[Ada like to think after a week of being here she would have figured out how to finally use the device. Sort of. She had figured out how to use video, but since she never used it hasn't fully sunk in that she should maybe move it a bit further back. She'll probably figure that out later or at least while she adjusts it now and again.]

Good morning... I'm not 100% confident that I am holding it correctly, but I am figuring it out as I go. [She smiles slightly.] A device like this is not what I was used to before I arrived. [A paused, she had a reason for this. She moved to bow slightly. She was being polite.]

But I figured I should at least introduce myself to everyone here. My name is Ada Vessalius and it is a pleasure to meet you. [She soon stood up straight, hands still firmly holding the device.]

I arrived around a week ago and I am still getting my bearings, but I am asking for something like a tour guide more than anything. To show me around and explain things that I might not fully understand. [She glanced away for a moment.]

I've already explored a bit, but there are certain things that I don't know which is why I am asking. I want to understand this place much more. [She also may of started her occult collection here but that is a story she isn't going to be open about any time soon.]

I will reward you for you kindness if you are to help. Thank you for listening.

I'm assuming you have been to the Welcome Office already but if you're looking for something more about Attleton, you're welcome to drop by the Guardian's office. We are always happy to help new arrivals find their way around our town.

Yes, we are busy, but assisting people is part of our duties, we don't mind.

[ And they like to keep an eye on who is hanging around their town, it's a convenient way to get to know pendant bearers showing an interest in Attleton. ]

Personally, I don't mind visitors accompanying me when I patrol on foot, it's a good way to show them our town while doing my job.

We are elected to be in charge of security matters, and can to some extent make policy decisions in matters of law enforcement. What our work exactly entails differs from town; in Attleton it means that we are mostly doing day-to-day police work. In cities with a large standing police force, it's oftentimes more of a supervising position and dealing with the specific problems pendant bearers cause.

They aren't the only source of problems, of course, you've got regular full-scale slaughter in Everglade when gangs clash, and that's locals. But pendant bearers have a far higher percentage of people with powers which could literally destroy an entire town in one fell swoop. I wouldn't say they are bad but if they are bad they are harder to contain.

Especially since they're not bound to the places equipped to deal with them. Say, a local criminal in Nova City will be causing trouble with robots or cyborgs, which Nova police is trained to handle. With a pendant bearer it will be just your luck that they attack your anti-robot riot squads with ice magic or vampire powers.

Yes, you did. These are the main security problems we are facing in regards to pendant bearers.

There are other problems relating to them but these can be traced back to them being more often affected by events.

No, that's quite alright. [ He snorts. ] It's actually a pleasant change to talk to people who ask questions instead of those who believe they can lecture us on what we should have been doing all along.

Every couple of months... something happens here, something affecting the place or the people or both. Something other than magic spells or attacks by inhabitants, that is, but rather things which as far as we know are caused by this place.

It can be as benign as when every building in Everglade turned into candy or it could have you replaced by an evil, mass-murdering doppelganger. These things usually pass within a week or two but the damage is done by then.

It's alright, I'm sure there are many people here who would enjoy to speculate with you. I'd never run into magic until a year ago so I'm afraid I'm the wrong person to have a discussion with, but if you ever come to any interesting conclusions...

[ Cassian's "magic skills" are pretty much limited to discerning which more qualified person he needs to call to deal with a specific problem. That's okay, most of them wouldn't know how to fly a ship safely through hyperspace. ]

I've thought about technological solutions as well but if it's tech... It's so far outside anything we are capable of in my galaxy, and we can destroy entire planets with one blast.

[ His lips twist into something far too bitter to be called a smile. ]

My galaxy is very skilled at building weapons of mass destructions. It's an ongoing trend. I've been told it will outlive me by far. I would hope your home is famous for something a little more palatable.

That is lucky. I envy you for it. Hopefully you won't need to worry about such things here either.

But if there's anything else I can help with, feel free to contact me again.
