[Video/Reaction] Cooking With Grumpy: By Satori Komeiji
Who: Satori and YOU
What: Cooking with Eyeball Monsters, what else?
Where: Chireiden
When: Backdated to 5/14
Warnings: Mild descriptions of raw meat and cooking prep, Koishi being cute, Satori being grumpy.
The video feed at Chireiden’s an unusual one, this time. Satori’s set herself up in the kitchen, apparently, with an impressive array of utensils at the ready. She’s even wearing a slightly frilly pink apron to match, with one of Koishi’s “Guardian Satori” action figures set up in a very visible position slightly off to the side. It’s striking a heroic pose and seems to be holding one of Satori’s smaller dinner knives in both arms, as if it’s planting a sword into the ground. Safety first.
Either way, something’s up, if Satori’s actually doing this in front of a live audience of Genessian randoms. Her tone, as always, deadpan, and her gaze never leaving the camera, she declares…
“It’s Koishi’s ‘birthday,’ today. Or, whatever passes for one. Considering that she’s not home and I can’t seem to find her anywhere, I dearly hope she’ll see this video and come right back. I’m preparing something of a surprise for her, and with any luck, she might arrive while it’s still fresh.”
Her gaze meets the audience’s once more as the takes stock of her implements once again, then bends down to look at something below the camera’s field of view.
“You’re all very lucky to see how to make Koishi’s some of favourite dishes, today. You’re welcome...”
Satori looks down and retrieves what appears to be a large chunk of fish flesh.
“This is a prodigiously-sized chunk of premium fatty tuna. Normally, this quality would cost you dearly. It was on sale recently, but for my sister, I’d happily pay the typical cost.” She arranges some spices and what looks to be a small saucer-full of sauce nearby. “ She quiets down, taking a handful of each of the spices from the container, mixing together and grinding them into a fine powder, then lightly sprinkling a pinch of the spice mixture into the sauce. She splashes a little of the sauce on it for good measure, all without saying a word. She then calmly takes a knife and divides the piece of fish into a couple large pieces before setting the knife back down and cleaning it.
“...For those of you who expected anything more complex, your disappointment is just as delicious as the tuna. Moving on.”
Satori moves away from the camera for a moment, setting a couple containers nearby before pulling out a large, very meaty piece of organ meat. Upon closer inspection, it looks like it’s a whole beef heart on the table.
“As youkai, we are primarily carnivorous. For this example, I’ve also bought a heart, the most nourishing type of meat for our species, naturally. Assuming you reach this step at all, you’d best wash and drain the blood from it before thinking about cooking it. The one I’m using has already been cleaned.”
As she opens the smaller containers, Satori shows each of them off, in turn.
“In this case, Koishi’s quite fond of an equally meaty filling - ground beef and pork mixed with similar liver-meat. I’ve pre-cooked this for convenience, along with a good deal of rice.Part of it is for stuffing, while the rest will likely end up as side-dishes and left-overs.”
Not wasting any time, Satori immediately begins mixing the meats together and places it into a single container once it’s achieved the right sort of consistency. She then - very carefully - takes the meats and mixes it in with the rice in equal measure. Her gaze is rather intense for something so simple. Once she’s finished, she takes out a few mushrooms, some onions and a couple large bell peppers, using a new, clean knife to quickly and neatly chop the veggies into little chunks and mixing them into the meat-and-rice filling. She neatly makes an incision into the heart and removes some stringy arterial tissue from inside it, moving the plate closer to the camera so it’s clearly visible.
“Once the vegetables are together, you’ll have to remove the inedible parts from the flesh, like I’ve done, and pack the previous meat combination into the empty heart. It fits rather neatly, when done correctly, but I don’t expect most of you to be this careful.”
Producing a large serving ladle, she neatly packs the mixture onto the spoon, then transports it into the emptied heart, packs it down with the bottom of the ladle and closes the organ shut.
“Once all this is done, be sure to clean your cooking implements very well and place the stuffed heart into the oven. Cooking time is around twenty or so minutes.” A small smirk slips past her facade, which quickly fades. Is that really Satori? “Serves enough for one older sister and one younger sister, assuming she’s willing to share.”
… From off camera a yellow sleeve and a pair of chopsticks creeps into the view, stealing one of the pieces of fish… From there Koishi slides easily into the frame, chewing on her ill gotten gains...
Satori’s face returns to its average stone-faced indifference as she continues…
“And dessert. That’s a much more delicate problem, there are a couple choices Koishi enjoys. Koishi’s fond of plums, peaches and a variety of other fruits, if she can get her hands on them. But in this instance, we’re making--”
But Koishi is unable to restrain herself any longer, practically vibrating. She falls upon her sister with arms and tentacles alike.
“Thank you Siiiis! I looove yoooou!” And thus the nuzzling begins, Koishi’s happy babbling switching to Japanese after several moments. It isn’t long before a flailing tentacle impacts the camera, sending it skidding across the counter and clicking off as it crashes into a wall.
(Feel free to call them back if you want to talk.)

