I've been curious. Would someone be able to use magic normally denied to them if they had some sort of catalyst? Like a relic with a spell written inside?

I want to learn more beneficial schools of magic at my new school, or as extra curricular activities.

Hmm~? That's a curious question...


Perhaps? Though, the way I see it... It would be like having a flashlight, but needing the right kind of batteries. Some magics may not be able to power your relic anyway. At least, in my experiences.

But I would need a relic to power with my magic that the, umm...

That is my basic understanding, yes. Of course, I'm speaking in a very general way. I would be curious to see how any relics you came across would react to your magic.

Similarly, how your magical powers differ from those of others... Is magic what you're most interested in?

I would need to figure out where to find relics or catalysts... That's probably going to be the hard part.

I'm interested in a lot of things, actually. But with the last threat from Castlevania, I figured it was time to start looking to magic again. For my own safety...

But I would focus on your own magic first. Instead of learning new techniques, is it possible to use your own techniques in new ways?

I don't know... Martial arts from my home are very adaptable and can "evolve."

My magic is very linear and seems to be... "Absolute." I'm sorry... I don't know if I am making sense...

[The strongest forms of her magic are absolute, at least. She's not sure if her weaker ranks are adaptable.]

Magic theory is a fun hobby of mine~ Catalysts, relics, rituals, foci, etc. All of these can be used, but it depends on the nature of the magical systems in play, as well as how you tap into magic in the first place.

So starting there, how do you use magic?

I have been able to use Grimoires as catalysts since they had various incantations to strengthen my magic power.

I suppose, in a way, I am looking for something similar.

That's something people can do, yeah.

As a matter of fact, I make charms that work like that. Albeit it's less "magic I can't use" and more "magic other people can't use" or "magic I'd rather charge up now and use later without tiring myself".

Mostly the former, though the latter can happen too. Some people use it almost exclusively to channel their magic, like some people do for a staff.

Well I dunno, what kind of magic can you not use?

Depending on the magic, I could make a charm for it, but it would be a very specific spell with a limited number of uses.

Ah...think it might depend on the magic type. Some magic can be written on scrolls an' used by others.

But..not all can. Some is strictly internal in nature.

Ah get that feelin', though. Ah want to learn more myself, since Ah can't use my magic here for some reason.

[Even as much as she can do without it, she wants to be able to heal or manipulate wind like she can off this world. It's a weird feeling, going from being able to use it finally to having no access whatsoever.]

Hmm... My magic probably falls into the "internal in nature" part...

I have a Book of Illusions, but I haven't been able to use anything from it. So I loaned it out to a friend to see if he can make use of it.
