[Video] The Magic of Magic

[A young lady appears on screen, the background being a pretty bed covered in stuffed animals.

She had a question on her mind, something only curious about and she can't remember if she got an answer to it.]

I've been curious. Would someone be able to use magic normally denied to them if they had some sort of catalyst? Like a relic with a spell written inside?

I want to learn more beneficial schools of magic at my new school, or as extra curricular activities.

Hmm~? That's a curious question...

Perhaps? Though, the way I see it... It would be like having a flashlight, but needing the right kind of batteries. Some magics may not be able to power your relic anyway. At least, in my experiences.

I see how that could be tricky. In this case, I was thinking I would be that battery.

But I would need a relic to power with my magic that the, umm...

[She'd rather not talk about the guests she has living in her natural mana.]

That is my basic understanding, yes. Of course, I'm speaking in a very general way. I would be curious to see how any relics you came across would react to your magic.

Similarly, how your magical powers differ from those of others... Is magic what you're most interested in?

I would need to figure out where to find relics or catalysts... That's probably going to be the hard part.

I'm interested in a lot of things, actually. But with the last threat from Castlevania, I figured it was time to start looking to magic again. For my own safety...

I do think that's admirable of you.

But I would focus on your own magic first. Instead of learning new techniques, is it possible to use your own techniques in new ways?

I don't know... Martial arts from my home are very adaptable and can "evolve."

My magic is very linear and seems to be... "Absolute." I'm sorry... I don't know if I am making sense...

[The strongest forms of her magic are absolute, at least. She's not sure if her weaker ranks are adaptable.]

So it's not as if you can control water, then decide to freeze or evaporate it? Something more specifics?

[Anastasia idly strokes her hair thoughtfully. Hmm...]

It's a bit different. If elements were people, water and ice are two separate people.

[To demonstrate, Anastasia weaves wispy, ribbony strings of mana until they condensed into a water ball in one hand, and a ice ball in the other. After a few moments, they disappeared.]

I understand if it's bit of a unusual concept, given how water and ice are two states of the same thing. But this is essentially what I mean by how my magic is more linear and absolute.

Anastasia has done something dangerous: Gotten Uai's full, curious cat attention.

He seems to bubble up with excitement after the demonstration.]

So it's less a matter of the compound, and more a case of the speed at which the molecules move? Could you use Ice magic to cause other things to slow down, like they're frozen? Or Water magic to make something melt... Or would that be Fire magic? Wind because of evaporation?

[Ana may be one of the few people to see his this excited in Genessia.] Or is your world ruled not by traditional science, but magical elements? This is unusual~!! I like it!

[That's okay. Anastasia is very curious too.

Well... I can use my magic in combinations... My Ice can freeze, and using it again can "shatter."

Fire burns, Wind interrupts...

Magic theory is a fun hobby of mine~ Catalysts, relics, rituals, foci, etc. All of these can be used, but it depends on the nature of the magical systems in play, as well as how you tap into magic in the first place.

So starting there, how do you use magic?

You mean like how you loaned me the magic book? Are you looking for more magic books?

By way of an art form called Mana Weaving.

[Anastasia demonstrates by circling her finger around. A faint, wispy ribbon of energy can be seen trailing her finger.]

If it's a hobby, might you know of a catalyst that can work for me?

I have been able to use Grimoires as catalysts since they had various incantations to strengthen my magic power.

I suppose, in a way, I am looking for something similar.

Speaking of... Shiro, have you learned anything from that book I loaned you?

Possibly. I might have to visit and watch you preform a little so I can have some quantitative data for you.

[It's only the part about him visiting that is slightly unnerving.]

[Arro steps down a path from one of the small clusters of woods, looking more like someone well-to-do who had lost his way from his suit's indication. It was a modern cut, marking him from outside of Fayren with his shopping habits, at least.]
