Action / Anon Text

[Action for TARDIS only: (and those who'd come in/out ofc)]

[It's ridiculously late at night, or early in the morning, depending on your POV and rather than sleeping, Rose is huddled up in a blanket, looking like a sheet-ghost, barely illuminated in the dark by the blue hue glow of the tv showing.... Disney movies, what else?]

[She's got a bowl of caramel corn that she doesn't look too interested in, and a mug of tea that probably looks cold. And even without the mascara staining her face, the TARDIS herself probably is enough indication that Rose is a bit of a mess mentally/emotionally. Nothing new though.]

How do you stop dreaming certain things?

And before you point out that dreams are your consciousness working on unresolved issues; I know. But there's no resolution, and dreaming isn't fixing or helping them, ta.

Also, everyone show off what you're wearing to prom, I need something to take my mind off it. And if you're not going, what are you doing instead? Anything fun?

Not-Anon, because he doesn't see the point on this?

I am going to ask a really stupid question, because my life has been very strange. What is 'prom'? I've gathered enough to know it's a special, seasonal dance. But what makes it different?

[Someone missed out on a normal High School life. And Middle School...and Elementary school. Being home-schooled in a pre-apocalypse'll do that for ya.]

.......Not even sure if they had that on the Earth I'm from, even before things got bad.

[You can't see it, but he's shrugging.]

If sleep isn't helping, try meditating? It's not quite as restful at first, but if it's practiced enough it can be just as good. Masters of it can achieve amazing things.

Lots of things.

[That's not an answer, but that's all she's getting over the network for now.]

Easiest way to start meditating is to use your breathing, and close your eyes. Sit, or stand--some position that you're comfy and relaxed but not so relaxed you'll fall asleep. Then you just focus on synching your breathing with your heart. Like 4 beats inhale, 4 beats exhale.

Nothing wrong with being human. I did also say it's not a substitute, but it can help and be restful. Far as I know, it's also not magic--not alone. Depending on how meditation is integrated, it might be useful in certain energy manipulations, but I'm not sure if I'd call that 'magic' either.

If nothing else, it'd help you sort your thoughts before you go to sleep too, once you're in a calm and controlled setting. If you really want to try dealing with them though, depending on what's bothering you, try 'image training'.

Sorry you've bad dreams; you might stop dreaming altogether. I've read of one who willed them away by saying (and believing): "Sleep is here, and sleep is good. Sleep is here."

[Ted, with a growing dislike of unreal things, would take a hatchet to dreams if he could.]

"Oh. Well it's hard to control your dreams. Steering the conscious mind toward something else works sometimes. But not always. Sis sometimes has really vivid nightmares so I will use my power to help her." She was the youkai of the unconscious mind, and all.

There was a pause.

"Also, what's a prom?"

Yes, I've really read that. Whether saying so produces the effect I don't know, but it couldn't hurt. Granted, the character who said so was one of those who is only ever right for the wrong reasons, so take it with a grain of salt.

Unless, like Jane Studdock, your dreams are prophetic, in which case shutting them up would be foolish.

Issues with persons? I fully understand the feeling if so. Awfully hard to change, those.

That would be Myrtle Fox in "Descent into Hell"; excellent read, and not nearly as bleak as it seems. It went good, here, then good again, for the formula. She also repeated the same thing at morning, but said "life" instead of "sleep."

<font face="Courier'>My condolences; prayer, I think, is the only palliative that comes to mind. A belief about life and sleep, certainly, in that they're regarded as both good and inevitable; not to be fought.