You didn't just break that thing, did you?
Re: [Video]
"A-Ah, Remi...You saw all that, did you? How embarrassing. Koishi knocked the forsaken thing right across the room. She's still wedged onto me at the moment, so I'll have to pry her off."
There's a faint rustling noise as Satori unsuccessfully tries to remove her younger sister. Satori's third eye exhibits immense feelings of mild discomfort.
"Be careful, next time...you nearly broke it, Koishi!" A pause... "...But you're welcome. Both of you."
In any case, happy birthday to Koishi.

Happy birthday Moon. Check outside Chireiden.
[If she does, she'll find a bouquet of these!]

Hah, glad you approve.
[ No doubt Satori remembers how she met Marisa... Unless this is a different Satori from the one she knows. ]
Re: [Video]
"If it isn't the infamous Marisa Kirisame. You're quick to be friendly when you know I can't read your mind, aren't you? Then again, I don't need to read what's already plain."
The mind-reader basks in this moment to poke fun at the black-white witch before adding, quietly...
"...I'll save the sleepless trauma for later, though. If you've any well-wishes for my sister and I, you're welcome to do so. Just don't barge into my home again, would you?"
Hey, I don't even know where that archway of yours is. [ She can learn that later. ] Is it your birthday too?
"It's in the Fayren waterway." Way too cheerful as usual. "And it's just my birthday today. Sis hasn't picked a day she wants to celebrate."
Re: [Video]
"I don't think it's a good idea being so public if I made a choice. I wouldn't want to have all sorts of people rushing around and being...excessively emotional. You're the one that enjoys all the public attention, Koishi."
She turns back and addresses the Black-White again, having regained her composure. "You're welcome to visit, so long as you don't steal anything, disturb my pets or think anything too unpleasant around me."
Re: [Video]
[ Yeah right. Of course she'll end up 'borrowing' things again. ]
Catching up on this.
She's smiling a bit, but her gaze is more than a little saccharine and forced. She did not really like or approve of this greedy and maladjusted woman, but for her sister's sake, she'd put up with her.
"It isn't as if I've anything of value to pilfer, in any case." That, and her pets were very territorial things.
[She'll have to get her some heart of something... or someone?!?!? else....]
[And try not to think on how squeamish this might have made a good chunk of the populous.]
The meal did appear to be half gone already but, from the looks of things, she was at least sharing it with Satori. "You should come have lunch with us sometime. You can bring the nice Mister Doctor. Any of them."
Rose laughed and nodded. "I'll see what I can do." If nothing else maybe he could infuse the heart with some fear for... flavoring. And maybe they'll just bring poprocks and ice cream.
Re: [Video]
"Is it that obvious? I haven't had fatty tuna in a really long time. Sis is great!" Koishi turned the camera to her sister who was currently washing some dishes. She turned and walked right by Koishi as if she wasn't even there...
"I guess I'm kind of unnoticed right now. But you can see me Miss Roses so it's fine."
Re: [Video]
"Which is better, tuna or people?" :T SHE HAD TO ASK, OKAY.
"Ah..." blinks... "Well, maybe she's just super focused?" Rose rubs the back of her neck in thought. Or maybe it was because Rose herself felt like a ghost again.
Re: [Video]
She looked back at her sister, third eye bobbing from side to side a little. "Ah... No... She can't see me It happens sometimes. But Mister Hat is on the chair. And she can see Mister Hat. So she knows I'm still here.
Re: [Video]
And a head tilt. "So why can I?" Face scrunch. Was Rose magic?! :O
Re: [Video]
Re: [Video]
Re: [Video]
It gave the idea of an "imaginary friend" new meaning.
"You should tell me some stories Miss Roses. I have a feeling you have a lot of them. And I would absolutely love to hear every single one."
Re: [Video]
Rose quickly filed away that information in her head. Oh Koishi she is going to engage your help in so many pranks.
A softer grin. "Yeah, I've got... billions o' stories. But I'm better at listenin'. Jack and the Doctor are the real story tellers, even if the Doctor doesn't usually talk much about 'imself. His younger versions don't anyway."
Re: [Video]
"Well that's not good." Koishi gave a fake pout. "You should tell me all of those stories. And I'll tell you lots of mine. Stories are a part of our aspect. We collect them and re tell them and feed on them a little bit." Though it was safe to assume the most 'delicious' stories the really personal ones considering their emotion feeding.
Re: [Video]
"Yeah?" a face scrunch and Rose nodded, "All right. I won't hold back." Rose's stories are pure emotion, this is why she likes Koishi. She needs a good source to channel it all. So enjoy a lot of fear and anger and sorrow. And joy -- mostly the Jack stories there.
Re: [Video]
"I'll look forward to them. I'll even tell you some of the ones I've collected myself. And I'll do my very best in telling them, okay?" She will absolutely adore these stories. And no doubt Satori would too if Rose was comfortable telling them there.
Re: [Video]
[Action]
"Hallo! And Happy Birthday!"
[Action]
She's got the poprocks. "Happy Birthday!!!" at the same time as Ten.
no subject
"HELLO!" And then something green and snuggly shot from the dark, attaching herself to Rose's side, tentacles grabbing onto 10 to include him in the sudden cuddles. "I'm here! It's my day! And you have ice cream!" Both of them could feel how she was practically vibrating with excitement.
no subject
"With bananas." Remarking rather playfully and a bit silly looking.
"After all - always bring a banana to a party."
no subject
"Yeah! For you!! Happy birthday!!! Been having fun all day?"

