[Genessia City--Early Mornings/During the Day]

At the Library

The Library here was amazing--and Trunks may not be the type most would expect, but he actually kind of liked the building. So many books and subjects, and reading for fun was one of the few things he rarely had time to do. Not that he was entirely reading for fun now, as he's mostly browsing sections related to time travel and multi-dimensional physics...

At the Garden Park--Locked to Rose and/or Martha

Rose had asked to be taken flying, and the easiest time to meet and do so was probably during their usual meditation practice before work. Whether she'd talked to Martha or not Trunks was there as usual.

[Out and about--All Cities]

Checking on neighbors--Nova City, Heaven's Court Apts--Locked to Anastasia.

With the heatwave going on, Trunks is making it a priority to check on Ana. He's willing to also add her grocery shopping to his own, so she doesn't have to brave the heat.

Research--related to helping neighbors. Nova City, Heaven's Court Apts---Locked to Soma

Soma was the one who procured Anastasia's ruby circlet, which meant Soma was the one to talk to about how it worked. Just in case it went missing or broke. Because Trunks worried about Ana, and wanted to help, which meant understanding the tools she already head. Good thing he and Soma had gotten along; time to give the other a call.

Various shopping areas for errands

Feel free to run into Trunks at the Farmers Market in Attleton, or Pan Grocery in Genessia. Someone is the responsible adult, and actually glad to not have to scavenge for food anymore. Besides, it's good to have more supplies than not, when there are hungry half-saiyans and saiyans about. He might also be found around the Nova City Scrap Yard, or Sycamore Cycles.

Attleton--Colosseum--Various times--Locked to Bulla, Bulma/Mai/Cassian/Kaytoo/Dante.

Having a sister is an adjustment, and one usually gets ample warning--not a sudden 15 year old showing up. But Trunks is trying to learn and adjust, and Bulla has asked for training. He's not sure how much he can teach her, but he'll try. Besides, some people wanted demonstrations...

[Even in the heatwave, Anastasia still has school. But thanks to her magic circlet, she's fine, and she's keeping cool by tying her hair up in a cute ponytail. But this bright light bothers her eyes a bit.

School is out by now and she comes home to find Trunks coming down the hall towards her apartment.]

Hi, Trunks. How are you?

[He's not surprised, although he is a little annoyed at himself for forgetting track of the time. But he Ana gets an easy smile, and a wave in turn.]

Running around a lot, but that's normal. I'm glad my timing wasn't too off, as I forgot you had school still.

[A little bit sheepish there, one hand up and rubbing his neck.]

Actually I wondered if I could chat with you for a bit? I can bring over a cold treat, if you want too, since this heat is annoying.

"Oh god, it's hot. I'm dying." It was only 8 in the morning and hadn't even gotten that hot yet. And she was already a whining puddle of a wolf. "Why did I think the park was good for this?" Rose just flopped on her back in the grass under trees. STILL TOO HOT.

All the puppy whining.

And then she stripped off her tank top too. It's okay, she's still got her swimsuit and shorts on.

Sure, that's quite all right. Let me do some quick tidying up, okay? I'll leave the door open for you.

[She just needs to check to make sure her Pokemon didn't knock anything over that she needs to clean up.

Its a small matter and by the time Trunks does arrive with treats, Anastasia will have cold drinks ready in the living room.]

The swimsuit helps, even if Trunks is going to huff and try to not notice. Then again, he's in tank-top and combat pants, and doesn't seem to be affected much by the heat. Blame the half-saiyan physiology.

"You're not dying, Rose. Your ki is still steady." Patient, with perhaps a touch of exasperation. Look, he'll even be helpful; reaching into his pocket and pulling out his personal capsule case. Which means, pulling out one and a quick toss, then with a hoipoi-sound and some smoke, there's a mini-fridge.

[He figured she might want some time to get out of her school uniform--even if she does look cute in it. His concession to the heatwave is the fact that he's not wearing a jacket or sweater, just his usual tank top and combat pants. But it isn't long before he'll knock, with a softly called "excuse me?" in polite warning and greeting, and then come in.

Bearing a tray with what look like Popsicles with fruit in them.]

Honestly, your place isn't nearly as untidy as ours can be depending on what project is going on in the house. I think Mom misses having a lab on site...

[Normally she would change into lounging clothes, but...

Nah. Extra work she'd rather not deal with that instant. The only thing that did change was she took her circlet off and let her hair down.
But icy treats with fruit in them? Anastasia is delighted when she sees the tray, and a bonus beaming smile when she sees strawberries in them~

Anastasia motions for Trunks to come in and have a seat.]

They look yummy! We had a similar activity in Home Ec class, actually. I didn't think it could be done with fruit.

[But moving on.]

So, what did you want to talk to me about?

Rose whines and rolls about on the ground like a petulant wolf pup but the sudden mini-fridge appearance snaps her out of it.

