I've been thinking, lately. Certain... circumstances have changed.

{ Zeref is seated in the Genessia City library, the necklace propped up against the spine of another book. Zeref isn't reading something; he's writing. The book is, so far, unremarkable in design; the spine is blank, and the writing on the pages, so far, is written in a language that resembles pictographs and runes more than actual words. But then again, it's just the first page. If one looks closely, however, they can spot a ring on his right ring finger, with a distinct rose-shaped jewel. }

I and two others are looking for a new place to live. One that is, preferably, away from others, and isn't made of wood.

{ Zeref pauses in his writing. }

And... it must have accommodations for demons and a living doll.

{ Something Zeref would usually never ask for - especially not publicly - but in this case, he doesn't have much of a choice, anymore. }

Demons?

[Who was she to judge someone's company? She could cause a damage that can surpass a low-class demon. Heck, her baby brother was called a monster on most if not all occasions.]

{ A rather curt response, one that should indicate that he doesn't want to share too many details. It's a rather touchy subject to him, after all. }

I haven't. What can you tell me about it?

[Temari simply nodded at the response. Ninjas were just as secretive for the most part.]

If you are in the company of demons, that tells me you are capable and strong. Everglade is a challenging place to live as it is filled with similar creatures. But for the most part, they mean no harm to the inhabitants.

The light fixtures on the streets should inform you if any dangerous creatures are close. So that should allow you to prepare.

The city is filled with houses that match the eerie city. If you search well enough, you can find a mansion to call your home for an affordable price. You just need to make sure you have someone with you who is handy when it comes to house repairs. Since most of the houses in Everglade are old.

I don't like to brag.

{ But, well, his reputation is very, very well-earned. Just about everything bad that has happened in his world in the last four centuries can be somehow traced back to him, either directly or indirectly. Even if he absolutely hates himself for it, the only thing he seems to hate more now are the humans who refuse to learn from his mistakes, or from history in general. }

It sounds unpleasant. { Exactly the kind of thing Tartarus likes. Suigintou? Not so much. } But I'll look into it.

Neither should anyone, unless they have the right to do so. Power is power. Skill is skill. What you chose to do with it is what matters most. But it would still be wise to keep people informed that they should never touch you.

Not really. It can be frightening, but the location itself can provide enough protection if you would need it. In fact, I hear one of the basketball players of Genessia lives there. He doesn't have super powers or anything, but he seems to be living quite well there.

My magic isn't always under my control. { It seems to have a mind of its own when it chooses to activate without his input, but when it does... } I'm aware of this. That's why I usually choose to live alone. That's not possible anymore.

{ Sorry, that's a term he doesn't recognize. }

'Basketball?'

First of all, learn to control it. It's hard. [She remembers her baby brother, Gaara. It wasn't his choice to have the Shukaku inside him. But he learned to control it, no matter how hard. Even if he had to sacrifice sleep so that the Shukaku will never gain access to his subconscious.] There must be a way.

And secondly, I think it is much better to be with a small unit of friends, family or teammates who can support you whenever you need it.

I'm not sure. But from what I see, they have this ball they bounce off the ground, throw at each other and try to place in this elevated area. I'm not really sure what the purpose is, but the people here seem to cheer him on.

There is, but the only way to do so is to no longer see any value in the lives of others. { Which, for rather obvious reasons, defeats the purpose of him wanting to control it at all. He'd almost certainly still be killing others, only now he'd be doing it on purpose instead of by accident. }

That sounds like something Lucy would say. { A sigh. } The closest thing I have left to family are the demons I mentioned. And to put it lightly, they don't like humans.

{ Zeref himself not included, of course, but whether or not he can even be considered human anymore is a matter of perspective. }

Then that would be a moral question. But in my opinion, one brutal is not as bad as an endless array of brutality and death. If there is a means, I think it would be advisable to take it. But that's just my thoughts. There's no need for you to change your mind because of me.

Do they mind demons, vampires, werewolves and the like? Because if they don't I suggest Everglade is your best bet. The city is huge but not really too occupied.

After all, it's much better to put the needs of your family, friends and teammates more, than anything, yes?

{ Zeref slowly nodded. Some control was better than no control, but was it worth the price? Hades brought back that old mindset, and he paid for it with his life. }

I don't know. I'll bring it up to Silver, at least, but if any more of my demons appear... hopefully, they will agree.

[Kefka grins, glancing at what he can see of the book through the video.]

This time, Kefka, I wouldn't be alone, as odd as that might sound.

{ Suigintou is immune to his magic by virtue of not having a 'true' soul, and their contract leeches power from him to fuel her own. It was worth a try. Besides, his demons, like Silver, would hopefully have a few tricks of their own up their sleeve to survive his magic. }

And if I am?

{ Neither confirming nor denying it. It is, but it's not quite like the other books he's written. }

All the more reason to move in nearby~! Can't let you have all the fun!

