[For a very brief moment there was what looked like a severe scowl there, none too happy about... anything going on. No words, eyes not focusing on the camera, before within seconds it simply goes dead.
Not doing this today, thanks.]
Action
[The phone had been pocketed after Gabriel had given it a once over, familiarizing himself with what was very much a low-tech sort of phone to him. Wasn't even about to willingly mess with it until he had to, because at the moment there was something more important in mind. Gathering as much information about this predicament as he could.
The hologram had been helpful enough, but he wasn't just going to stop there, oh no.
The Black Ops commander was going to do one of the things he did best; observe and listen to those who were already here. Tuning out most every day conversation that didn't seem important, hood pulled up over his head and walking. Never staying in one area for too long, since he was also familiarizing himself with layouts. Mental mapping. Remaining on his guard all the while.]
As if I didn't have enough weirdness to deal with, had to throw in the strangest abduction I've ever heard of.
[Talking gorilla from the moon was one thing, so was the girl that had to wear a device strapped to her chest to keep firmly planted in their time and reality. Magic dragons.
Now this.]

[Why she was waiting wasn't any of his business, bu there was no harm in asking in the first place, been easy to ignore or move past it.
Reyes tilted his head, looking back towards where he came from for a moment before it focus went right back to where it had been.]
Best way to describe it, outside of waking up from a sudden abduction.

[ Era fiddles with her engagement ring absently, mind wandering to her missing husband for a moment. She gives her head the slightest shake, ridding herself of wistful musings and returning her focus to the present. ]
I remind myself that it could always have been worse. Though that doesn't make the situation any less inconvenient.

[Still, as he stood there Reyes was taking her in, Strange appearance was noted of course, but it was more body language he was paying attention to; her's an the creature companion.
Ah.]
I'm sure it doesn't. Most have things to get back to, lives and all. Distressing situation at best, and right now I'm more interested in making sure I've got the information I need.
[Before deciding on what he was going to do. Of course he was also irritated, but what good would it do him to go through this with that attitude? He could miss something.]

[ While it didn't really help Era all too much just yet she is quite aware it will prove useful in the future. Exploring has always been her preferred and most effective way to gather information. She can only assume it's the same for this man as well. ]
Everglade and Fayren are the two most dangerous cities from what I have experienced thus far. Everglade is more insidious and unsettling with its dangers. Fayren is filled with creatures you will want your weapon on hand for.

[Exploring was a preferred way, he was used to gathering intel, and getting a lay of the area would be very helpful no matter how long he'd be here.
If anything happened he wouldn't be running blind, could navigate and pull along whoever might need a hand.]
When you say creatures, mind giving an idea of what you mean? I'll keep insidious and unsettling dangers in mind for... Everglade, as well.

[ Bookworm she may be, but she is more of an Adventurer. And she's maybe been taking out a bunch of her frustrations on monsters in Fayren rather than curling up with a book... ]
Stone Golems, direwolves, direbats, chimera, faeries, elementals... The things you would find in Earth's high fantasy genre, if you are familiar with it.

[And he did, even if a man who took information readily given with a grain of salt, there was no real disbelief; ingrained habit. Still, this wasn't something anyone would use like that.]
Ah. Yeah. I'm more used to machines and people being those that are dangerous. [No one talks about the gorillas on the moon, they could stay there.] But yeah, I'm familiar enough with that.

[ Overall nothing has been too dissimilar from what she would find in Eorzea, so she hasn't had too much difficulty with them. Still, she's aware that for those unaccustomed to such creatures that they're likely to be injured. ]
If ever you need a shield while exploring you are free to contact me if you like. I am Era Ra. [ She pauses here very briefly, fiddling with her rings. ] Or Era de Borel. Though simply Era is acceptable.

Out of his league? But at least he knew to take caution, no starting shit with strange creatures in a city full of them.
Corner of his mouth twitched, hands rested on hoodie pockets, ghost o a faint grin just barely there in his expression for a moment. Helpful.] I'll keep it in mind.
I'm Gabriel Reyes, or just Gabriel. Know I said it before, but I appreciate the information, Era.
[Commander title didn't mean too much here, he suspected. At the moment it didn't mean much back home either.]

