Skateboards and fire hydrants

Who: Rose Tyler, The Professor/12th Doctor & YOU!!
What: Skateboarding. Yes, really.
When: 7/2
Where: ATTLETON!

First off: he was an alien with two hearts, a respiratory bypass, superior digestion, circulation, and overall senses. NOT FOR THE FIRST TIME AND PROBABLY NOT THE LAST: Rose felt a bit like a pet dog trying to keep up with humans. Or well, a wolf, really. Sure she was the big bad wolf, but her body wasn't engineered the same as his.

Secondly: She never asked what the temperature was like on Gallifrey or she'd have learned about the frozen supernova creating a double-sun effect, not as severe as Tatooine, but definitely far warmer than one Rose Tyler born and raised in London was all that good at dealing with.

Thirdly: Skateboarding in 100 degree Fahrenheit weather where the tar was literally melting on the pavement was by far one of her least brilliant ideas.

Especially with a man who once invited her to go lava surfing. (She had, of course, jumped at the idea of it, only to get taken instead back to Earth circa the late 1600s. The Doctor was like that.)

For all that the Professor looked a bit closer to his real age of 2200+, he was not having any troubles with his skateboard. And Rose might have been feeling the heat in a particularly Shakespearian way as she debated bonking him with her own board.

Which is why she did as promised, borrowed his screwdriver, and sonic'ed a fire hydrant to spray water into the street. Much better. Rose didn't even bother taking her tank top off, just let it soak. Making the bathing suit underneath quite visible. Fair warning, she will spray anyone who comes to complain, but also is nice enough to lend her skateboard and helmet.

Eventually some of the water from the hydrant would be diverted a little. It wasn't some nefarious person from the water company come to turn it off. Nor was it a police officer trying to come and make a vain attempt at arresting those responsible.

No. It was a little green youkai. Koishi was flying around rather quickly, diving and zipping around and getting absolutely soaked. Clearly she was just as hot as Rose.

She wasn't dressed like she normally was, however. She was wearing a black tank top and matching shorts that were done up on each side with a row of shiny silver buttons. In fact, her usual outfit was folded neatly a short ways away and topped with her signature hat.

"Hello there!" Lots of waving.

Rose giggles and waves back.

"I'm surprised you're out in this," Rose laughed. "I wouldn't be, but I'm daft. Do you wanna stay in the TARDIS for a bit? I know you said Hell is usually frozen. And the Doctor, Bad Doggie, said I could invite a few friends to stay the duration, yeah? You can even find the frozen room if you want."

Koishi drifted down, completely soaked. Without her sleeves it was rather obvious she wasn't human. Her skin from the elbow up was mostly translucent showing grey muscle underneath. It was also rather obvious where her tentacles emerged from her arms and they were even visible beneath her skin laying between the large muscle groups..

"I'm not usually out when its hot but I forgot it was gonna be hot today so I went out and then it was hot. So I was thinking about going home but I kept getting distracted.

She perked up at the offer to hang out in the TARDIS. "Oh wow! Really? There's a frozen room? We should go see it sometime!" She had never been in the frozen room... Though letting her wander the phone box on her own was probably a bad idea. She would never be seen again.

"ME TOO!" Rose admitted hard. "I spent all yesterday in a blanket fort in the TARDIS watching Disney. Until the Doctors told me they were setting up an emergency cold room in the Tower, so I packed all our storage into capsules, I totally forgot! And then I got carried away wanting to skateboard."

She laid down in the middle of the street in the fire hydrant's wake with her back on her board, but braced so she didn't go rolling anywhere, though she took off her helmet to enjoy the soak. SO HOT.

"Yup! Frozen room, swimming pool in the library, waterfall room, anti-gravity room. I'd say you could ask the Doctor what else there is, but I doubt even he knows all of it," she stuck her tongue out at the Eyebrows Doctor.

"I dunno what Disney is but blanket forts are the BEST!" Koishi drifted over 'sitting' down next to Rose. Of course she was still flying... but she looked like she was seated so it counted. "It's too hot for a blanket fort right now though..."

She shifted, several tentacles sliding down her arm, unraveling from her hidden internal pockets. She held them out, letting the water cool them before retracting them. It did wonders to help cool her off.

"A pool in the library seems like a bad idea. But frozen places are nice. And waterfalls are nice!" A pause. "Also, I dunno what anti-gravity is."

"Cartoon musicals. We'll watch some with you. Not in the TARDIS! The TARDIS can be as cold as you want! And warm too."

A laugh. "We'll show you that too. Depending on the Doctor. But you can tell him I asked, yeah?"

"Whats a cartoon?" She's a mountain dwelling flesh eating monster form feudal Japan. She only recently learned that bacon was a thing. Please don't hold it against her.

"Alright! I like learning about new things. It's a lot of fun!" Despite this she was making no attempt to move. The water was too nice.

"Mmm animated drawings put together in a full feature length story like a play or puppet show. You'll see."

More laughs. And Rose doesn't move either. "I'll lend you my skateboard and you can try it out." Notice Rose's lack of movement too. EW HOT. EW MOVEMENT.

