The Contract [closed]

WHO: Zeref & Suigintou
WHAT: Suigintou finally corners Zeref, and won't take no for an answer when it comes to being her medium.
WHEN: Back-dated to after the pageant.
WHERE: On his way back to Fayren.
WARNINGS: None.

That was one of the most humiliating experiences of his life. He was sure Silver was out there watching somewhere, not to mention the rest of Fairy Tail. Mavis was one of the judges, and so was Suigintou. Zeref felt like one of those mages being chased by paparazzi from Sorcerer's Magazine; how so many other people enjoyed that spotlight was completely beyond him. One of the many reasons why Zeref shied away from the spotlight and didn't belong to any Guilds. He hated being on a pedestal, regardless of the nature of the pedestal.

Zeref's little spot near the lake in Fayren was calling to him at this point. Having gotten rid of those outfits he wore during the pageant and reclaiming his own, comfortable robes, he stayed o the side-streets of Genessia City and went down many a dark alley. Any thugs or monsters he met on the way knew well enough to stay away from him at this point; after what happened the last time, would-be muggers knew full well to steer clear of him if they knew what was good for them.

He'd be sending a message to Silver later that evening to discuss their next move. For now, Zeref just wanted to sleep. To say it had been a long day would have been the understatement of the era, at least as far as he was concerned.

He was almost to the archway to Fayren. Zeref was passing by a department store, but paused when he noticed the glass of one of the nearby windows beginning to... quiver. Like water that had just had a rock dropped into it, ripples were spreading across the panes. Zeref's eyes narrowed; he knew full well what was happening.

"I should have known you would follow me, Suigintou," Zeref said, as the rippling effect of the glass intensified, forming an N-Field door. "I'm guessing there's a reason you aren't going to just send me another message over the network?"

Suigintou stepped out of the window and then crossed her arms over her little chest, rolling her eyes at Zeref.

"Don't imagine I enjoy it. I wouldn't have to do it if you weren't used to disappearing every time I need to see you." She said that with a look that implied he should know whenever she needs to see him.

"We have something important to discuss, I believe. Something we've been postponing for quite some time now." Way to long Suigintou's liking, at least.

"That's for a perfectly noble..." And selfish, but she's not going to say that. "reason."

She hadn't wanted to explain before, and she still wasn't eager about having to do so now. Yet she felt like she was running out of time. If one of her sisters was to be brought here with her medium, she couldn't take the risk of losing her fragments of Rosa Mystica. And if the one to be brought here was Kirakishou, it could turn out to be even worse. Of course, she was putting Zeref in danger too in that case, but he was powerful and with his help, she would defeat her crazy sister, she was sure about that.

"I need your energy to be powerful enough to get back the missing fragments of my soul from my sisters if they ever come here. I need your help to be the whole and perfect daughter my Father wanted for me to become." A lie? Not really in Suigintou's opinion. She's barely stretching the truth.

"But in the meantime, it will allow me to defend myself more effectively if I get attacked. I noticed there are quite a lot of dangerous creatures around." Yes, she would try and make Zeref feel guilty about not helping her if it would work. Without any qualm. "And if you become my Medium, I shall be loyal to you."

"Yes. They do. The ones who haven't been defeated yet at least. But this is none of your concern, I shall deal with them." It was sadistic and if Suigintou hadn't been so blinded by her love for her creator, she'd probably have noticed that too.

"I don't intend to be you servant," she made a face at that. "But it's always good to have someone you know you can trust."

She sighed at his last question. "You're not paying attention, are you? I told you already: I'm only using your energy. Since you are a powerful immortal being, you have more of it than a random human being, and you're less likely to die from exhaustion." So she wouldn't have to be careful or to hold back. "But I won't be able to use your magic. Only mine. Which is more than enough anyway."
