Some Texts [Locked] and Action! (Open unless otherwise stated)

So, my mother is having a party on June 23rd and 24th. It's going to be on the Nova City Islands, and there will be games and prizes. I wanted to invite you to join us as my guest? If you want to come please meet us at the Nova City Docks at 11am on June 23rd.

Trunks has gotten the lay of Nova City pretty well, and a decent start on getting to know and explore Attleton, so time to add Genessia city to his list. He'll be out and about exploring, with particular visits to the Genessia Scientific Research Foundation's lab--mostly to find if they have a head-office, a few shops and parks, and making note of certain locations.

[OOC: Feel free to approach him and hit me up with tags.]

[Action: Genessia Garden Park--Locked to Rose-Tyler]

Trunks hadn't wanted to disrupt Rose's yoga schedule, so he didn't meet her every day to work with her on meditation. But--aside from her recent hermiting because of things--they did try to meet regularly. One such morning finds them in the Garden Park, slightly off (but not too far) off the path by the trees.

[OOC: I figure this is probably like...3rd or 4th lesson for Rose, if that works?]

Well, I plan to keep him directed towards the coliseum as I've been told that can take a lot of punishment. If you're worried specifically about Vegeta, unless he's provoked it should be fine. That was my worry, given what I could hear of the discussion. The fastest way to get him to do something is to tell him not to, and imply it's an insult to his pride.

[A pause, Trunks still hasn't opened his beer but is thinking.]

Ah. Pride. Sounds like he'd get along great with my brother.

[Long sigh.]

And yeah the coliseum would be the best bet. He can cut loose, and neither side will take any lasting damage. That's the one place where death isn't punished.

That's about what I figured, from talking with Mr. Andor, and my own explorations around Attleton. I'm less worried about death, than about general destruction.

[The sigh brings a hint of smile, if only because Trunks understands very very well.]

He doesn't really get along with many people. Grumpy, kind of stand-offish, but he can back up his pride most of the time. When it's not blinding him---he's actually pretty crafty and smart.

[There's a long silence as Dante considers this description.]

Okay, blind stab in the dark, but... does he have issues regarding his old man?

[That just makes the smile wider, and Trunks laugh a bit.]

I couldn't tell you, honestly. I have my issues with him, but that's also another subject.

[Tilting his head slightly, Trunks is trying to order it all in his head.]

Vegeta is one of only 2 surviving members of the Saiyan-race who are pure-blood. I'm told that Frieza has been present in the cities before? Back in our world he was head of a galactic army that basically sent his forces to wipe out life on planets, and then turn around and re-sell them. The Saiyans were one of the groups he used to do his work, until he wiped them out.

Vegeta worked under Frieza, as a hostage of sorts, for his father's good behavior.

[Dante just shakes his head at all this.]

At the very least, please tell me the other pure-blood isn't his twin brother or something. Because this is all sounding really uncomfortably familiar.

I'm 99.99% sure he isn't.

[Uncomfortably familiar huh? Interesting.]

Anyways, eventually Frieza was dealt with, and Vegeta settled on Earth. Same as the only other last saiyan, Goku. They're most certainly training-rivals and compete against each other, but I suspect also that Goku is valued at least as the only other survivor of their race.

[Finally, Trunks paused, taking both a breath and a swig of beer.]

Goku'd been raised on Earth, amnesia. Vegeta settled later---has a family now there. He's never lost his pride though, in who he is and his drive to be the pride of his race. He's a highly experienced combatant, if I'm remembering right--he was often sent on missions even while young that older warriors couldn't handle. He dislikes being 'told' what to do and what not to do, and he very much wants things his way. But he's no longer a bad person, the way he used to be.

[There's a sigh of relief just before Dante chugs the remainder of his can all at once.]

I see. That's reassuring at least. His wife has shown up as well, so hopefully that will help keep his temper in check.

[He runs a hand through his hair, lost in thought for a moment.]

Pride in who you are is fine, so long as it's not taken to extremes. I've got a lot of experience with that, unfortunately...

[There's an eyebrow raise, as that's new.]

You met Mom?

