Remember when that lady was asking on here if some of the people here are real and have souls?

Well, since people can be brought back from death if they give up a memory...what if you're giving up a tiny bit of your soul when that happens, and all of these people have died and been brought back over and over again?

Well, aside from, like, going all crazy and killing someone over and over again, which I, like, oppose to and I think many would... I suppose a way to, like, check the theory would be to, like, try to find proof that those people were ever like us. So, like, try to find stuff from before those who have been here, like, for the longest time first arrived. Or, like, find their pendants or, like, traces of those ever existing.

That would be, like, a lot of investigation work which may, like, not even turn out anything. I mean, like, I would assume whoever is behind this all would, like, cover that stuff well.

This isn't the first time I wound up in a place where death didn't work normally, and I use death magic. I'm wondering if I'm meant to try solving things like this.

[At least he didn't recall such a thing. Though admittedly he was honestly surprised that they have to make that type of a sacrifice in order to come back to life though. It was... he wasn't sure if it was better or worse than back in the last world. Or even back home.]

I mean... if you give up a memory you are giving up a part of yourself probably... But I wouldn't go as far as to say soul.

Hmm...well, if I got a job at the morgue, maybe I could see the bodies just after they died, and then I could try to find the person after they were resurrected.

I wasn't paying attention to that other discussion but I for my part don't believe that they are soulless. I still believe that people from other worlds being unable to sense their souls doesn't necessarily mean they don't have them, just that we are very different.

But it's an interesting theory you have there. It works as well as an explanation as any.

Maybe it doesn't take the soul away but it ties it into this world. I was in this other place that wasn't my home and death was weird there, too. There were angry spirits that everyone called darkness monsters that would go crazy and attack people at night. My magic was good at protecting against them.

Ties it into this world? Hmm... That would make sense, since it is this place which returns us. It would make sense that the more of their specific... magic is used on us, the more we are tied to them. To this place. Like being hooked up to an external power source and becoming ever more reliant on it to survive.

I wonder if there's any way I'd be allowed to research it. I mean, it would be useful for people to know, right? Especially the people who don't have anywhere to return to.

It's an interesting theory. [As someone who loses pieces of his soul almost routinely, Uai feels he either proves or disproves this theory. He doesn't have enough research yet.]

Yet, it would imply that large numbers of people routinely die in Genessia. Since I got here, it's been quite peaceful.

It would explain why this place kidnaps people. If it cannot create its own population, these cities will be quite empty and dull. But then, if we don't have anyone with an active memory longer than a few years... Where there a mass annihilation recently?

Satori pops onto the feed for a moment to add her two cents to the discussion. She's leaning against her hand a little in a reclined, yet pensive posture, her third eye blinking frequently as it looks at the camera. Spooky.

"Real and unreal are relative terms, I suppose. In the sense that we are individuals with our own thoughts, hopes, dreams and feelings, yes, we are 'real'. And according to all the knowledge we have, we are at least separate from those without necklaces. As for what happens after death in Genessia, I've not much experience of it. My sister has gone through the process and seems as normal as ever. As youkai, my sister and I don't have 'souls' in the same manner as you would understand. We're closer to spirits in that respect - our bodies are extensions of our 'selves' or 'souls' rather than containers for it."

Satori does, however, continue with...

"...However, are you aware that a similar price is paid when opening Archways or similar such changes to this world. Or at least, it feels that way, according to other's I've asked about the subject. A certain friend of mine considers this to be sinister. This is why, personally, I have tried to expire or give up my memories as little as possible. A small and slightly mean-spirited smile emerges from the dour youkai.

[Oh, he understands the idea of using one's body as an extension of one's spirit quite well. His kind create physical bodies with their own power to interact with the world while existing primarily on the astral plane. He's just talented enough at playing human to fool even his own brother and people who were quite familiar with his kind.]

I don't think my soul is in danger right away or anything...but I do think people should think about this stuff and not risk their lives without a good reason. They might be paying a higher price than they think, you know?
