[Okay, he's read the pamphlet and watched the video so he's up to date. After suppressing his ki and flying high above the bay to get a good look around, he's still not impressed.

This isn't Earth, he knows that. It's no other planet he's been to. There's some familiarity here, maybe some familiar ki, but they're not at full power and faint. It sets him more on edge than comforts, actually.

Whatever's responsible knows that he's here, and Vegeta was never one for hiding. So, pissed to hell and back, he activates a video from high above the bay.]

Whose idea of a joke is this?

[Translation: Whose ass does he have to kick to get back home?]

[Ah. Mai. He's relieved enough to see the face of another ally.

He hums at her assessment.] Do you know how long people have been coming here?

[A small frown appeared at that, and she lightly shook her head.]

No. I don’t.

But based on the few conversations I’ve had with others...it’s been a while. More than a year’s time.

[So probably not long enough to figure this puzzle out. It's crazy to think, but Kakarot may know more.

Vegeta just nods.] Trunks said you arrived with him a few weeks ago. I suppose you both arrived from the same moment, too.

That’s right.

[Because of course he would have already contacted his father. Bulma too, she assumed, though that begged the question of how much information would be redundant as a result.]

It made sense to us at the time. We were together in the Time Machine when we were taken, so of course we’d arrive here together.

What I wasn’t expecting to find, however, was that not only were Bulma and some of the other here as well, but they’d arrived much earlier. Which can only mean time travel is involved here too.

He said that Bulma's been here four months and Kakarot even longer. There was no sign of either being missing back home.

I don't know what this nonsense is but I don't like. [Preaching to the choir, he knows.]

[She figured he knew, but she let him preach anyway. Though, while he was on the subject of the Breif matriarch...]

Have you found her yet?

Bulma, I mean.

Yes, finally. [Didn't take too long but it kinda felt like forever.]

[A subtle, but warm smile at that. She knew better than to even think of teasing him over such sentimentality. In fact, were she in a parallel situation, she would have completely understood.]

Good.

[Then, a noticeable straightening, and...again, knowing Vegeta...she chose to ignore the emotion behind such a decision and instead focus on the rational:]

That'll save you the trouble of having to deal with whatever temporary housing situation they might have already set up for you. It was more than adequate for Trunks and myself--[Considering how long they'd spent squatting in whatever intact building they could hide out in long enough to earn a bit of sleep.]--but even then, Bulma insisted we stay with her.

She's managed to establish herself fairly well in the time she's been here. Of course, it's Bulma, so I can't even be that surprised.

You and Trunks stay with her, too?

[ He's surprised but not angry about it. Not like Kakarot. So Vegeta nods, totally fine with this development at least. ]

She's resourceful and adapts easily. I'm surprised she's not running the whole damn place by now. [ As soon as she gets wind of the idea, though... ]

I did mention the part where she insisted.

[And as well as Mai had come to know the woman, she knew Vegeta would know just how strong said insistence could be. The kind where they really didn't have a say in the matter and it was easier to just go along with things.]

[Besides, it was far from an inconvenience for any of them.]

I would be more surprised if she wasn't busy burying herself in her work. That tends to delay city-wide takeovers, in my experience.

That's always an option on the table where she's concerned.

[ And now he's wondering if she can recreate the gravity room... Hm... ]

[Vegeta, your priorities...]

[...are precisely what she would have predicted. In fact, there was a chance Trunks had already thought of something similar.]

That's why I'm not worried. Not really.

I'm not so naive as to call this world safe, exactly...but it's already more peaceful than what we grew up living in. And with both you and Bulma here, I know Trunks will be alright.