"I still don't get it." And she probably never would all things considered. She would just have to watch them. "I love puppet shows though."

She tilted her head at the offer. "I love trying new things but what's a skateboard?" You'll have to move off of it for her to use it, Rose. But no doubt she'll have fun... until she gets hot again, at least.

"They're similar. Ish. In the story sense. Kind of." She was never going to be able to explain it.

But she got off the skateboard, and popped it up to hand it over to Koishi, though she still bit her bottom lip and decided to try to put her helmet on the youkai anyway. Safety first....????? Even if it was probably going to be crazy uncomfortable for her third eye.

"It's a board with wheels. Go nuts."

The helmet fit just fine. Without Koishi's third eye attached to her head there was plenty of room. Satori, no doubt, wouldn't be able to wear one though.

"Ohhh!" She took the board after tilting the helmet up a little so she could see properly. She reached up and spun one wheel with a finger before putting it down on the ground and rolling it... But she wasn't on it. She floated after it and gave it another roll before curiously landing on it. She was surprisingly well balanced, tilting her head before... she just began rolling.

"Ooooh. This is neat Miss Roses!" She was totally cheating and propelling herself with her flying power.

Rose laughed at that and gestured for Koishi to come back to the hydrant.

"'Ere. Let me show you how humans do it, and then you can make up whatever tricks you want, yeah?"

She leaned a little, propelling herself back over to Rose and floating up and off of the skateboard.

"Alright. I bet you're really good at it."

"Nah," Rose laughed, "I'm terrible, but..." she gave a quick demonstration or two. "And turning you go like this, yeah?" A shrug as Rose got off and returned it to the yokai. "And there's all sorts of tricks and stuff... and I can't do them at all."

"Ohhh..." She took the skateboard and got on it... She seemed just fine with balance, though pushing it seemed to be another matter entirely. she didn't seem to quite have the hang of it. She would push and stumble forward and couldn't quite seem to get it to roll decently...

"This is strange Miss Roses. It does't make sense." She had never been on a skateboard. Or even a bike or scooter. The latter of which might be the best option considering her arteries and how they were positioned and the risk the pedals posed.

"This seems more like a human thing..."

"Probably, even if I am waiting for the Doctor to catch up. Tell you what though, why don't you ride along with me? You've got the balance fine, and everything's more fun with friends, yeah?" Rose gave one of her signature tongue poking through teeth grins.

Koishi looked down at the board and then back up at Rose. "Umm... I'm small but I don't think I can fit on that board with you Miss Roses." She drifted up again, wiping some water from her face. "I was made for mountains and trees. Not wheel boards."

None the less she moved forward, hovering near Rose and still enjoying the water. It probably wouldn't be too hard to drag her along behind the skateboard with her flight.

"Ah really?" A laugh. "Wanna piggyback? But you'll be in charge of not letting me fall over, okay?"

That's nice. He watches her have fun getting wet as he rolls back and forth, not really doing anything particularly noteworthy or impressive, just the movement. He's wearing his usual hoodie and shirt, not even really sweating in the heat. But he is wearing sunglasses so that's a thing.

Rose laughs, takes her shirt off, balls it up, and throws it at his face.

"Better than a water balloon, yeah?"

"Something like that," he catches it and winds it up. "Maybe I'll use it for a rat tail." He's not really going to do that to her but he wonders what she might say.

"Don't you dare!" growl growl! Hackles on end!

"Don't you trust me?" He skates nearer to her, grinning though if it seems a bit forced it's only due to your imagination.

Rose's answering grin is as infuriating as that rhetorical-ish question.

She knows he's scared. He might not be addressing it, but the thing with Clara and his younger self shook him up. He wasn't trusting himself with her. And she couldn't blame him. She said she was invulnerable, only to get herself hurt like she said she wouldn't. She said he was the fragile one, and oh he was, but even Bad Wolves had weaknesses, and he was all of hers.

Rose crooks a finger, luring him closer instead of answering verbally, eyes glittering mischievously.

And the minute he's close enough, tugs him into the stream of hydrant water and tangles him up in his own hoodie, before skating off, laughing.

He honestly doesn't expect it and flails a bit in a completely unheroic way before sitting hard on the asphalt. And then he just remains there getting wet, but pushes his hoody back so the cold water can splash on his face and hair.

"I deserved that."

He gargles some just for effect and spits it back out.

"Don't suppose you'll be coming back this way, he asked completely innocently."

SO MANY GIGGLES.

"I dunno~!" she called back teasingly, but of course skated back towards him, "Are you just hoping to get me close enough to try to throw me into the spout?"

But her grin was clearly daring him to do something.

"It feels good. You might like it. Better than the heat." He doesn't seem to be making any move toward her. It's possible he is completely innocent after all.

"Gods YEAH, the heat is--" She was drawn in like a moth to a flame. But she snapes out of it an arm's length away and peers at him suspsiciously, "How can you wear that in all this anyway?"

"Talent." An arm's length is all he needs. He pounces and draws her right into the spout before tickling the hell out of her in sheer revenge.

