The device seems to be placed strategically to leave as little detail about where he could possibly be posting from; the area behind him was non-descript, except for a simple bare, wooden wall, typical to buildings in Fayren. There were no nearby windows or any decoration of any kind behind him. }

Is the concept of a 'mage guild' truly so foreign to other worlds? Other worlds with magic, of course. { Zeref had never been a part of one, nor did he have any desire to join one, but they were such an integral part of society in his world that it seems strange to him that so few others seem to know what they are. At least they exist in Fayren. } I'm curious... in those worlds in which they do not exist, what, exactly are mages expected to do? Join the military? Live as hermits? Die?

{ He's aware of more than a few worlds where mages are persecuted out of fear by non-mages, if not killed outright. }

I can but I'm not sure what you'd want to know. I was given commands but they do not tell us why. I believe the military was aimed to destroy magic though.

There was another group in my world that was prepared to destroy all magic, though it was only on a single continent, and it was a mainly a deterrent. The implication there was that they would rather erase magic entirely than lose their own power, which eventually, of course, they did.

{ Rather gorily, he might add. }

So many people from other worlds see magic as a threat. I guess it's just a bit of culture shock on my end, seeing as how important magic is to life itself in my own world.

Magic is important to life, it's what helps the planet thrive but it's also something that people don't understand. They're scared of that power, of facing what they can't understand.

[She doesn't agree with the Empire but Terra understands fear.]

I hope, one day, people won't be afraid anymore.

It sounds like a mirror image of my world. Magic is equally important to life, there, and civilization itself is based on it. That isn't to say that magic can't be dangerous, but rarely is magic itself to blame for that. More often than not, it's somebody abusing it.

{ Zeref closed his eyes, remembering something Kefka had said. }

Not from what I remember, no, but I don't know what the future of my home will be.

I've spent more than four centuries hoping the same for my world. After a certain point, it's hard not to want to give up.

I plan to help it improve if I can.
