Now that I've primarily gotten shit moved into office... guess I should make a speech or something...
Well, for starters, to everyone that voted for me, thanks. To those that didn't, no hard feelings. I know I didn't give people much to go on besides taking over for Cassian and keeping his stuff going, but since actually throwing my name in the race I've been doing something thinking, and I've come up with a few ideas.
My primary objective is to address the financial situation the guardian's office is in. As you've probably noticed we've had a few fundraisers here and there. That's fine, I'm not trying to deter anyone from doing that, but at the same time I would like to be able to reliably pay my deputies without worrying about next month's income. I've got some ideas that I'll be floating to mayor Cecil and working to just make things more profitable in general.
Second, as the home to the only place in Genessia that has a place where people can fight to the death with no repercussions, I'd like to open that up more publicly and encourage people with issues with one another to settle them there, and not bother anyone else. Exceptions obviously apply.
Those are the two big things. That said, if anyone has suggestions or would like to talk to me, I've got an open door policy so please feel free to contact me.
Also, because of the imminent heat wave, I'd like to put out a call to anyone with wind, water, or ice powers. Anyone interested in helping out, contact me.

We need to celebrate. Preferably with booze.
Private to Kay and Cassian
Cassian, I've already got your first assignment, Kay you're riding shotgun on this one.
Private to Weiss
I can only assume you were the 'icicle sensei' Bakugo listed as potential deputy. I'd like to talk to you about him. During the election I just saw a kid with serious anger issues and ambition. Want to know what you saw in him.
Private to Bakugo
You want this job? Fine. Come to my shop and beat me in a fight and I'll let you have the job. No holds barred. Bring whoever you want to cheer you on or whatever, but this will be a purely one on one fight.

And yeah, now's as good a time as any. What's on your mind?

Yay, perfect! I was wondering if I could bring Katsuki-san on a tour of the office. He wants to see what it’s like for me to be a Deputy and understand how our system of working together allows us to be our strongest selves ever~.
Of course, I wanna ask if Kay-san is comfortable with it too.

As long as he's on his best behavior, that's fine. As soon as he challenges someone to a fight, he's gone.

And of course! Don’t worry, he’s pretty good when he has someone to translate him. Katsuki-san does want to be better. But everyone keeps rewarding his bad behavior. So I think we should show him ways to communicate and work that don’t require a fight, you know? And help him lose gracefully.
He did so well during the debates! He totally got it together and explained his policies without dropping the F bomb every breath~!

It's a good thought, but having been there myself, I can tell you that it's going to take more than just showing him how to do things without fighting. He's going to need a punching bag more than anything.

Got that covered! Katsuki-san has me to spar with. I’m pretty good at beating him up, too. So no one else really has to beat him up.

I don’t think he really wants to hurt people, you know? He wants to be respected by them. If you fight him to put him down, he’s going to get right back up and try again. You just reinforce his behavior and he only learns that fighting is how you get respect. But if you fight him as an equal, so both of you get stronger and learn something, he’s a lot happier! I want him to learn to respect people, even if they don’t fight, which is why I think a tour might help. He probably hasn’t seen many heroes who don’t punch to win...
But in a Attleton, we’re above that! That’s what makes us professionals. Professionals don’t challenge others to violent contests or equate respect to strength.

That said... we both need to do this. Neither of us is going to be satisfied until this happens.
no subject
No! No, he does not need that! You aren’t going to make this any better by doing this. Whatever you do, don’t challenge him to any fights! If you truly believe that he needs to be beaten down, then you can ask someone else to do it. But you absolutly cannot, okay!? You need to set an example, as the new Guardian of Attleton, and this is not the example that he needs!

[Satou closes her eyes right, keeping herself in check. She is about as frustrated with Dante right now as she gets with Katsuki.
It takes a moment, but she finds the calm that lets her deal with the other.]
... with all due respect, sir. But you don’t. ”Forcing him to use his head, by tiring him out?” Pushing someone who communicates with violence into a corner, and then thinking he is just going to start using head? No, that won’t work. You, sir, are showing Katsuki-san that you communicate with violence. You are reinforcing this way of thinking, even if you do not intend it.
He stepped down in the debates. I scolded him, I talked to him, and he did his best to put his feelings into words, not swears and death threats. He’s been upset about losing and I finally talked him into a non-violent approach to dealing with it. I will not allow you to take away his progress.

Violence is just as much a part of humanity as everything else. He's always going to think with his fists, that's just part of who he is. That's a part of who I am. The trick is finding healthy ways to expend that energy to keep the fires down to a lantern, rather than letting it rage out of control into a towering inferno.
The world needs warriors and diplomats alike. You're lucky that you can do both. Guys like us aren't so lucky.

[She's feeling her temper slipping. It's frustrating to hear that reasoning, given that she's been reduced to a killer back home. She doesn't think shes 'lucky' at all: She's tough. But Satou has to maintain her growing frustrations and remember who she's talking to: Her superior. Who is making decisions that she does not like.]
He won't be fighting you. So I'm sorry, but you're going to be disappointed. I'm going to begin prepping him for taking a tour of patrol route and seeing what I do for work, before I think about taking him to the office. I have a schedule to plan out, so if you'll excuse me.
