[It's been hard to address in words the disastrous call that ended up with Azura at his apartment. Uai puts on a show of being calm, collected, and thoughtful, but he is none of these things. Not to the degree he'd like to be, anyway. So after childishly letting the event go unaddressed for weeks, Uai owes it to Azura to say something.
He intended to keep it private. Like a stupid nerd, he's rehearsed his words many times so that he won't mess up. But while his words are finalized, Uai is still a clumsy idiot when it comes to his emotions. Enough so that, in his fluster, he's switched the video from private to public.]
Uh, Azura? Sorry about the other night. I didn't mean for you to be at my place so late, or for things to escalate like that. Could I buy you an apology... something? Dinner, or a drink...? Do you like accessories?
[And now, finally realizing that he's made this public... Uai goes silent as it sinks in that he's embarrassed them both. ]
I should have just texted... Anyway! [acting like this was public on purpose:] Sounds like Fayren is a lot of trouble right now. Are magicks that backfire and corrupt people very common? Sounds like more risk than reward. [hypocrite.]
I wonder what the consensus for dealing with that mage will be? Is it her fault for going crazy, or do we blame the magic?
[action - Fayren]
[After all of that humiliation, Uai can be found wandering around Fayren. He's trying to gather information on that nature mage from the newspaper, particularly about her corruption. He can be found popping in various magic stores and poking around to learn more about the magical artifacts in Fayren. He's also trying to find artifacts for undoing the spell and helping the spellcaster.
If he sees any pendent bearers, he's surprisingly quick to address them. Also, very quick to step out of their way in a paranoid attempt to avoid contact.]
Ah, sorry. I'm in your way. [He'll take a few steps back and hold his hands behind his back.] Are you shopping in Fayren because you're curious, or do you practice this type of magic?

He is sincerely trying to keep his voice calm and level with his reply:]
Yes, well, perhaps... Briefly. Don't worry about me.
Are you doing well? I'm not sure if you read the paper, but the forests of Fayren may be unsafe for some time.
voice -> video
I can protect myself now. (She switches to video, using her human fingers to do so. Then that young mortal face transforms, brilliant light shrouding her form. Hands and feet become cloven hooves; her neck and face lengthen.
"She did not look anything like a horned horse, as unicorns are often pictured, being smaller and cloven-hoofed, and possessing that oldest, wildest grace that horses have never had, that deer have only in a shy, thin imitation and goats in dancing mockery."
She steps back far enough for him to see her fully. She shines like moonlight on the snow and her ears swivel in her curiosity.)
Can you see me?
no subject
Predictably, he does brighten up. Quite a bit, actually: Uai is almost uncharacteristically happy, and secretly very relieved.]
You're back! How wonderful! How did this happen? Did the magic wear off? How are you feeling?

...And just what do you need to apologize to my darling sister for?
no subject
Ahhh, well. It’s complicated. She was being quite kind and I may have asked too much.
[He asked for nothing, but Uai always sees himself as a guilty party.]

But this is one of Azura's sisters. She probably won't be a one-time encounter and it's in his best interest to be nice to her... For Azura's sake, more than his own.
All that said: How does he explain this without talking about his true form?]
I got sick and she came over to look after me. And spent the night, I guess? I didn't hurt her!

Uai, you don't need to worry. My visit was voluntary, you owe me nothing...
[But, she does admit she would like to see him in person again, so she considers.] I would hope spending more time with me wouldn't be out of obligation or something you felt you owed me.
no subject
... It’s an excuse to spend time together. Owing you favors is. So what?
no subject
Goodness, you don't need an excuse of course. You're always welcome to visit. But I suppose if you truly need one, I'll accept lunch, or dinner if you'd let me cook.
[She's going to hide the way that makes her stomach flipflop with a laugh and some light teasing apparently.]

How do you know Azura?
[Straight to the point.]
no subject
[Oops, he wasn’t thinking.]
Or, err. My friend. She looked after me while I was sick.
no subject
Yeah, she tends to do that.
[So very on to you.]

Not at all. [He keeps the hand extended and adjusts his tie with his free hand.] I'm a scholar; so I practice all magic, in a sense.
no subject
Scholar, huh? Just who I'm looking for, then. [Uai takes a folded paper from thin air, literally, and unfolds it. It's the bounty request from the paper.]
I'm trying to figure out more about what kind of magic this mage would have been using. The kind that could rebound to affect her mental state like this.
no subject
Hmm. Transubstantiation perhaps? Or some sort of spatial warping?
[He's idly musing to himself now as he observes the paper, but he flicks his gaze back up to Uai with a smile after.]
Well, we've got Life Magic, Spiritualism, Creation Magic...
[He rattles off. Reading the bounty for perhaps the fifth time today.]
She could have attempted imbuing some plant life with sentience. She could have called something into this realm and it's possessing, or perhaps her own creation has... She could have tried creating genuine life and that went awry.

[It's so nice, having inside jokes like this.]
Oh, whatever the nobility say. You know how it is in Fayren; all about whose hands you grease. Or spit upon. Personally I'd blame the magic, of course.
no subject
Of course you'd blame the magic. Then how do you feel about the case? How should we handle this mage whose actions are a by-product of clumsy magic? Would we forgive her?
no subject
[Ted tilts his head not unlike a dog at Uai's strange hypothetical. There's assumptions there Ted is so sure Uai is pretending not to consider. He must be in for a great joke.]
Haha, how do I feel? Humored; whatever punchline's coming up, it must be a good one.

haha. The distortions sounded a LOT like a witch, but she wasn't asking people. Rather, she was just observing and taking in the surroundings. Fayren was fun. Like a Dnd session just threw up allover the place]
Huh? Oh-what? No, I'm just here because..
...of reasons. Just want to visit. [pauses] What..kind of magic are you referring? Also you look familiar.
[she squinted her eyes, was this that guy who was stubborn and snobby back then?]
no subject
To distract her, he unfolds his newspaper clipping with the bounty details.]
I'm trying to figure out what magic she used. I can't very well undo it if I don't know how it happened. Any thoughts?

[Rapunzel was currently sitting by a tent of all things. She was out camping somewhere as a way to find herself in the world. She was at least slowly getting to an answer.]
