You show one or two your badge, let drop your first name once or twice, and somehow the last case you worked on is all bungled up on the grapevine. What are you, all playing telephone? Daniel Solanos had a lot of misinformation surrounding his murder, but my name is Detective CARVER. [GROWL GROWL.] Don't call me by another name, no matter where you hear it from. Especially not reckless scuttlebutt. And no matter how bungled things were, even if you want to call me the worst cop in California, I've definitely never been the prime suspect in any of my own murder investigations. This is why partners are important. To hold you accountable and even hold you suspect. Bah.

Genessia or Everglade? Which is better for an American detective? Or I'll let Chrysalis decide. But might as well get the locals' opinions. Same for digs. How's the rent and general attractions in both? And takeout.

You know... Like, I'm not sure what to, like, address first. The rumours or, like, the fact that you sounded as if, like, you came from several centuries ago.

And rumors are just that. There's a billion pop songs about how you shouldn't believe all you hear.

I'm pretty sure I know who did it, even if I do think his Dad confessed and covered up the evidence for him.

And I don't know who Satou or Elsa are, and that was just painful to listen to. And the voodoo? I mean it's possible, but--

In a world where, like, not even the town it happened is known?

I, like, asked around already, checked the directory again. There's actually, like, another man with Emmett as their first name and, like, someone named Daniel. Seems, like, more possible the rumour is about, like, them than you.

Also, like, seems this is normal. Those short of rumours, like, start running around for, like, a few days. Doesn't seem, like, any of them are ever true.

[Sorry, she couldn't stay put when she heard rumours that could have been about you.]

Do you deal with non human creatures on a regular basis?

[GRINS. He's so pleased by her laughter and reaction. HAPPY DOG TAIL WAGS MENTALLY.]

I kind of like the idea of Scooby Dooby Doo, everything is real, nothing is cliche, who new mysteries to even mystery cases.

It seems that way, but, like, if you want to investigate a bit more. I think, like, it was just a coincidence. Seems there was, like, another rumour about someone falling in a swamp that, like, ended being radioctive and becoming, like, a radioactive monster.

Which could, like, happen here but ended being, like, just smoke. Most of the people that, like, seem to be on those rumours don't, like, have our pendants or devices so...

[The locals that already rarely actually do much with them in general.]

So it's more clues on what makes us "real" so to speak.

It also, like, makes it seem as if we're, like, more important to them than it may seem. I've not been able to find, like, any rumours about people not in the directory.

[So they are the local entertaintment somehow.]

Yes, yes it is.

[That's a lie. But he's sticking to it.] No we're using telephones. Playing telephone is when you convey a message through a lot of people whispered, so it gets all garbled by the end. Even if no one intentionally changes it to be annoying.

Are tacos your favorite?

You could work or investigate there. You do not have to live there.

Unless you are ready to face unknown dangers in your own home.

That's weird... and really creepy.

It's definitively creepy, like, how do they even know what names to, like, use in their rumours? Again, this place is, like, too big and actually has, like, a lot of people. And those without pendants don't, like, have those communicators and thus no directory...

[So how do those people actually get wind so quickly of people being around. Or remember they are there.]