[Welp, sorry about that Dante. Not that Trunks was necessarily keeping it secret so much as he was trying to be less 'personal'. Trunks having Bulma's coloring is obvious, but Dante might also start to recognize Vegeta's facial structure and other similarities now too.]

She's been here for a while, actually. I think having him around will help her as well, as I know she's been worried.

[Another pause, and then a small sip.]

Honestly, from the conversation I observed, you and he aren't that dissimilar in some respects. That's part of why I also didn't want you both butting heads right then, or in that way.

Yeah, helped her with a book thing a couple days ago.

[So he's the kid, huh? Dante will just file that information away for later. Good to know. He didn't make the connection at first because a lot of weird looking people have come through Gen and he's learned better of making assumptions.]

I'll be honest, we are alike in some ways... but also exact opposites in others. The main reason I was so quick to butt heads was because he gave off the same vibe as my twin brother. And the last time I got that vibe, my brother raised a tower in the middle of a densely populated city and unleashed an army of demons onto the unsuspecting populace in an attempt to claim our old man's power.

[He's going to be kicking himself for hat little outburst later he has a feeling....]

Given that, I can understand why you butt heads. Also, like you said, you're doing what you see as your duty as deputy-guardian. I'm not here to blame either of you, so much as try and provide explanations.

[There's a shrug, and a hint of smile.]

So what else can I answer? I do plan to try and direct him to the coliseum, and then I know Goku has found a way to train safely while we're all here, but I'm not sure what it is yet. Mom also is more than aware of what Father is like. We'll probably be working on a way to build a gravity room for him to use.

[Dante pauses for a moment, his brain drifting to the sparring fight he had with 17.]

You said you're from the same world as Goku and 17, right? ...Is everyone from your world that strong? Because - just between us - before I went toe-to-toe with 17, I was starting to think I was always going to be the most powerful here.

[The tone shifts over to a more casual tone. Dante is satisfied and is now just shooting the shit for as long as Trunks has time.]

Yes and no; I'm from the same world, but from a parallel timeline to the one that Goku and 17 are from. Mai and I are the only ones from that timeline, and there are some differences based on what happened in our timeline versus the other one--but it's the same basic world, yes.

[The question though, brings a nod--as if Trunks had expected that. His follow-up statement makes that smile widen a bit. Proof Dante is at least more 'humble' than he'll let on.]

The short answer is no. The longer answer is that of the people here from our world, the only 'normal' ones are my mother and Mai. Even then, Mom is a genius and Mai is a strategist and expert marksman, as well as the one who lead the Resistance for the last year. We weren't the norm, although Mom and Goku have been hanging out with world-class Martial Artists since she was 16 and he was 10is or so.

[Sorry, just going to latch onto the whole age thing because what even is Saiyan physiology?]

Wait, she's six years older than him? I mean, don't take this the wrong way, your mom looks good and all, but... she looks like she could feasibly be Goku's mom.

It might only be four years older?

[Trunks is trying to remember, but then gives a shrug. And an understanding smile.]

Goku's much older than he looks. So is Father. So am I, even without the year or two spent in the room of Space and Time. It's part of their being full-blooded Saiyan, and my being a half-saiyan. Mom's pure human, but has really good genes. Grandma and Grandpa look slightly younger than they are too, but are also pure human.

[But there is a hand being held up, and Trunks' head tilting.]

Although before you worry too much, she is my mother--but she's not my mother. The timelines aren't lined up exactly--in the one she and Goku and Father and 17 and everyone else is from, the 'me' that is there is about...14ish? Maybe a year younger. I'm 29, almost 30. The 'mother' in my timeline was much older--but still aged gracefully and didn't look near what she should.

That's... a lot to take in. I'm almost afraid to ask about this 'room of Space and Time' thing.

[Dante glances at his beer can, looking like he wishes it would magically refill.]

Your mom is an impressive lady. From what little interaction I've had with her, she's one of the few humans I've come across that didn't flinch at ow I do things.

[Then don't, it's probably easier on Dante. Especially if he's already feeling off balance.]

