Attleton Guardian Team Office Party!
WHO: Attleton Guardian team, any official healers or really anyone who happens to drop by.
WHAT: There's been some staffing changes, they need to mingle and get to know each other.
WHEN: May 4th
WHERE: Attleton Guardian Office
Presumably, Dorothy went home, or wherever it is people go when they're no longer in Genessia, and while that was sad, the vacancy had to be filled.
The idea of spending time getting to know one another was probably more appealing than really, really boring paperwork, and so it wasn't too hard to convince people to do that.
There was a small selection of juice and water, maybe even soda on a table and a few pastries, cookies and chips. A space vegetable platter may have gone mysterious missing, so it looked like there was only junk food around.
Music was playing from an mp3 player through some speakers, thanks to Demyx who was putting his Christmas gift to good use, however one could expect the music to swing from classical to rock on a dime, his tastes were a tad eclectic.
All in all, it was probably the best day to visit the Guardian office in Attleton.

OTA
Okay so, that's not exactly socializing or getting to know his co-workers but he will get to that later. Maybe. Probably. He sure won't ignore anybody who feels like coming near him or ask him anything.
Re: OTA
[ Cassian's not the best at being social either, and Dorothy has been so much more than just a co-worker for the two of them, so he doesn't hold it against Kay that he finds it hard to socialize. He joins him at the fringes of their small party, giving him a friendly shoulder bump. ]
It's strange, isn't it? People coming and going... There have been so many changes in less than a year.
[ Not unusual, with the high death rate they had in Intelligence, but then they didn't work day for day with these people before they disappeared. ]

[Kay's attention goes to Cassian and Stardust makes a small, chattering sound as well come before running up the droid's arm to sit on his shoulder. He's glad is Cassian because he doesn't have the energy to fake happiness and his boyfriend would understand that.]
Strange and unpredictable I tried to run calculations, make theories and I came up empty. I don't like it.

There's no... Things change so fast. Even faster than at home. And we can't do anything about it. Being good isn't enough.
[ He frowned. At home they'd at least some control over their fate. Be smart enough, be fast enough, be ruthless enough, and you could improve your chances to make it home again. Here... it's just roulette. ]
no subject
No is not. But Dorothy was alive in her world, she had someone she cared deeply about. At least she will be able to see them again.
[Kay raises his free hand to brush a finger against Cassian's cheek in a soft caress.] We still have each other.
no subject
[ His eyes flutter shut and he leans into the tiny caress, giving himself a moment to bask in the tenderness. If they were at home he too would want to hide in his arms but he does have to keep an air of professionalism as Guardian. Tiny touches, it is. ]
She will finally be reunited with the people she left behind... though they didn't all appreciate her as much as they should.

[Not like seeing them cuddle instead of being sad won't give an impression. But almost everyone in the city has seem them already due to their accidental video. Kay moves close to Cassian and Stardust takes the opportunity to jump into Cassian's shoulder.]
They did not but that could change. The future is unknown for those who have one.

[ And now he's still being somber. He sighs, a little annoyed with himself though he knows it's not easy for him to shake off melancholic thoughts once they've gripped him. ]
But you're right, we shouldn't be mourning today. That's unkind. And I don't want Satou to feel like she isn't truly welcome.

[Thinking about it now, it brings more comfort to Kay that he can express. He's good with numbers, algorithms, and statistics. Mysticism and religion not so much. And yet, there are a few things he knows to be true.]
Most people believe that droids are just machines. We are built not born and we shouldn't have souls. But I died. Twice. And twice I came back.
[Leaning into Cassians space slightly, his voice lowers. He doesn't want others to hear them but it's important that Cassian hears this.]
If there is something bigger than us, across realities, across the worlds and the time stream, and it it allows me to...I'll always find you.
no subject
Promise?
[ There is a conspicuous sheen to his eyes before he blinks it away. ]
I'll wait for you. [ Kriff keeping up appearances, he leans his forehead against Kay's chest. Years, he had learned from both Marco and Micaiah. It could be years. It could be meeting your lover again, only to not be remembered, and waiting more years. ] No matter how long it takes.
no subject
[The workplace is really the least romantic place to have this conversation and kay would give Cassian a sheepish look if he had a proper face to do so.
Or he would uncharacteristically blush because Cassians' promise is one he has no doubt the man will keep. Kay's hand goes to Cassians' waist, pulling him near.]
Thank you, love, I...[That's as far as he makes it before Stardust start chittering at them, sounding far less pleased than before. oh, the Joltik know them well enough to tell when they're getting all lovey-dovey and they're not here for that! They're here for the free cake and Stardust would like some!]
no subject
[ His eyes find Kay's optics again and he reaches with his free hand for him again, letting it linger for just a moment on his hip. ]
Let's continue this tonight... Once the pokemon are in bed. But for now he's right, we should really go and socialize.

Kay tilts his hips towards Cassian before nodding in agreement.]
Okay. The new girl you hired seems nice.

"What's up?"
He thought that usually Kay would be a little more enthusiastic about things, but he couldn't pinpoint what was going on. Bothering him maybe?

"Sorry. Uh..." He pointed. "Should I go talk to someone else then?"
Was that what Kay meant?
no subject
"Oh no, no...sorry. I like talking to you, Demyx. You're family."
no subject
"I guess, since we all live together. Is that what family is?"
no subject
It did not bother Demyx but it makes Kay worry that the young man thinks it's an okay thing to happen. "The concept is a little more complex than that. You need to care for the other person, not only share a living space."
no subject
"No, we're not fighting, he's just always like that. He thinks I'm annoying."
He hummed thoughtfully. "Maybe. I don't remember the family I had before I was in the Organization much. Less now than..." He shook his head. "I guess it doesn't matter since I lost them already."
no subject
"Ah, perhaps he's just grumpy like Cassian or Mordecai." One day Kay needs to talk more to Demyx's friends, all the people from his same world seem very...special. "I'm sorry about that. But do you like living with us?"
no subject
He smiled and shrugged. "Yeah he's always been grumpy. I'm used to it!" Demyx said cheerfully. "And yeah, I like it. That's okay right?"
no subject
Kay himself was still getting to know her but she seemed nice. And more people with magic powers was always useful. "Then he might get along with Cassian, they can be grumpy together. And yes..." Kay reached out to ruffle Demyx's hair. "...it's okay."
no subject
"He might. He's always been like that. He's super serious, right? So he's just weird." Seriousness was not his strongest trait.
"Ack!" Demyx let out a noise of protest when Kay went for his hair. "Not the hair!" He was laughing a little though, so he wasn't too mad.
no subject
"Serious isn't always weird. Cassian is also very serious but it's because of his uprising. Do you know Zexion well?"
Kays optics get brighter in amusement and Demyx complains about his poor hair getting ruffled. He does it for a few more seconds before taking pity of him. "I think it looks good this way too."