Era does find Gabriel's reaction a fair bit amusing. It stretches her lips into a smile. ]
Well met, Gabriel. Even if the circumstances are less than ideal. And you're quite welcome. I only wish there was more I could give you.
no subject
His head tipped, some very, very faint chuckle just under his breath.]
Less than ideal, but I've worked with a lot worse. [Anything during the Omnic Crisis counted, as did a few Blackwatch missions.] Any little bit helps, giving me a few places to dig for more is certainly a good deal of help if you ask me.

[ Era takes a quick glance at the sky, then the shadows at her feet. She has waited long enough for today, so she puts her grimoire away into what must be her jeans pocket except a book that big ... shouldn't fit...
especially not in women's jeansThen she stands up and brushes the wrinkles from her hoodie. There's a dissonance between her modern clothing and everything else about her that screams old fashioned - speech, gestures, accent, grimoire, quill...
But it works for her. Modern clothes are convenient, comfortable, and allow for a broad range of movement. Also she likes how jeans make her butt look. And how they make her husband's butt look. Jeans are really quite nice that way. ]
I've yet to hear from anyone why we are here. The last world I was trapped in was very clear from the start how and why we were there, and how we could return home.
If I uncover anything of use I will document it and have it put on the network. Though there has been someone here for over four years now, so I'm doubtful of the progress I will make.

... Not a lot of face in the public at large was just. Natural at this point.
At least there was good taste in comfort, hoodies were good. Strange as it was to see a book of that size just be. Slipped away. Okay.]
You were in another place before this one? [Huh.]
Sometimes it takes a new perspective, fresh eyes, to see something that could've been missed.
[Well, that was oddly encouraging.]

[ She recalls, briefly, Alphinaud and the Crystal Braves. Then compares that to Aymeric and his Temple Knights.
Being prepared for what a leadership role means certainly makes all the difference. ]
Yes, I had been in a world called Xistentia for eleven months. My last memory before waking here was falling asleep on my husband. I have no recollection of any event that would bring me here, and it would have been very difficult to successfully kidnap me under Aymeric's watchful eye without him arriving as well.
[ She lets out a small, irritated huff. The way her tail twitches behind her doesn't help to hide her frustration either. ]
At least in Xistentia I knew how I had arrived.

[That.. really sounded like he watched such a thing happen first hand, then again it was still going on. He wondered just how much more Morrison could take before.. well. Before he broke. Reyes could only do so much from his position, had his own ways of trying to support the man but. Well.
Hands were tied for anything more that little things these days, frustrating as it was.]
Must be rough.
[And he wouldn't pry, but it answered that unasked question of what she could have possibly been waiting for, didn't it.]
And here you wake up with items, a note, and then there's the helpful hologram that makes the attempt to answer any question most people would ask. Something about spirits and a barrier. No real How.
no subject
[ She is the biggest hypocrite here but whatever!!! It's still true, even if she rarely lets herself rely on others.
To his other comment Era can only shrug. It is pretty rough, since she grew accustomed to his presence - to him always being there when she needed him. ]
Aymeric is alive, and so am I. It is not the worst thing that could happen, and we will not be separated forever.
[ Still sucks. She'll persevere though, just as she always does. ]
I've yet to inspect the barrier myself. I thought to examine it before, but my instincts told me to keep my distance.
no subject
[... Okay so he was also a little guilty of that one, while also trying to support the man in the public eye and. Well. Now he was taking a lot more on to himself rather than letting others.
Nothing ends well.]
One day.
[One day what? Likely to see each other again, best not to let go of that hope.]
Usually it's best to trust your instincts, and with what is said about it, readily available? Wouldn't blame trusting anything that tells you to keep away. Some things you don't mess with until you have more information otherwise.

[ Her Carbuncle, having been content to lay in the sun near them for the time being decides that it has had enough of standing around. It jumps up and bolts over to Era, leaping onto her shoulder in one fluid movement then sprawling itself across her neck. It's a testament to how often Emmy does this that Era doesn't stagger or need to adjust her stance to accommodate her odd summon.
If the aetherial beast could vocalize it's fairly obvious it would be whining for attention.
Era sighs. ]
Gabriel, this is my Emerald Carbuncle, Emmy.
Is there anything else you would like assistance with? I've a bounty in Fayren to complete by dusk but am otherwise free if you've need of me.
