[Video] A stealthy return
[The video feed clicks on to reveal a cloaked and hooded figure speaking, doing their best to keep their face hidden. From the sound of the voice it's probably female, but it's a bit gruff and growling so it's hard to tell.]
It has been some time since I've worn this form, or last been to this place. I made some enemies and some... acquaintances the last time I was here, but I do not wish to jump to any conclusions. I know people come and go rather readily here, but since the introduction with Miss Schnee and the comm device seem to be the same, I would like to ask if Professor Ozpin is still here.
[He at least, seemed like he would make a trustworthy ally.]
I would also ask if the species name Laguz means anything to any of you. In the meantime I might be looking for work as a bodyguard, hunter, or tracker, if anyone needs such things.

[Ikki smirks at that.]
I wouldn't get my hopes right just because people know the species.
[Ashunera wasn't exactly a known figure outside of Tellius either, though she wasn't going to reveal her name since her true name wasn't common knowledge in her world.]
It also doesn't hurt that I've seen a certain heron princess chirping up a storm already.
[Lethe was certainly a bit irritated by his prodding, since he clearly knew a lot more about her world than most people would.]
I am a historian, so it's part of my job to keep track of such things.
[This was at least partially true, she knew more about Tellius history than most Beorc alive even before she met Yune.]
[Ikki can sense that she's irritated but he has seen how she's playing the "I don't really know those people" card after Leanne assaulted her so he's irritated as well. Not to say that Leanne couldn't make a mistake but... Something told him this wasn't the case.]
Anyway, I'm not sure how a historian works but I figure I should give you a fair warning to not get close to the Heron Queen. As a historian I take that you're well aware of the conflicts that there have been between Beorcs and Laguz, so we can't just let any Beorc come and approach her. Nothing personal but we don't really have any way to tell that you won't try to keep her as a pet or burn her alive.
[Shut up, shut up, shut up! SHHHHH!]
I am well aware of the tragic history between Laguz and Beorc, and I have no intention of causing her harm or getting too close to her if I can avoid it.
[She's starting to suspect... the protectiveness, the extensive knowledge of Tellius.]
Are you perhaps the Phoenix I've heard about?
[He supposes that it's not a hard conclusion to come to.]
I'm afraid you're mistaken. I do not know this Phoenix you are referring to.
[Yes, he just used the same reply she gave Leanne and made sure to match the tone and everything. Except for the wide "I-know-I'm-being-a-jerk" smile he's sporting.]
[... If she had a pie she'd probably waste it throwing in his face right about now.]
I see. Obviously I must have just jumped to conclusions.
[He can cook two for her, one to throw at him and one to eat. But she would have to come home for that.]
Obviously. I suppose if I ever meet this Phoenix, I shall have to inform him that you're curious about him.
[And he did it again, mimicking her words to Leanne from before with a small variation.]
Or am I jumping to conclusions too?
[Like if you're a phoenix?]
That is jumping to a conclusion, I merely heard about a phoenix that is apparently the husband of the Lady of Serenes.
[She is totally curious about him.]
Thank the goddess that there are beorcs like you who care about recording the history, you probably know about several events and people that most don't.
[Ikki hums and nods in understanding.]
I feared so, to be honest it makes more sense like this. Who would ever want to hear more about a phoenix that married the Heron Queen? Even for history, that's Laguz affairs, far from a priority for a beorc historian like yourself.
[It seems he's trying to see how many times he can call her "beorc" in one go.]
You bring up... an interesting point. I happen to believe no matter how small one might seem, you still effect history in ways you may not even realize.
[Must not growl... must not growl.]
Phoenixes are not a form of Laguz that have ever been recorded in all of Tellius history, and since the heron tribe nearly went extinct, the continuation of the heron species is of relevant interest to all of Tellius.
An average, even if sage and historian, beorc.
[He can't remember the last time he smiled so much and been such a jerk. Oh, wait, he can, it was back in Nautilus with Ace. Either way, Ikki keeps smiling and looking way too proud of being a jerk.]
But it's not a priority for a beorc historian like you, is it? If it was it would be natural to be curious about this Phoenix, who I've not met or seen, but you said you weren't curious at all.
Besides, since phoenixes aren't a Laguz form that has ever been in Tellius as far as it's known, isn't it possible that their union will work the same as between a beorc and a laguz? In which case the children would be Branded and the heron species could go extint, at least on the Heron Queen's part. But that may be good for your people, the beorcs I mean, that way they won't have to feel threatened by a bunch of birds anymore.
Your prejudice against Beorc is palpable, and I have no interest in continuing this conversation.
[There might be a bit of a crashing sound as Lethe throws her communicator against the ground. She seriously hates every single man the heron princess has shown romantic interests in right now.]
[And crashing goes the communication. At least now he can laugh outloud all he wants.
Hopefully someone else will manage to bring her home or he will have to go for her himself, and it won't be pretty. Not that he minds scratches and bites and what not, but he supposes it's probably better to let her breathe.
A little.]
