Heard it through the grapevine / Video
You show one or two your badge, let drop your first name once or twice, and somehow the last case you worked on is all bungled up on the grapevine. What are you, all playing telephone? Daniel Solanos had a lot of misinformation surrounding his murder, but my name is Detective CARVER. [GROWL GROWL.] Don't call me by another name, no matter where you hear it from. Especially not reckless scuttlebutt. And no matter how bungled things were, even if you want to call me the worst cop in California, I've definitely never been the prime suspect in any of my own murder investigations. This is why partners are important. To hold you accountable and even hold you suspect. Bah.
Genessia or Everglade? Which is better for an American detective? Or I'll let Chrysalis decide. But might as well get the locals' opinions. Same for digs. How's the rent and general attractions in both? And takeout.

You know... Like, I'm not sure what to, like, address first. The rumours or, like, the fact that you sounded as if, like, you came from several centuries ago.
[She's amused either way.]
[Action]
[Totally helping his case there.]
And rumors are just that. There's a billion pop songs about how you shouldn't believe all you hear.
[Action]
[She giggles and shakes her head.]
But, like, I mean, have you bothered to, like, check those rumours a bit?
[Action] 1/2
[He pretends to flip his nonexistent surfer hair.] Like. Hey. We can't all. Like. Be. As... Hawaii 5-Oh as the rest of you.
[Action] 2/2
I'm pretty sure I know who did it, even if I do think his Dad confessed and covered up the evidence for him.
And I don't know who Satou or Elsa are, and that was just painful to listen to. And the voodoo? I mean it's possible, but--
[Head tilt.]
[Right. That's pretty serious business where she's from.] Want to investigate it? [Far be it from him to NOT investigate or tug on loose threads. He's a rottweiler. All things will be chewed and tugged!]

Um.. so, also yes we are all playing telephone! That's how we're talking right now! [ Oh, Detective, you are just a silly. ]
Takeout is great! They have tacos!!
no subject
[That's a lie. But he's sticking to it.] No we're using telephones. Playing telephone is when you convey a message through a lot of people whispered, so it gets all garbled by the end. Even if no one intentionally changes it to be annoying.
Are tacos your favorite?
no subject
[ A small giggle. ] Ah, I have a lot of favorites though. It's really hard to just choose one.
And, so.. if you want to play telephone I can play with you!

[Sora. Stop being adorable.]
[Emmett has no idea how to handle this.]
[...]
[NONE AT ALL.] How do you play telephone with two people?

[He's pretty sure he's only managed to get a job there because one of his two most prominent gems is blue and because he isn't strictly speaking human any more. Never mind his disdain with a certain form of undead which, he's starting to learn, is really more a disdain with one particular vampire who makes a mockery of his reputation.]
However, if you did decide you wanted to risk making Everglade your place of business then I would be glad to assist you as well as a new recruit to their forces might be able.

Any different laws I should be made aware of first? [He's not completely sold on it, and in the end, he'll let his "partner" make the call, but he can't pretend the idea of guns not being enough makes him nervous. He doesn't even like to shoot if he can avoid it -- and never has had to use it on a call (outside of threatening) so....]

[Heck, they're not even from the same country and Lancer would hazard that they're likely not from the same era either.]

[If he starts taking the pills from the Doctor.... IF THEY WORK... And Leanne's in the Everglade, so if things get too rough...]
[HIS GUN WILL BE USELESS?!?!?!]
[But okay. It's not like he ever shot anyone anyway, and doesn't want to, and never did want to, he's not all Wild Wild West.]
[... A little Dirty Harry, but without the shooting.]
Are the laws any different in Genessia?
private video
That's the problem with being law enforcement in Genessia. The laws are completely in the hands of whoever is currently Guardian in a town. You'd best speak to someone from Everglade about Everglade's laws, there's been a divergence between what the laws say and what's actually enforced, especially in regards to humans in town. Attleton's are pretty straightforward. Don't kill, don't steal, don't cause trouble and if you do cause trouble we put you on court TV for public name and shame.

So enjoy your skeleton.]
Unless you're keen on dealing with people such as myself, perhaps it's best you stay out of Everglade. It gets messy and I'd rather not have more unaffiliated people sniffing around where they shouldn't~
[Anonymous video]
Is that supposed to scare me?
[Anonymous video]
Of course not, darling~ Merely a suggestion as I'm nowhere near the worst of what's in Everglade. I'm probably one of the nicer residents as the way I feed doesn't require a person to die.
