1st Adventure | [Video]
(For those who's last image of Taichi Yagami was nothing but a shot of his goggles in the desert...cue mind-blowing, heartbreaking moment as he suddenly appears on the screen with a look mixed with seriousness and curiosity. This definitely hadn't been the place he figured he'd show up at.
Not one bit.)
...Okay. First, hi to everyone in Genessia. I know it's probably a stretch, but does anyone here know Yamato, Sora, Koushirou, Mimi, Joe, Takeru and my sister Hikari? They might have some plush toys with them that can talk and move on their own.
(Emphasis on 'might' as he doesn't even have Agumon considering the last time he saw his partner, he was Omegamon.)
Anyway...I got here during the weekend but wanted to get a grip on things first. It was...intense back home. Really intense.
I'm Taichi, by the way.

[Action]
[Still...]
[She held him as if afraid he would disappear again. Even when she felt him ruffle her hair, no doubt freeing more than a few strands from the security of her clip. Not when he spoke again. Trying to justify himself. It didn’t work, of course—she hadn’t cared about her safety then. Not that such a thing could be so easily voiced aloud without fear of argument.]
I would have...
[But she trailed off there, and as her silent sobs began to subside and she pulled back enough to look up at him, one hand still remained clutching a part of his shirt.]
Mimi’s here. [The words came as an almost afterthought, fueled by his mentioning her. Mimi, but not Sora. Although—] Takeru too.
[Action]
(He was pleased that his sister, to a degree anyway, still looked up to him. Not so much worshipped, since even he knew of his own faults and tried to work on them. He especially made sure that she didn't pick up his more rebellious ones.
He kept on stroking and ruffling her hair even when she looked up at him, Taichi's expression showing concern. If his disappearance and 'death' had affected her this badly...)
Really? (Mimi was here. And Takeru. So, only 4 of them as far as they knew.) So, only 1/2 of us. No one else?
[Action]
[But not hers; it was the crest of Hope.]
I remember Takeru mentioning Sora when he found me. But...I never saw her here.
[She never thought to ask further on it because her memories were so fuzzy of that first day, she could have easily misinterpreted what he’d been saying.]
[Action]
As Taichi held onto his sister, he noted the glint of light for that brief second. Glancing down, he saw a kind of metal which was in the shape of a heart or at least half of it.
Then he saw the Crest. But it wasn't the Crest of Light, Hikari's own symbol.
It was the Crest of Hope. His eyes widened a bit. Did they...?)
How is Takeru doing?
[Action]
[After all, he’d technically known the boy longer than she had.]
He’s fine. [All things considered.] Time here...it works differently. By the time I woke up where I did, he’d already been here for months. So he knew where to go and what to do.
[Action]
Taichi nodded, being subtle as possible with his next question. There were times he could use his head, and this was one of them.)
That's good. He kept an eye on you.
(Much like he had all those years ago.)
What about Mimi? Did she do anything...?
(That had to do with cheerleader outfits? Or however he could've worded it, it was classic Mimi.)
[Action]
He really does.
[...though, before she could expand any further on that, Taichi mentioned Mimi again. Tangent achieved.]
I’m not sure...what you mean. [“Anything” could mean...well...anything.] We’ve been staying together. The three of us. Mimi and I were in one room, and Takeru in the other. Then we moved, and the place now has three rooms...
[...which, now that she stopped to think, would have to be figured out all over again. It was a natural assumption to think Taichi would come stay with them. But that would bring their number up to four. Somebody would have to share.]
[Action]
Wait a second. You've all been staying together? In separate rooms, right?
(Ask an obvious question...)
[Action]
[She was blushing.]
[A little.]
Of course, Oniichan. Why...would you ask that?
[She had a theory. But it was the kind of theory she wasn't about to bring up herself. So, instead, she voiced a different theory.]
We'd make room for you. If you want. I don't mind having to share again.
[Action]
(His grin could've meant something else as he did bring up her pendant, though he nodded in response to her agreeing to share.)
Sounds nice. Who gets the top bunk again?
