[Oh look, Mami’s usual serene smile is gone.]

I’m thinking I should start going to school here. I just….Working at the Bunny Poof Cafe is fine for now, but...I don’t think I want to be a waitress forever? But a lot of other jobs require some sort of qualifications.

The only problem is I don’t know what I do want to do. While I do have time to think about it, I’d rather have more of a plan to act on…

So my question to you all I guess is, what brought you to doing what you do? Or otherwise, do you have any suggestions for me moving forward?

I am pretty much in the same boat as you really. But I'm a cashier and delivery boy.

But for me, if I had to pick something... I would be brought by doing something connected to what I am passionate about.

Writing currently. It's calm, relaxing and fun. Also, a good way to write up how you might feel without being too obvious.

We all have that one thing we are passionate about. It's just figuring out what can work with it and also to actually have the skills to do it.

Opportunity. And probably fate too. The founder of Scribes and Scripts was a member of Fairy Tail. When she left this world, Fairy Tail's guild master, Mavis Vermillion, took over the ownership of the bookstore. Then Mavis was elected Guardian of Fayren, and because she knew we share the same love for books, she asked me if I would be interested in working with her. I don't know if she really needed my help, but I enjoy being a clerk, there.

In my world, less than ten percent of the human population can use magic. In other worlds, anyone with the desire and perseverance can learn, and in others, it doesn't exist at all. But if your world isn't one of them, and you're capable, there may still be time to enroll.

A magic school, huh?

Unfortunately, I don't know anything about tuition or whether or not they would require you to live in Fayren. I'm not a student there.

Silverleaf doesn't accept students who can't use magic. That much I do know.

Are you capable of using it, yourself? Forgive my asking, but learning about magic from other worlds has become something of a hobby of mine since I've been in this world. { Just out of curiosity. Definitely not for any sort of ulterior motive, even one that would probably be to everyone else's benefit and not just his own. }

I'm able to use magic, yes.

Considering my magic isn't so much spell or potion based, I'll need to look into it further before I commit to going to Silverleaf. Instead, people with magic in my world have 'common' weaker abilities, and then one main magical skill.

Even if I wouldn't be able to study at a magic school like that, I do believe I may learn something important by looking into it and possibly speaking to an instructor.

I'm trying to figure that out for myself. I go to school here, but it's summer vacation. So I decided to try some things that seems interesting and go from there.

More cooking, trying to go out to crowded places, reading on stuff, making craft, um...

Think that's it, for now. I also work at a flower shop, so I'm learning more about plants and their meanings, and how to take care of them.

I just went with what skills I learned from travelling. Having different experiences is a benefit that way.

In some cases, the higher paying jobs usually require degrees or experience of some kind...I'm afraid my experiences might not be the best help in this case. [She giggled, in part to hide the fact that she is very much afraid of using her powers right now.]

Though the system here is somewhat confusing, but I guess I can understand why jobs that require skills get more pay.

You should think about your career path first. Some schools may cater to a particular job choice. Setting the strongest foundation that you can will be key, so I commend you for making a plan.

Thank you. I am trying to figure one out before I decide for certain, at least in general terms, but I don't have a lot of time until school starts up again. I would rather not miss a year if I can help it.

But more than that I'd rather not go through school and find out I'm ill prepared for the future.

I believe transferring mid year is an option. It is the premise for many television dramas and movies that a transfer student arrive in the middle of the year, so I would hope it is feasible.

It is, but there's always the chance of missing something important by starting school mid year. So if I can figure this out now, it will be the better option.

Besides, I have to set a good example for my kohai.

It is a valid concern. I have heard that school is valuable not just for academic purposes, but for the exploration of one's emotional state and boundaries. As well as providing a safe environment for the complicated process of "puberty."

I've always loved music, so I became a composer here. A lot of my initial interest was self-taught, but I eventually hired some teachers for private lessons.

... That said. Maybe you should ask yourself what subjects you liked most in school? Were you thinking of going a math and science route, or arts and literature?

I'm not sure. It would probably be easier to help people with science...But I do like the arts. And magic would be more helpful personally to learn...[With the whole lack of soul thing going on.] But they all have their downsides as well.

At the end of the day, every skill and occupation serves some sort of purpose. Otherwise, no one would pay you for it. So think about what you can do for eight hours a day with a big smile on your face.

What did you like about the arts?

Well, I like cooking and baking. And then music is beautiful, especially when paired with dance. Some of the choreography I've seen is amazing. [And she keeps it in mind for when she tries to choreograph a move of some kind.] It can be mesmerizing, can't it?

Actually. That makes sense. [she laughs but nods] I'd say look for another job! I heard there's a job in bounty hunting..I might pick that up sometime. That'll be the best!
