Hello?

[The voice is that of a teenage girl, cautious but at least trying to show willing in this strange new place. There's a pause, then, as though she hasn't fully figured out what she really wants to say - does she mention where she was supposed to be? Does she mention the Shadows?

Eventually, she finds her voice again.]

Um...this is kind of new to me so I'm not really sure where to start. I got the welcome message and the map and all but...is there anything else I should know?

[That should be broad enough to get something helpful, she hopes.]

[Considering she'd been gearing up to head into the deepest depths of Mementos last she remembers, Ann's really not sure what to make of all this. She's in her regular clothes, so wherever she is she's not considered a threat right now at least, but she's not sure whether that should be comforting or worrying.

Still, she's not going to figure anything out by staying in one place so she figures she should at least go to check out where she's supposed to be staying right now. She's aware it could also be a trap, but so long as she goes into it expecting that, maybe it'll lead to some useful information.

At least, that was the plan. It's not that she doesn't know how to follow a map but when a girl stumbles across a mall, she can't be blamed for wanting to take a look around, right? Even if she can't really buy much, just the act of looking should be enough to help calm her down. And once she's done with the mall, she has to see what else is around, right?

And so she can be found looking in various store windows, lingering longer when she spots a cute outfit she can't help but want. The real danger, though, is when she reaches a bakery with a range of desserts that's just begging to be sampled.]

I shouldn't...but just one couldn't hurt, right?

[She's not addressing anyone in particular but that's not to say she goes unheard, either...]

No, I am saying it's because they could be really good that you would want more.

[He couldn't help but laugh slightly.] Some bakers and such can do such a thing, after all.

Oh! That makes a lot more sense.

[She can't help her nervous laughter, because look at her jumping to wild conclusions when there's a perfectly reasonable one right in front of her.]

Still, that is a good point...one might not hurt unless I couldn't stop at one. I mean, it does feel like a not-stopping-at-one day but I don't even have a job here yet so I probably shouldn't get too carried away.

[And why she's laying it all out to him she doesn't know, beyond that he's there and she's flustered.]

You still have to eat and you get given money when you first arrive.

[Which is mostly to help them settle, which included actually getting food if they needed to, at least that is what he figured anyway.]

So one won't hurt at least. Means you ate when hungry, which is always good.

So...it's okay if we decide to spend it on stuff like this?

[Ann had figured that money was meant more for things like groceries and Actually Proper Food over indulging a sweet tooth but if she's being told they're not that restrictive over what that money's for then that changes things somewhat.]

I mean...I guess I'm not sure how they'd track that anyway but they really don't mind?

It is. I'm not sure why it would be considered a bad idea.

[He shook his head slightly. He was pretty sure in his answers at least.]

It's your money, no one else, so honestly you do whatever you want with it.

Well...I suppose that's true.

[She's just not used to having to manage her own money without some sort of safety net.]

Well in that case...I guess I have to make a decision now, huh?

[He nodded slightly. A slight smile.]

If you want to save money, there are places that have offers. I'll always be happy to show you.

[It was the one thing he knew well enough because of his own business.]

Oh really? Are they just as good? I mean, not that I've even bought anything here yet but they look good.

[And she's not sure it's a good deal to get more if the more wouldn't be as nice as what's in front of her here.]

I think most places are good, honestly. Mine is better but really most places are decent.

[There were maybe one or two places he wouldn't suggest, but those ones were rather obvious.]

But there is a place down the road here that has a couple offers.

You have a bakery too?

[Is she upsetting him by eyeing the competition? She thinks he's probably okay with it but hey, it's not like it's an effort for her to look at more bakeries.]

Well, maybe I'll look there for today. Then once I get settled I can come by your place.

Cafe's more than a bakery.

[He laughed slightly, in all honesty, he knew people have their favorites or places they prefered and he didn't mind. He still got customers either way. Plus it helps their businesses too.]

It's always good to explore and see what you like best.

Oh! Right. Of course. Still sounds like somewhere I'd like to come and visit.

[If only because she figures it's a way to repay his kindness, even if that was only encouraging her to do what she planned on doing anyway.]

Then I hope to see you around someday.

[Fai smiled slightly as he walked, soon pointing out a place, the place he had mentioned before.]

I believe this is the one I was on about.

[Ann takes one last look at the display she'd been at before and then follows as he walks, following the way he points to a similar place not too far away.]

You know, this could get dangerous. I mean, I'm going to have to sample them all at some point.

Just make sure to pace yourself then.

[He felt like that was good advice to give really. Can't have too much in one day because he knows what could happen. Even if Fai works with food all day.]

Maybe try one or two places a day.

That sounds like a plan! If I have one a day, that's not too excessive, right?

[And that way she doesn't feel like she's being denied either. Everyone wins!]

Not to me anyway.

[Considering he has to try his own creations daily just to check if it's the right balance of flavours and such. No problems with eating a bit a day.]

But I should leave you to try out the place I showed you.

[But for now, she has this place to try and she doesn't want to either take up more of his time or hold back on finally getting something sweet for herself.]