GIGGLES!!! All the squirming and flailing and trying not to kick as she protests this unjust treatment!!!

"NOOOOO!" but no one hearing this could mistake those giggles for anything but sheer joy!

"No fair, no fair!" Flail flail! She also tries to roll him into the grass and pin him down mostly just so can keep track of the wily hands that are everywhere.

It is successful though with the water it's more mud now. However being rolled does not stop him from being wily and he thinks best on his ba-- feet. He continues his work, grinning.

"Do you cede, Rose Tyler?"

"NEVER!!!"

That's okay they be a freaking mess. What else is new? It's just on the outside for once.

"US TYLERS NEVER GIVE IN!!!" She's said this before. And he's met her Mum and Dad and how over the top they are. Honestly they make Rory's persistence look like a kitten learning to hunt a feather compared to tigers stalking prey. Besides, the Doctor had to learn that punching through diamond thing somewhere!

Also Tylers fight dirty. Which he should know, again from her parents and her.

Sure his Bad Doggie face had no sense of shame or proprietary, as evidenced by the collar, but this face was embarrassed by that, which meant --

Rose worked on undoing his his clothes. Unlike her, he probably wasn't in swim trunks. >:3

Right. No. He scrambles away from her before she can get far, slipping a little on the mud.

"You win." Because he was not having that kind of fight out here here things could get ...awkward.

She stands up, both fists in the air, intending to yell VICTORY or something along those lines--

BUT DOUBLES OVER DYING OF LAUGHTER INSTEAD.

"WOOHOO!" She manages both hands in the air... but still doubled over laughing.

And head thrown back. "IF YOU COULD SEE YOUR FACE!!!" She tried to wipe her eyes of all the water soaking her, but her arm wasn't much drier. "Oh my god, Micks and Jack would be so proud." STILL LAUGHING.

Yes yes. Glad you're amused. You're not getting the shirt back though and he gets back on the skateboard but not going anywhere in particular.

"Oi!" That's okay, she just chases after him... on her own skateboard, of course. As you do.

He'll give her a chase, keeping just ahead of her, but doubling back through the water a few times just so she won't die of heatstroke.

She appreciates it, and laughs about it the second time through. "Is this what normal pet owners are like? Having to remember less adapted life forms' limitations?"

"You're not a pet." It's a joke and he knows it is but she isn't. He's just trying to look out for her. That's all.

Nah, it needs saying with Missy and all.

She zooms in, leans up and kisses him, slowly pulling away leaving their hands touching as long as possible.

"Better not be. Come on, I found the skatepark, and I know you're dying to show off." Well, she assumes he is. He usually is. But if he says he's not, she'll believe him.

"It's fine..." he's bored with this anyway a bit. "Let's find somewhere cooler with something good to eat." He'll skate there, of course, since they have the boards and all--but he's not really invested in the idea of showing off.

"Mm!" Rose just beamed ear to ear at him. For a skinny twiggy thing that was about bulky and broad as Fluffy, he sure ate a lot. Then again, Ten reguarly went through so much sugar he just straight up ate sugar packets when she took him running.

"Race ya!"

Not that she knew where they were going yet, but that was part of the race. Whoever found the place and decided that was the end.

"You're on!" Though he doesn't make much effort at it, preferring to coast along and see what Rose picks. It should be more interesting than whatever he can come up with since, obviously, he'll know in advance.

Rose careens along, down streets, turning at random whenever she thinks it'll give her an edge on the Doctor, and finaly skids to a stop, ALSO at random, just because it smelled good.

Whatever, she's a bad wolf at heart, of course she's going to follow her nose! She pops it up, and leads him inside an Indian-Thai fusion restaurant. "Now there's something you don't see every day," she grins, trying to brush slick with sweat and still damp from being soaked hair out of her face with a casual finger like she's not a bit of a mess. "Ah, unless you do," she stuck her tongue out, actually half hoping to prompt a story, joke, or admittance he had indeed, not had such a thing before.

"It's strange to walk into one of these things and see everyone with only two arms." He takes her hand though, kissing it absently. It's cool in here and maybe he enjoys that or maybe it's easier to be somewhere instead of just a vaguely defined space doing vaguely defined things.

"Weren't there two of these within half a mile of the Estates?" He's pretty sure but then again he can't precisely remember the era or if they were spontaneously existing and he's kind of sure that one was at least fifty meters above the estates at some point in time but it's all muddled.

"I hope not!" Tongue loll grin. "It'd be a shame to come all this way for something that was just in my backyard that I missed out on for chippies all the time, yeah?"

Gestures with a peace sign that they are two, which is probably obvious, but also that they're not waiting for anyone. And she's all giddy, holding his hand. <3

"Well, you know, everywhere is different. You could be surprised even two blocks from your flat." He tries to suggest that they have a somewhat intimate aura-- and it seems to work as they are lead to an out of the way booth, a semicircle couch and table set off with the blue of a fishtank. He relaxes in the dimness, still holding her hand.

"Nice in here, isn't it?"
