2nd Lesson [Video]

[One day Yukihime will make one of her trademark grandiose speeches on this thing, I swear. But today she's being impossibly laconic again, starting the video with zero fanfare and a disinterested presentation.]

So, the house I was renting got incinerated during the fun. Most of my money was in it.

[There's a pause; even now she's weighing the merits of this against what she considers all the vastly easier options that don't involve having to ask favors of people. Or have anything to do with them at all, really.]

Which means I'm looking for a room. A free one.

[Here's where you might expect some kind of personal plea, an attempt to engage the audience's sense of altruism, but nope. The whole request is, despite being totally one-sided, just 'take it or leave it'.]

It's not that, but I think it's always nice to at least give an house mate a heads up.

How old are you and your roommate, anyway?

We're both 16. It's kind of young to be living alone without parents, but we managed so far.

[Kira peers into the feed whilst he was tying his pony tail. A laugh escapes him when the lady in the feed finished her little speech. He recognized the lady a little, but his memory was a bit hazy.]

You expect people to give you a free room?

[He laughs again, though he gives her a cheeky smile.]

I don't expect anything in particular. But someone already offered me one.

[Cynics hating cynics.]

Oh well. My pity goes to them.

Shouldn't you go and find means to earn money or something?

[melonsaregreat]

I have an offer there too. Whenever they finish building the school, anyway.

So are you just fishing for a beating or what?

[beareroflight]

So til then, what the heck will you do?

[Cheeky smile.]

Beating? Me? I don't know what you're talking about.

I've lived in far less hospitable places than this. I'll manage.

You, on the other hand, seem like the sort who turns everyone against them and makes themselves miserable no matter how easy things should be.

I suppose. At least things are quiet now, right?

[He then started to finish tying his hair in a ponytail. Then Kira just blinks at the woman.]

I do?

[Kira then asked with a puzzled tone.]

Have I done something wrong? I mean, I'm just telling you its wishful thinking to expect to live with someone for free. People will expect a form of compensation, one way or another.

"Free rooms are easy to come by, babes. Just pick an empty one you like and move in. Or, if you find one you like that's occupied, scare the tenants away!"

[melonsaregreat]

I thought about it.

[But you know, she spent hundreds of years living like that, she's giving the 'sort of vaguely fits into society' thing a try these days.

Can't say she doesn't miss the simplicity though.]

"So, what's the problem, babes? Can't find a place you like?"

I've gotten used to the places having people in them.

"What? You mean you want room mates?" Betelgeuse asked, a bit puzzled by that.

I'd offer room with me, but I don't know how comfortable you would be sleeping in a tent.

[Though the relief at hearing she's alive and well is plain to see on his face.]

I'm sorry to hear about your house, but I'm glad you're okay.

I wouldn't mind, but I'll hold out for better for now.

[It'd probably be a better question how comfortable he'd be living with her in quarters that close.]

And don't be. It wasn't like I'd gotten used to the place yet.

No worries. But if nothing else comes up, my door is open. There's plenty of forest around, y'know?

[It's not an idea he would have proposed if it bothered him. While he's shared tents with women before, he's also extremely respectful of their privacy.]

How've you been doing aside from losing your home?

[It would take some pretty extreme vigilance on his part since she basically doesn't care at all.]

I'm think I'm going to collect on those fish regardless. [Because like. The fact that she said she'd steal some. And he didn't really protest. Means he owes them to her now. Clearly.]

I haven't had much else to do. [That sentence is just laden with blame. What happened to sword practice?] I'll be running that Nanana girl's ruins but I doubt it'll be much of a challenge.

I heard about those ruins, I wouldn't mind having someone go with me.

[Oh, right. There was the whole panic of people discovering his powers thing.]

Well... You're more than welcome to come to my camp site. I have some training grounds set aside. It should be more than enough for us. I'm sorry, I'm not in the habit of blowing people off.

[Well, she didn't find out. She was too busy secretly fighting fires during the emergency.]

I already have a partner for that, but I suppose I can make two trips. Well, I'll come visit and we can hash it out.