And she instantly raids it looking for Vitex. "Did I ever tell you about Vitex?" ALREADY INTO A MEDITATION POSE JUST LIKE THAT. Drama wolf.

"I don't think I have any Vitex in there Rose, not unless it can be bought here."

Which actually was the only reason he'd bothered to replace his personal case. He'd had to get a new one in the alternate-past, and it seemed prudent, even if Bulma had given them a large stockpile too. So what was in there were drinks from his home-world, like Hetap, or that were found in Genessia.

"My original case got lost, so I replaced it when I was in the past, before leaving. What's in there is from my home or from here. But help yourself."

[Respectful and polite, and offering the whole tray as he comes and sits by her.]

I'm slowly trying some new things...it's not always easy in our house. It's also nice to not have to scavenge for whatever we can find that's edible, which is what Mai and I had to do until recently. These didn't seem too complicated. I have more over at our place, so these are for you and your household.

[He's shyly pleased okay? Cooking is not something he can do. Not that this counts as 'cooking' really--and keeping food supplied in a household with 2 half-saiyans and a full-saiyan isn't easy.]

Mostly I wanted to make sure you're doing alright in this heat, as well as ask a bit about your circlet. If I can, I want to see if we can find a way to duplicate what it does for you, so you have options in case something happens to it.

[Anastasia gives one a small taste. Nice and cold! Added strawberry bonus.]

That's sweet of you. Thank you.

[But she pauses.]

I'm doing all right. As long as I have the circlet, I'll be fine. But...

I'm afraid you'll need to talk to Soma about the circlet itself. He's the one who got it for me, after all.

"It can!!!" Ear to ear beam and she pulls out two bottles, tossing him one, before holding her own kiwi-lime to him to tap with his bottle. "Cheers!" And opened it up happily. If she'd been a whining pathetic wolf before, she'd be tail wagging now, and her ki settled right into the zone.

"My Dad's invention. Tonics, Mum called 'em. They're like the worst cross between pop and vitamin water." She laughed and finished off her whole bottle but hummed happily. "When I was stuck there, I was supposed to settle in and become the Vitex heiress. Like a corporate princess." She made a face. "Actually there was a --" She rolled her hand in a circle. "I dunno what they call 'em. Malfunction? Glitch?" She made a face and shook her head. "I think that might be too radical, people would disagree. But just before last Halloween I was a gargoyle, and the Doctor was a werewolf, and Jack was a werejaguar. But there was also one where I didn't go searching for the Doctor. I still have the diamond studs from that week in my drawer on the TARDIS. It was so weird. Not bad. Just... weird." A shrug. "I got really into the idea of being... Daddy's little girl I guess." She closes her eyes, falling into meditation before standing up and going through the yoga poses like a martial artist did kata. "The funny thing is? Even though I was so into it, I think it made me hate the Vitex. Sort of a resentment for not having my freedom and tying me down instead."

She practiced one foot and pulling her other leg high over.

"But the real me... I'm really glad for it! My Dad couldn't have funded his inventions without it, wouldn't have met me and Mum, or saved me, or had Tony, and I wouldn't have been able to make the Dimension Cannon either."

A laugh. "And here, they just remind me... no matter how far I run, he's still looking after me." She fell out of the pose, but like a cat, pretended she meant to, and swiftly went into another. "Is that weird?"

She fell into an upside down arch and tried to turn it into a handstand.

"I went nuts trying to track down everyone's source here! I wanted to know how it was getting here, track the exact timelines and universe gates. Eventually I just accepted it and took it as a good luck sign. I wanted to be here for Jack, because he had to do his world's Cardiff Torchwood without me or Pete, and I think -- well I know he had a lot tougher decisions than I did. And the first month or two I was here I was working 80 hours a week, three jobs, trying to put together enough money and connections, and I was really scared that I wouldn't be able to pull it off and I might let Jack down."

A hum~!

"So finding it was like... definitely a lucky sign. Like I just had to do it, and not worry so much about how it got here or why, it'd work out."

She sat back to normal and showed him the bottom of the empty label. "See that? Bad Wolf Distributors. Bad Wolf is me! So for all I know... I set up the means to get it here in the future just so I'd follow my own clues to the right path." Rose laughed. "Daft, I know, but it works, yeah?"

Well, I can do that too. I don't want to pry too much, but I also am worried about you, with this heatwave.

[He's having a popsicle too, if that's alright.]

By now thankfully Trunks is used to Rose's chattering on, often about any and every topic. Which he didn't mind--it was interesting. Apparently he'd also picked up the drink without realizing, but made a note he'd get more. Leaving the fridge out for now while he folded himself down to watch her do her yoga, sipping his own drink.

