k2so: (My buddy...so tiny)

[Video ] An important announcement

[Cassian and Kay's house is often lively and, while Kay is trying to keep what is happening behind him mostly out of frame, Cassian and some pokemon can be spotted.]

Does anybody know a good blacksmith that can weld my wedding ring into place? [Kay raises his left hand and sure enough, there's a white gold ring around his finger.] It keeps falling off because my frame's too smooth and I don't want to lose it by accident.

[Any attempts at seriousness are ruined when there's a yelp, a shout of] Galantea! Get back here right now! [and then there's a Sylveon wearing a tiny tuxedo throwing herself at Kay smugly crowing Sylveon! Sylveon! Cassian appears a moment later, plucking her from Kay’s shoulder. If you look closely, you can see a matching wedding ring on Cassian’s hand, worn along with the gunmetal-grey ring made of Kay’s frame he’s been wearing since Christmas.]

That’s it, you’ve been wearing this tux since the wedding. Enough now.
[For his troubles, he gets his cheek licked– slowly and slobbery and with great relish. He finally notices the phone in Kay’s hand.] If you’re going to announce it, you might as well tell them we’ll be unavailable for our honeymoon.

Ah, I see. [ His eyes widen a little. ] It's nice to meet you then, Trunks is a friend of mine. I heard already that he has a lot of timeline issues in his family.

It's nice to meet you, too.

[She is glad that he's been making friends, and given what she knows of his timeline and what she's observed already - he gets attached to people he cares about pretty quickly.]

I'm just one more of those timeline issues added to the pile. Fortunately, we're used to weird.

[ Cassian's lips twitch a little. ]

I think that's a very good skill around here... There's no end to the weird, especially once you start taking all the different cities with their peculiarities into account.

I had tea with a skeleton already.

Open-mindedness and adaptability are always good things to have, right? I can't say I've ever had tea with a skeleton, but I wouldn't say no if I was invited.

[Although that gives her pause. Wouldn't that require having, you know...an actual flesh-encased throat?]

Um...was the skeleton magical? Or were you the only one actually drinking tea?

I'm not sure if it was actually tea she was having or something magical to simulate tea. It was at the Torchwood cafe in Everglade, where both the menu and the patrons are something else. And yes, she's a magical skeleton.

[ Look at him, making it sound like they're friends when "anon skelly" is his most-hated enemy in the five towns. But they did have a very civilized tea time. ]

I've learned it's sometimes best to... just not question it and accept things at face value. Saves you some headaches.

I think that's a very good thing to do here, considering how many different worlds people come from.

It is. I'm surprised that people get along so well, for the most part. There are surprisingly few cultural clashes and misunderstandings.

People probably make more of an effort to keep an open mind, since we're technically all outsiders here.

That's true. I would hope they do, at least, nobody can claim that their traditions are more right here, or should be followed. If anything, only the locals are entitled to that.

There's also the fact that people have a wide variety of special abilities here and death isn't guaranteed to be permanent. So people who'd normally solve their problems through violence are way more likely to be unpleasantly surprised when it doesn't work out for them.

That's true. And for every powerful troublemaker, there are equally powerful people who would stop them. I feel like a lot of the peace we enjoy here actually stems from mutually assured destruction... combined with the heavy price to be paid for resurrection.