The return hug only proved to excite her more, the little youkai giving them both a squeeze (she didn't break any bones this time) and finally let go, drifting up to eye level. "You should come in! Please! We have leftovers so you can have some too. It was really delicious!"
She opened the front door with ease revealing the grandeur of the palace of the earth spirits. Well polished slabs of stone made up the floor and the walls were dotted with the occasional fresco or grand picture in frame. Occasionally these were damaged by the numerous pipes stretching through the building. At one point someone must have stopped maintaining them before the sisters took over.
Straight ahead was a high backed throne at the end of a grand hall and Satori had added several of her own touches to the throne, though the elder mind reader was currently not sitting on it.
"This way! This way!" Koishi darted to one side, nearly tripping over the massive black panther Kuro who had wandered over to see what all the commotion was about. "Oops! Sorry."

Jack hugsDoctor hugs the best. And Jack's.But Koishi hugs are frequent, and necessary to quell the instinctive unintentional empathy or emotional overload Rose sometimes suffers.
Rose bent down to the pet the panther, forever oblivious to any sense of danger. "Hellllo gorgeous," she purred, then glanced at 10... and laughed in spite of herself, remembering the last time she'd done that to cats, his constant disappointment that she wasn't talking to him.
no subject
The panther closed his eyes and sat down, tailtip flicking back and forth. He clearly liked the attention. He rocked his head forward, pressing his face into Rose's fingers. Which meant 10 was getting even less attention now. Oh well.
Koishi had faded a little bit, only really visible out of the corners of one's eye. Though she re-focused when an excited raccoon bounded into the room, skidded across the floor, and crashed into 10s leg.
"Scribbles you shouldn't run like that... Be careful Mister Doctor. He'll try to take your shiny things."
no subject
no subject
"Ay! Stop taking my words." Then playfully butt pats Rose.
no subject
"You're so silly. Wanting attention all the time..." And then to Rose. "Would you like to hold him?" Or any of the other animals that were steadily trickling into the room to investigate the newcomers. Satori sure had a lot of pets.
As predicted the little raccoon was trying to get into the doctor's pockets. Or his coat. Or anything! it snuffled around, checking every nook and cranny of Ten's massive coat before- there was a little metallic click and he bolted, something silver and pen-shaped in his mouth.
Koishi did warn you, Doctor.
no subject
"No." Ten remarks firmly and chases after the racoon.