"If it works for you, then it works." At least that was his viewpoint, now mostly finished with his own drink, as he'd listened. "You and Mom would be able to share stories, as she's more the heiress than I am or ever was. Also the adventurer." Finishing his can up and examining his own label, and back up to his feet.

A hand held out for her empty can if she wanted to pass it to him. "Am I saving these, or you okay with my tossing them so we can continue?"

I'd say ask him anyway. He has more knowledge of magical artifacts than I do.

[She likes strawberries, but she's not going to hog them all.]

That is so. I take Primarina and Glaceon with me in case I need them. Even though Glaceon isn't fond of this weather either.

Glaceon is the one I met before? I can't imagine they would be.

[And he is sympathetic, even if he's blessed with half-saiyan genes. The heat is annoying, but not debilitating to him. Same with the cold, as long as he's 'healthy'. Which, since he's no longer having to survive on a starvation level diet, he's getting back to being so every day.]

I'll make it a point to call him then, and ask. But you can still tell me about why you react that way, if that's okay for me to ask? If not, it's alright.

"In recycling," she nodded firmly. "Recycling saves planets. Did you know there's a point where the space around planets can get too cluttered? I forget what it's called. Too many universes with different names for it. But seriously. Space pollution. That's how you know you really buggered up, yeah?"

She stretched again. "I love adventurin'. Favorite part of anything. The Doctor keeps asking what I want. His friends keep asking. I thought it was a bit obvious, yeah? Same thing I always wanted. Adventures."

But yes, she wants to get along with Bulma like the two best friends they never knew they had.

"How's she gettin' on these days? With Bulla? My Mum would flip right out if she had another kid show up all grown up without warning. She slapped the Doctor when I went missing a year. And chased me down through all those multiple universes. I have NO idea what she'd do then. Probably strangle him."

She wondered idly what Rose herself would do if her own future kids showed up. Probably laugh, to be honest. She basically adopted Amy for that reason, after all. COULD she even have kids? The Doctor here couldn't get Jack pregnant (which... Rose was never ever her whole life going to think hard about, ta.) but would Meta and her??? Would they? Even if they could?

Luckily for all that Rose rambles nonstop to Trunks, he is spared these thoughts in particular.

"Don't worry, I know." He's seen...maybe not through pollution like that, but the devastation that can happen to a planet. And had to live on that planet still. But he takes the two cans, easily crushing them to be more compact, and jogs them over to the recycling.

"Finish up your practice!" Called back to her, and hopefully Rose'll do that. Because he did say he'd take her flying. So he's also re-capsulating the mini-fridge. Back into the case, and into his pocket while he waits. "You definitely also do focus better while moving. Your Ki is steadier too."

[She gently chips away at the treat to get to the strawberry center, but she stops short.]

React in what way? Why I kind of... Wilt and whither in the heat?

[He's making a note to next time do a batch with just strawberries for her.]

Yes. I know I'm not the only one worried about you either. Torchwood has set up a sort of cooling place and shelter for people who have trouble with the heat. I don't think you need it, and I hope you won't need it, but I still wanted to check on you.

[The fastest way to her heart is through strawberries.]

Hmm... I don't need to leave home, unless the air conditioning breaks.

But anyways, I'm not like other humans. I'm a... "Off-shoot," I think is the word. We used to be one race, but some migrated out of the endless winter while my ancestors stayed, evolved and adapted.

We look identical, but all of our differences are on the inside.

[It's good that she's prepared, and he is listening attentively. Although he smiles a bit.]

I'm not like other humans either, in that I'm half-human. My father is from a race known as the Saiyans. They were a warrior race, and very adaptable. It's why the heat is annoying, but doesn't bother me otherwise. Most of my differences are also on the inside too.

So you're better adapted to survive in extreme cold then. Do you know what temperature range, or has that never come up?

She laughs, going back to meditating, and opens an eye with a grin as he returns and says that. "Yeah?" A quiet hum. "I guess that makes sense. Sitting still makes me... nervous. Ahhh you know how the world's always ending around you, and just because there's nothing you can do to fix it right away, it just seems like, as long as you keep moving, the solution will come to you, or you'll just come upon it? That's how it is for me." A nod! But given what she'd told him about how her Bad Wolf worked, was it really any wonder?

Hmm... It's hard to say... Sunlight is the biggest problem for me. Sixty degrees Fahrenheit, or fifteen Celsius is the highest I can handle in sunlight, while seventy-two Fahrenheit, or twenty-two Celsius is safe for me indoors.

Oddly enough, those heating blankets feel very nice. I could sleep with one. In fact, I already do.

[It never hurts to reaffirm theories and sciences: Uai has visited enough worlds with entirely different foundations that he knows not to expect his knowledge to transfer. So he's in that same section, browsing books on quantum theory.

This isn't a place where he usually finds other readers. Recognizing Trunks, he gives a bow of his head-- his fingers have just pried a book on string theory from the shelf.]