[He grins a bit, flippantly waving his hand.]

Grimoires are an old form of magic not unlike Magicite. They're batteries of power, just waiting to be unleashed at another time... but I have to wonder... what will this one do~?

That's where I have to disagree with you. Being the God of Magic and everything, I feel like I have a right to know what happens in my domain~

You are no god of mine.

Never claimed I was. I'm the god of magic. Not humans. Grimoires just so happen to fall in my jurisdiction. Really, it's only a matter of time before I decide to feel out the connection myself.

A god's sovereignty extends only as far as his or her ability to enforce it. You say I don't deserve my power, yet you don't take it away. You ask me questions about the magic of my world, and you'd think a god with dominion over magic would know that ahead of time.

If you are indeed a god, your dominion ended at the dimensional borders of your own world. Whatever the case... you are no more worthy of worship than this world's most magical ant.

You say that, but you've never seen my ability to enforce anything, really. I haven't taken it away because -- [He can't.] -- I still believe that you may yet prove yourself. I only ask questions because I'm bored and it makes for small talk.

I never asked for worship, either. I had a cult once, and that just turned out to be more trouble than it's worth. I swear, that tower was so drab and boring. ...Not to mention the moron that ran the cult couldn't keep a single old man in line.

Call it what you want. I call it a phase. I had just achieved godhood, and remade the world in my image. I figured a cult could be entertaining after a long day of rearranging continents, turning deep sea trenches inside out, and erecting a tower from the twisted remains of my former home.

Turned out to be more trouble than it was worth really.

[It's quite evident from the too-brilliant colors behind her that she's actually back where she should be for the moment. Though her lineface looks slightly troubled if one knows what to look for.]

Is that wise, Zeref? There are very few habitable places that aren't already populated to some degree.

That is why I asked. I want a place large enough to house multiple people, but at the same time, I don't want to place anyone else at risk because of it.

[Ponderponder... Hmmmm. Too bad Tenroujima doesn't exist here since nobody's wished for it.]

Do you have anything against living underground?

[Since there tend to be less inhabitants larger than a bug under a certain number of feet.]

I... suppose not, as long as it's well-ventilated.

Yes... you've met both of them. Silver of Tartarus, and Suigintou. She was one of the other judges during the pageant.

Silver I expected, but to think you'd move in with a young lady like that....

{ Zeref sighed... and held up the rose-ring on his finger. }

She asked me to form a contract with her.

Mavis looks at the ring. That wasn't an.... engagement ring.... was it? ]

What kind of contract?

{ Zeref? Marriage? Surely you jest. }

The way her magic works - or rather, the magic that allows her to live - she must form a contract with a human. This contract allows her to use a human's energy in order to fuel her own power.

So far, she hasn't used nearly enough of it for me to even feel tired.

{ Something Suigintou herself said was likely. Apparently, humans capable of magic in her world are extremely rare, with her creator being one of the only ones in existence. }

Z-Zeref-sama... [Finding you here of all people. That leaves her speechless for a moment.]

Zeref-sama is looking for accommodations in this place? [There are actually two extra questions hidden in that one: 'You're planning on staying here?' and 'How can I help?'.]

{ Oh. She wasn't like Silver. She was a real demon, and one of the most dangerous - if one of the more calm - members of Tartarus' Nine Demon Gates. But at least she was one of those Zeref thought would at least be willing to listen to him, or at least, wouldn't decide to massacre humans whenever she gets bored, like Jackal or Ezel would. }

... Yes. I am. Silver is here, as well. { And Suigintou, but that can wait. }

...I'm sorry I got here late, then. My apologies, Zeref-sama. Although I am honestly not quite sure how I ended us in this place. I... didn't see any portal open.

[She brings a thoughtful finger to her lips, pondering this. Before turning her attention back to Zeref, a barely there smile curling her lips.]

But I am glad I am here now if it means I can have the honor to meet the author of my own story in person.

Yes. { And he's been behaving himself perfectly. No fights with Fairy Tail, not even any anger at Zeref himself for creating Deliora. } It's a long story, Sayla. But many were brought here, including myself... and several members of Fairy Tail. I don't know who brought us here, though, nor how, or why.

{ Zeref slowly nodded, as Sayla said that she was honored. It was no secret to him that Tartarus wanted to meet their creator very badly, and this was about as awkward of a way that that could happen that Zeref could have imagined. }

Of course... I only regret that it happened under these circumstances.

Well... Isn't that going to be a fun house?

So thoughtful of you. But you should have thought I wasn't too keen on living with weird demon guys either.

[She's not scared. Or maybe just a tad impressed. But it's not like she's going to let it show or admit to that any time soon.]

I know you somehow feel responsible for your demons [And God knows Suigintou wishes her Father felt the same way about the dolls he created.] but seriously? He looks like a grown man. I'm pretty sure he can handle himself on his own.

It is still best if he doesn't cross Fairy Tail yet, though.
