Put On Your War Paint!
WHO: Orihime Inoue, Shota Aizawa
WHAT: Seeking to become a deputy guardian (and future guardian) that others can depend on, Orihime asks Aizawa for some one-on-one training to be a better hero.
WHEN: August 7th, 2018
WHERE: Genessia City - Some Field Somewhere
It wasn't easy juggling so many responsibilities and tasks, but Orihime was quickly adapting, and loving it to bits. The busier she was, the happier she was, and it felt like her dreams were quickly turning into attainable goals. It was hard work, and she still had a long way to go, but she felt good about it. Her friends were good people that supported her, and there was just something about this city that made her think it was possible to do anything she wanted.
Except going into space. She'd figure that one out later.
Sporting the shimmering hoodie that 47 had fashioned just for her, and with her sneakers laced up tight, she wasted no time heading out to the field at a hearty jogging pace. Aizawa had told her to meet up with him there for her first day of training and she was eager to begin. So eager, in fact, that she was half an hour early. She wanted the extra time to stretch her muscles and do some warming up. Honestly she had no idea what the first lesson would be, as she was completely unfamiliar with the curriculum he taught to his students andson Katsuki, but this wouldn't be the first time she dived headfirst into training she knew nothing about.
She leaned to one side, then the other, and laced her fingers behind her back to raise her arms as far as they'd comfortably go.
Whatever the training was, she wondered if she'd be a good student for him. He had the ability to suppress abilities, but Orihime didn't really use her powers all that much. The shields sure, those came almost reflexively. Everything else was still very new to her, and Tsubaki... Well, she didn't really have the right 'killing intent' to use him all that effectively unless wild monsters were at hand.
Orihime moved through some of the old katas that Tatsuki had taught her all those months ago. The motions were familiar to her and made her feel a little nostalgic for her friend. It had been so long since they'd spent time together, longer now that Orihime was in another dimension. She just hoped that someday she'd be able to tell Tatsuki about everything she experienced here, good and bad.
Mostly the good, of course, so Tatsuki wouldn't worry too much.

While Orihime was stretching, Aizawa inched silently little by little behind her, in his sleeping bag. He came a little early himself and thought he take a nap before she arrived. Not only she was early, but stretching too. He didn't want her to loose her concentration so he let her be until she was done. It was only when he spoke, he gave away his presence.
"Oi. Don't forget to stretch your legs too. Once warm-up is done, we can finally start."
Orihime, meet sensei in yellow sleeping bag behind her, with a breakfast yogurt bag. Yum.

"Oh, Aizawa-sensei...! Did you come all the way here while you were in the sleeping bag?"
She really hoped that was the case, if only because she wanted to imagine the looks on people's faces as he hopped pogo-like down the street with his usual deadpan expression.
Quickly she crouched over each knee, moving from side to side, and forward to back. Stretches were good! It meant there'd be some sort of physical activity involved and she was ready to put her skills to the test!

Honestly Orihime, only you would had thought of something like that. Oh well, Aizawa made his way upright before he unzipped his sleeping bag while Orihime finished up her stretches. Thankfully he was wearing his hero attire. He tossed the bag to the side for now.
"First, you will complete the fitness test." He began as he walked around her to be in front with such a dead pan expression. "The point of it is to use your quirk and see where you stand thus far."
"Also..." He trailed off for a moment. "If I'm not seeing any progress, the lesson will be cut short and done. In other words, you failed." Wow, way to spell it out Aizawa.

She nodded solemnly to show she understood. The point of teaching was to improve the student, after all, so that made sense to her. And it was entirely possible that his lessons wouldn't match the areas in which she needed to improve.
"I'll do my best, Aizawa-sensei. I'm ready to begin!"

He grins, seeing surprisingly his threat didn't phase her, which was good. Now for the real test. He wanted her to be creative with her powers, teach her there might be other ways to use them besides how they're designed to do. He pulled out a pocket phone.
"There will be nine tests. First one, sit and reach. Come on, we don't got all day."
He even has the box with the measuring tape on top. Don't mind the whistle around his neck, or the fact he puts the whistle between his lips, and gives it a blow.