[Action]
[She looked down, Takeru’s crest gleaming back at her. It wasn’t that she’d forgotten so much as there had been so many more pressing needs to address first. But now that he was asking directly—and she knew better than to not assume his statement hadn’t been a question in disguise—her whole demeanor seemed to shift. There would be no mistaking the look of fondness as she gently toyed with the pendant.]
It was a present. [A pause, and she risked peering up at him, awaiting the reaction, as she added:] ...for White Day.
[As good as any admission. Taichi would understand the significance. Giving an obligation gift was one thing, but personalized jewelry was far from just an obligation.]
[Action]
(Taichi took in the knowledge that he'd missed out on Valentine's Day and the usual present he'd get from Hikari but at the same time...both his sister and Yamato's brother had gotten close. Very close.)
I don't have to give him my 'protective brother' speech, do I?
(He wouldn't. As far as Taichi was concerned, he gave Takeru that talk years ago when he said it was his responsibility to look after Hikari during their battle with the Dark Masters.)
[Action]
[Then a thought occured to her, and she laughed weakly. It felt good to laugh. Amidst all the heartache and uncertainty.]
Only if you want to.
[She had a strong hunch it wouldn't be quite as intimidating as Taichi would have otherwise intended it to be.]
[Action]
(Taichi allowed his 'serious' expression to melt away, replaced by a faint grin of reassurance. The 'lecture' wouldn't be anywhere near frightening as Takeru might think it was.)
When did you two realize your feelings?
Action]
I can't speak for him--[Although she could probably wager a strong guess.]--but for me...it was on White Day.
[Both voice and expression softened as she recalled the events of that day. Feeling no shame in sharing some of the details with him.]
He set up a game for me. It brought me to a few places around the city. There was a rose waiting at each destination...and also a letter. It said he had something he wanted to tell me, and that he would be waiting back at the apartment.
I knew what he meant, and I spent the entire walk back thinking things over. About everything we'd been through. Every time he's been there for me. How safe I always feel around him. And that's when I realized that I really did share his feelings.
[Action]
That's amazing. So, basically...a few weeks ago?
(The longer Taichi tried to wrap around the fact that they had literally been transported over 10 years into another world and time, the more it hurt his head. Maybe it's best to take it a day at a time.)
[Action]
Two weeks ago, today.
[He seemed to still be struggling with the timeline a little. Something she could empathize with, even with their familiarity of Worlds being out of sync with one another.]
I’ve been here since the beginning of January. Mimi was here before me, and Takeru showed up before her.
[Action]
(It might take some time, but eventually he'd get the hang of things.)
Anything else I need to know? Like how we're supposed to work even though we haven't graduated yet? (Apparently age wasn't a factor.)
[Action]
It might depend on the job, but...nobody seems to mind.
I work at a photography studio. [No surprise there.] Takeru works at a coffee shop. And Mimi...
[She had to stop and actually ponder that one over.]
...I’m actually not entirely sure what her job is, but I know she wants to become an idol here. The Professor’s been helping her out a lot with that. He even calls her his niece now.
[Action]
Doubt there are any openings for a soccer player here.
(He's not too surprised with Hikari, Takeru or even Mimi's choice of jobs. It fits them best.)
[Action]
[She gave a slightly sheepish groan, but it was in good humor. As appropriate as her and the others’ jobs were, of course Taichi would immediately think of soccer.]
[It was actually a shame she couldn’t think of any professional teams in the area. It would have suited him perfectly.]
I suppose you could always ask around? That’s how I found out about the opening at the Flash Bandits.
[Action]
Maybe sometime during the weekend? For once we don't have to do anything constructive on a Saturday.
[Action]
That's true.
Maybe I could show you around the city then?
[Action]
(At least he should. Hikari had at least 2-3 months worth experience on that front than him.)
[Action]
It’s not like the Digital World. There’s no danger here.
But...it’s not like our world, either. Strange things still happen, but they’re more...interesting? [To put it mildly.] like when our eyes kept changing colors on Valentine’s Day. And the Pokémon.
