[Imelda may be good at many things, but technology is not one of them. Nor is being on her own in a strange place, so different from Santa Cecilia or even the Land of the Dead. She's not particularly good at approaching people either. But needs must and her needs right at the moment include a job, red bills aren't going to work forever and she can't seem to figure out how to find one. All before there were contacts, and she's gotten used to whatever her beloved familia has set on the ofrenda. Now she is back to nothing. Less than nothing.
She tries not to let that show, though, sitting straight and stern for the camera as if posing for an old photograph]
I'm looking for work. [and how annoying to have to do this all over again. She who had started a successful zapataria twice... and would do so a third time. When she had enough money gathered.]
I can cook and clean and mend and all those things required running a household. [she waves a hand] Finances are a specialty.
If you are looking for some skilled labor, or know of anyone who is, contact me por favor. [and she will try to figure out how to answer in time]
[afterwards and otherwise, Imelda can be seen wandering down the streets of Genessia, peering into shops, looking lost, and indeed she might be. Not that she will admit it]

Ah, shoes. I make shoes. [she straightens and lifts her head proudly] The finest shoes you will find anywhere!
Action
Oh, shoes! [ One of Dray's ears twitches but he managed to keep a smiling face. He's got a difficult relationship with shoes since none of the human ones fits him, but she looks so proud of herself that he hasn't got the heart to tell her that. ]
I don't think we have any professionals shoemaker around here, it was about time. Would you like to come into the studio and tell me a bit more about it? It's more comfortable than standing out here under the sun. Would you like some tea? If you can, eh...drink it.
Action
Sí
I notice you don't wear any. Preference or otherwise?
Action
That means 'yes' right? Hector uses that word as well. [ He looks a bit sheepish at the question, one ear flickering for a moment. ] A bit of both. My people doesn't usually wear shoes. I like the ones humans make, they're pretty, but they don't fit my feet.
[ The shape is different, with his more prominent toe being the middle one instead. ] I'd probably wear them if I could find ones that didn't hurt.
Action
But regardless of what he meant why was she still having to deal with it? Couldn't she even go to another world without complete strangers talking about him and knowing his name? Knowing that at any moment he could stop lurking on the fringes and mope his way back into her life?
Or try-- oh he would try--
And there wasn't even her familia to support her. The only person she knew was that no good flojo and if he took one step to ward her... Well she wasn't going to tolerate it, that was all.
After a moment it suddenly occurs to her that they had been having a conversation]
Perdón, what were we talking about?
no subject
It's okay, ehm..shoes. My feet doesn't have the same one as those of a human, so I can't wear them.
no subject
[she will not let him get so much of a finger hold in her life more than he has already.
After that she takes a deep breath and tries to calm down]
If you would like, I could make you a pair. A Rivera zapatera can fit any foot.
[and she's confident she can... if given enough time. Oh she'd learned how to make solid shoes and then some but structure had always been more of Victoria's expertise while her talents lay more on the business end of things. And gracias a Dios for that!]

[ His annoyance soothes a little at her offer and Dray gives her a small smile. ] Really? That would be amazing! Let me know what kind of supplies you'd need and I can get them for you.
no subject
Oh, well, we'll have to see first what we're working with before I can decide that. Sit there, por favor. Do you have a tape measure or ruler?
no subject
Ah, of course. Just give me a second. [ He uses both of that often so he only had to retrieve them from one of the tables. After handling the items to Imelda, Dray sits down as requested. ] You don't have to do anything too complicated. I don't want to stress over this or anything.

Let's go by something simple since it's the first time. Could you make them in turquoise? It's my favorite color.
no subject
Do you do a lot of running or climbing?
no subject
[ He likes to be self-sufficient, something she might understand. The extra money he makes with the studio is mostly to pay for extra expenses, food he can't get in any other way (lie candy!) or to buy people presents. ]
But I'd be wearing the shoes only here, while at work.

[she's not even sure that he will want another pair but it feels like an open door which is at least better than a closed one]
no subject
Oh, you speak Imrish. It's been a long while since I talked to someone in that language. Are you sure you don't want to get paid anything? I feel likes I'd be taking advantage of your generosity.
no subject
Consider it a gift for inviting me in so readily.
no subject
Ah, thank you so much, you're a sweetheart. And I know how confusing things are when you're new here, I had trouble adapting too.
no subject
How did you manage?
no subject
I kept to myself at first. Hunt my own food, built my own house...I didn't had a job so no one could tell me what to do. But then I started talking with people. And it turns out most people here were just as confused and lonely as I was. But they were nice too and talking help us get closer.
no subject
I don't have much patience for other people. [and certainly not getting to know them]
no subject
[ Perfect solution, he thinks. ]
It's her day off but I have someone helping me here at the studio for that reason. Sometimes people require a lot of attention and I need to focus on the projects I am doing. She's very good at handling people.
