dummy huh." Natsu said with a chuckle at himself before tucking his face to Lucy's neck.

"Then I guess I should tell you what I've been thinking about too." Natsu went on before closing his eyes and then opening again.

"That thing I was thinking about. Trying to figure out what it means. It's the same thing It's...a first for me. This whole love thing. But while I don't know what to do. I know that it feels right. Like it's how it should have been." Natsu continued before inhaling again.

"I'm pretty sure...I love you too. More than just a partner or friend. Which was why I was gonna try and figure it out on my own before telling you. Guess it's too late now huh." He'd given this a lot of thought clearly even if he hadn't say anything to that end.

Dangit she could have gotten off scot free? ... probably better this way. She was blushing a deep pink when she felt him tilt her head up, swallowing back a ball of nervous tension. Unable to say anything, she only nodded again to confirm his guess, uttering a choked off laugh. "...the biggest." Dummy. But so was she.

Of course his own words confirming what she'd wondered and hoped leave her breathless too. That he'd had the same feelings for her. And to think he's been thinking about that kind of thing on his own for who knows how long. But she'd had no idea too, that he was struggling with those thoughs. Still, hearing him say it made her incredibly happy - and stunned. "Natsu.." ... good god. "...we....really are dummies.." She managed a weak laugh at that.

Somwhere in another world, there is likely a pointy eared dog running around pupuuuning and throwing confetti at the inevitable that finally came to pass. For now though they'd finally gotten the biggest weights off their chest and Natsu had never felt more liberated. He loved her and she loved him back. Order be damned.

"Hahaha yeah. But I guess that's what makes it even more perfect." Natsu chuckled in earnest and actually squeezed Lucy more tightly for a moment. "That Battler guy wasn't wrong after all. Guess I'll owe him an apology." Natsu said now his voice a constant sound of confidence.

"I don't know what's really supposed to come after all of this. But right now I'm just happy to know I wasn't the only one." Natsu admitted with a big big smile on his lips.

The spirits were undoubtedly going to have a years worth of celebration. Except maybe Loke, who will probably be disappointed, but happy for them. And if he knows what's good for him he won't keep flirting with her - especially around Natsu.

"Perfect..?" She grinned, relaxing against him again. Maybe it was perfect. They had an odd relationship from the beginning, there was no way that a love confession would end up being normal. She did pause in confusion when he mentioned Battler though. "What does Battler have to do with it...?" Wait, did he talk to Natsu?

She ducks her head briefly, ".. I don't know either, to be honest." It's new territory for her too. She glanced at him, her smile matching his. "..we'll figure it out together though."

Hopefully he would obey that rule of common sense. he might have just entered a completely virgin territory now but he was already capable of jealousy even before their feelings were made clear to each other.

"Yeep~" He teased back with a grin before she asked about Battler.

"He came over to the guild one day asking for me by name. He kept flapping his mouth like he knew everything so we went out to the back and had a little chat you could say. Don't worry I didn't kick his ass or anything. Though I was close for a while." He chuckled again.

"Still after I answered his questions he quickly said that I was likely in love too and that I shouldn't let you go before it's too late like he did in the past." And he wouldn't. Lucy was his now. Well at least Juvia would stop seeing her as a love rival right?

He smiled at her answer and nuzzled under her ear.

"Sounds like a great deal to me~"

With Loke, you never know. But then he does have to obey the Dark Master Plue and now that Plue knew that Lucy -finally- admitted her feelings, he'd Punpun at Loke to behave! Yah.

She smiled happily, listening to the sound of his voice as he explained what happened with Battler, laughing, "He didn't..!" Oh man, that Battler. And yes, at least Juvia will stop seeing her as a love rival. Heck, she'd be Lucy's biggest supporter here.

Giggling a little at the nuzzling, "I guess Raye and Blake are going to be smug at me too, if they hear." And they will, she's sure. As for the rest at the guild - well they'd been saying Lucy and Natsu were in a relationship long before they actually were.

"He did. He must have thought I was leading you along without having any feelings for you. No idea how he got that impression." Totally not because Lucy told him to confront Natsu about it. Definitely not.

"Well they earned it this time no denying that." Natsu answered softly and nuzzled again. "Doesn't change how happy I am right now."

"Honestly... you'd never do something like that." At least she hadn't intended on giving him that impression. She'd been trying to convince him that they were just friends at the time. She shivered a little with a delighted chuckle at the nuzzling. "I guess so." She agreed after a moment, letting her weight rest against him more. So relaxed she was putty in his arms.

"If it's anywhere near as happy as I am.. I might just fly away." Float away on a cloud of bliss.

"Yeah. He's lucky I didn't punch him out of the bar for even implying that." Natsu said with a chuckle before hearing her delighted reaction to his nuzzling. A teasing smirk spread on his lips and he decided to try pressing his lips directly this time.

"No flying away from me. Not anymore~

Lucy chuckled softly, "He probably doesn't realize how lucky he was. If he'd made you angry I-" Oh. WELL. She just makes an odd noise somewhere between a surprised little squeak and a soft gasp when she felt his lips on her neck all of a sudden. The reaction made her blush a bit, and she cleared her throat a little. He heard (everything) nothing. "I.. I wouldn't dream of it. You'd always come after me anyway."

Oh he heard every single bit of her reaction and was making a note to himself to try attacking that weakpoint again later.

"That's right. No matter where you went, no matter how far. I'd find my way to you~"

Oh dear. Well she'd have to show him just what that felt like herself at some point too. IT was only right. Though his statement made her smile fit to split her face in half. Although it did bring up something. "...then...Natsu, do you think we'll..remember when we go back..?" All of this - granted she knew she loved him back home, but she never admitted it. And she probably wouldn't admit it either, for a long while. Heck, she hadn't admitted it for two years almost already.

"He would likely welcome it. After all having Lucy take charge like that would excite him to no end. Still he took Lucy's question quite seriously so it was hard to really make a choice of answer. So he took the middle way.

"I'd like to think we will. But even if we don't, I'm sure we'd get to this point eventually anyway. This wasn't something that just grew from us being in another world. It's something that's been going on for ages."

That would be interesting to see. As she pondered over Natsu's answer, she finally smiled widely. Shifting a little to twist herself around a little, wrapped her arms around him tightly in a hug, kissing his cheek. "I hoped you'd say that." She smiled widekly, leaning her forhead against his, "Because I completely agree."

Natsu laughed when she suddenly hugged him and kissed his cheek so earnestly happy in the moment. Seeing her like this filled his heart with such joy and happiness of his own he really had to kick his past self for taking so long to make things clear.

"Well then that's good. Because no matter where or when. You'll still be the most important girl to me~"

She almost didn't want to let go, but she did pull away, after brushing her fingers through his hair lightly. "And you're the most important guy to me." God she loved to see his smile. She paused to drink in the sight of his face a little long, and then leaned back, "It's starting to get late - we were going to have a campfire, right?"
