First Lance ↑
[So Nephenee has been meaning to make a post to introduce herself. She really has! But, well, the Sentinel tends to hole up and be shy when she's in an unfamiliar area, and added to the fact her first wedding anniversary was the 11th, she's been...not wanting to talk to a lot of people, beyond Leanne and maybe Dove and a few others.
After a few days to mope about that, Nephenee's gotten tired of said moping, and finally decided to say hello to people! So here's an awfully tall woman sitting on the edge of a bed with green hair spilling out from under a blue billed-hat, in a dark sapphire blue dress that, even below knee-length, is still framing a pair of very nice, muscley legs. The lovely image is in stark contrast to the lance on the bed, silver shining in the light coming in through the window. When she finally speaks after adjusting things with the camera, it's with a strong country accent that's warm and friendly.]
So, been here for a bit, but jus' now got 'round to introducin' myself. Apologies, kinda had some stuff to take care of.
[Perhaps that's a bit of an understatement. Regardless, she smiles, even if it doesn't quite reach her eyes. It's a little bit of a sad smile, even as she rubs at a tattoo of rowan berries right above her elbow.]
My name's Nephenee Knight, Sentinel of Tellius an' Princess o'Compassion in Equestria. But no one needs to treat me special 'cause o'that. Ah've been a farmer an' soldier far longer.
This..ain't my first rodeo, gettin' tugged into another world. So Ah'm a lil' used to this, but Ah do got some questions. Ah'm afraid brochures an' holograms only answer so much.
[There's no telling how old those are, either, or if they've ever been updated.]
One: How long folks been gettin' brought here?
Two: Has there been any communication between folks an'..Ah dunno, an entity outside that barrier? Like signs or maybe weird writing in places?
Ah'm also lookin' for trainin' buddies. Ah'm best versed in lancework, but Ah've learned swords an' axes an' hand-to-hand an' some others, too.
Ah need a place to work, too...Ah can do a buncha stuff, so Ah'm not picky. 'Slong as Ah can afford a roof over my head an' food an' clothes, Ah'm good. So if got a lead on that, Ah'd appreciate it.
An' if anyone knows where can Ah get a tattoo touched up...that'd be nice.
Oh, an'...if anyone sees either of these two, let 'em know Nephenee's here.
[And she holds up a small smartphone not entirely different than the one she's using for the video, and there's a picture of her with a tall, handsome man with long black hair and striking green eyes wrapping an arm around her waist, and a small blue-haired fairy in front of them both, grinning brightly. They're all smiling, actually, clearly very happy together.
There's an edge of sadness to her voice now as she speaks.]
...Bein' apart from family's hard, ain't it?
[And just before she can get too upset, she quickly ends the feed.
Gods, she misses them.]

[ Remilia's voice goes a little quieter. ]
...Yes. It is.
[Video] a few minutes after the post
She's grown up a bunch. When we first met, she was so little. Can't believe she's gotten so tall. She's still tiny as a filly, though.
[She notices Remilia's voice change, and she tilts her head slightly. She can't remember what Cirno's told her about the vampire...]
Do ya have family back home too, Miss Remilia?

In order:
First, I have been here for roughly three years, off and on. Secondly, I am unsure if we have had contact with those outside of the barrier, but I know that there are explorations and such being taken to unearth the secrets this place has. I am sure that you will find a lot of training partners to practice against as this place has a healthy amount of fighters, which I am sure you could volunteer for if you would like.
For work, there are a lot of places that are hiring around here. Off the top of my head, I believe you could work under Fayren Royal Guard as an Arms Instructor or at the Sand Gym as a Personal Trainer. I believe the Second Honnoji Academy is also hiring for Combat Instructors, too. In short, there will be someone out there who will take your skills.
Thirdly, I am not sure if we have any tattoo artists around, but if I know of any, I will be sure to tell them about you, same as your loved ones.
[ She has chosen to pointedly ignore the last question since it's been ages that she's seen her own family, sadly enough. ]
Video
As for how long the world's been up to this kind of thing, it's...mm. Hold on.
[A quick check of the history of the log system annnnd...]
Five years, that we know of. I've been here for three of them.
If you don't mind something less than personable, there's an automated system that can set you up with the job that'd tailor itself to your talents best.
Aheh, it can be, but there's something to be said about leaving one's nest.
[And princess of Compassion? Of all virtues, that one has to be the most dangerous. This woman must be severe, he thinks.]
Video, a few minutes after the post proper
Thanks, got the surname when Ah married. An' yeah, Nephenee's not even a common name where Ah'm from. It's from 'nefen', an old word for marigolds. So it means Marigold, but also means 'valour', from the meaning of the flower itself.
[The bit about the length of time is a bit sobering, and she tugs at her hair.]
That's even longer than Ah was in Equestria...that wasn't even three...an' we were able to find out what kept us. Guess they're more careful to not expose themselves...
[It's not said as a derisive comment as to people getting things done, merely an observation. There's a muttering to herself, not audible, but she's clearly thinking.]
Ah didn't know there was an automated system...might use that to see what's available along with the suggestions folks been givin' me.
[Her brow furrows a little at the mention of being away from her nest, and some of the melancholic air returns, though more thoughtful this time. She can understand how some may feel that way, but...]
If it was my first time away from my birth family, maybe. But it's my husband an' one o'my sisters...less leavin' the nest, more leavin' a piece o'me behind.
[Quite the opposite, but he can be forgiven for thinking that. Besides, she didn't pick the nickname :P]
Re: Video
Darn; she comes pre-shipped.]Oh! Well then, that's very lovely too.
[Someone's into flowers, especially that one, referring in the English world to the Virgin Mary. Which would lead into the sorrow of losing family, as she did. What a tragic, if significant, web of meaning. Excuse him while he spaces out about it for an awkward moment.]
...ah, right. I can send you a link, if you like. They really ought to make mention of something so useful along with the rest of the introductory material. I've not known it to steer any wrong yet.
Ah, the family of which you're a founding member. My apologies. Suppose we're all deprived of context; would I knew a surer sop to sorrow than comedy.