I'd ask how you do things, but given the decor, I can guess. Mom's seen a lot of things in her time, and has been adventuring since she was young. I can't say it probably didn't make her uncomfortable, but she's also very used to covering up any fear with anger and bravado. Which she can also usually back up, too. Even if not in the ways father or I can.

Back home I'm a demon hunter. The decor is very much an intentional thing to deter people who don't have the heart, resources, or information to buy my services. I don't deal with small exorcisms or the like. When there's something on the other side of the wall that wants to invade and kill everyone, that's when I get out of bed.

[Except for when he's trying to pay off Lady and Trish's tab...]

Yeah, that sort of fearlessness isn't really common these days, I kinda figured she'd seen some shit. Takes a strong person to see that sort of shit and not get their spirit broken.

I remember you mentioning something about that, when we texted.

[In terms of Dante's decor and job. Accompanied by another drink of the beer.]

I can see why you'd be a good candidate for a guardian or deputy in that way. I had hoped her timeline was more peaceful, and while it wasn't as bad as mine turned out to be, apparently it did have its own problems.

[Bulma in either timeline was a strong person. Stronger than anyone suspected, and not measured in power-levels.]

What else can I answer?

[Dante just shrugs, and has to wonder to himself how Bulma wound up with Vegeta, but that seems like a tale for another day... and one probably better told by someone other than their son. He knows he'd be awkward if he had to try and think about Eva and Sparda banging...]

I don't want to seem like I'm prying, and you've told me enough. The only thing I can really ask at this point is for a sparring match at some point. I know I promised Goku a round but our schedules haven't really lined up. I'd like to get a feel for what a Saiyan can really do. Doesn't have to be now, of course.

Goku not making time for it? That's a new one.

{Said while laughing, with an easy smile.]

I don't recommend asking Father either, given your first meeting. Although really he'd probably enjoy it, and isn't likely to kill you. I don't think so, anyways.

[That was meant to be reassuring Dante, really. It might not seem like it, and Trunks is aware of that. Having another swig.]

I'm half-saiyan, for what it's worth. Father and Goku are both stronger than I am. Assuming we can find a place that could take it, I wouldn't say no though. Sparring is...fun.

[Actual fighting for your life and others, is something Trunks has done more than enough of. That's not exactly fun, or rather--Trunks lacks the bloodthirstiness that most Saiyans had. But sparring and training, and having someone to do that with? THAT was fun, and rare in Trunks' life.]

It's less he hasn't been available and more I've been busy with the whole... campaign thing. There's been a lot more reading involved than I was planning for.

[He gives a dismissive wave.]

Don't sell yourself short. I'm a halfbreed too, and I'm arguably stronger than my old man. I have a feeling with the right incentive, you'd be able to surpass yours if you had to.

[Trunks gives an amused chuckle, while finishing off his own beer.]

I have before. He didn't like it. Except that it was only in pure strength as I didn't see the weaknesses in that form. I don't say I'm a half-breed to disparage myself. I'm more saying that I don't know what differences, if any, might be between a half-blood and a full-blood.

[There's a shrug, as Trunks is honestly unconcerned.]

Then again, we're such a small sample size you could probably just lump us all together. Father and Goku are the last two full Saiyans that I know of, and in my timeline--I'm the only one with any saiyan blood left, period.

I'll be perfectly honest... given what I've seen of humans and demons, I'd be willing to bet that in a few years with enough practice, you'll surpass anyone who steps up to you. Humans are a unique breed. They continue to thrive in spite of a universe that's bound and determined to keep them near the bottom of the food chain.

In fact - no offense to Goku or anything, he seems like a generally great guy - but I think I'd rather spar with you.

[There's some more soft laughter.]

I have no issues about whether I should be stronger or not, at least stronger than my father or Goku. Only reason I care about being stronger, is so I can protect people. You don't have to tell me how amazing they are either. I've spent the last year fighting a mad genocidal God to defend the last group of surviving humans.

[Trunks does not have nearly the pride-issues that his father and mother have. The few he has, manifest in different ways. None of what he says is meant as false modesty--it's more trying to make it clear to Dante he's not putting himself or humans down.]