Even so, she had no complaints. She sat down on the grass, settling her legs in front of her, and stretched forward two times to get herself warmed up. For the third, she went as far as she was able (this was one area where being big-chested put her at a mild disadvantage), fingertips inching past the toes of her sneakers.
"Ultraaaa... REACH!"
no subject
"Next is sit ups. Let's go."
He whistled, and even helped anchored Orihime's feet if needed with his feet. Body posture was important. "I'll count. Give me as much as you can in a minute." He wondered if she would use her power here. Oh well, if not, there were other tests awaiting her.

She was fit, but not supernaturally so. There was also no sign of any power manifestation on her part.

"Next is flex arm hang." He looked down. "Let's head to that bar over there." He pointed to the jungle gym set. "I'll time you to see how long you can stay up there."
no subject
She crouched before leaping up, catching the bar in her hands, and hung there. Her upper body strength wasn't great compared to a boy's, but it was better than most girls her age, she supposed. After a few moments, she tipped her head back to peer at Aizawa past her arm.
"And you want me to use my abilities for a better time? Or would it be better if I didn't rely on them?"
no subject
He let that imagination roll with her. Maybe this time she would do something. Did she had some idea? Granted, he didn't know what else she was capable of, but it sounded like there were more to it than just turning back time, whatever she called that heal.

"Do I want to get back on the cliff, or the ground?" she asked, looking back at him again. She already knew what would happen if she were to be sent hurtling toward the ground from a great height. Her hairpins glimmered as she prepared to summon the three spirits that comprised her rejection shield. "I know I can't stand on my shield because of its rejection powers, but I think I could use it depending on which way I want to go."
no subject
The teacher looked uninterested, yet he didn't leave Orihime's attention, especially when he saw the glows manifested from her pins. "If you had to chose Inoue, what would be the best course of action in your case?" He was giving her the option, let her imagination flow. The teacher fell silent again and watched.

She had, after all, used her abilities to stop herself and Ishida from becoming pancakes, but she'd been hurt as a result. That was a risk she'd have to take if someone's life was on the line, of course.
"But if there wasn't an urgent need to go down, I'd want to get back into the fight. So if I dropped...I think the impact against my shield would repel me upward. Not by very much, but if I kicked it hard enough, it should be okay!"
That one, however, she'd never tried.
no subject
So he stood silently again, waiting for the result. Would she still be able to hang there longer? Or would she drop? Would her shield work in this case? Come on Orihime, show Aizawa Plus Ultra style.
no subject
Well...why not try something new? She already knew she could repel her fall to keep from splattering on the ground, so why not try something new? She was going to let go of the bar any second now.
Her brow furrowed as three pairs of petals zipped out of her hairpins, coming together to form a triangular shield of gold light several inches under her sneakers. Orihime pulled her knees upward then dropped, heels tight together, and thrust her feet into the shield.
As she'd theorized, there was a repelling force to reject the 'attack' and it shoved her back upward. She doubled over the bar, hitting it a little harder than she meant to and knocking the air out of her diaphragm, but...she was up!
"Ah ha ha, that was great! I'd probably fly even further with a bigger drop!"
no subject
Like she predicted, it repelled her fall and attack. Aizawa's head followed as she was over the bar and---then she fell on top of the bar with her abdomen keeping her balance. He couldn't help but stare blankly in shock, and maybe disturbed. He even felt his diaphragm ache for a moment.
"How about we take a break before we go to the next test," he suggested calmly. This girl.... sometimes she could scare him. Sometimes.

*bleeeehhhhhh*
--Okay, she did. Orihime sagged there for a moment and exhaled heavily. This was something she'd need to practice, because she didn't think throwing up on an enemy's shoes was going to give her any tactical advantages.
Wiping her mouth, she gripped the bar and eased herself off of it, dropping down to her feet.
"I can go get us some water if you like," she offered. Washing the taste out of her mouth might be nice. "What's the next challenge? I can mentally prepare for it!" How glad she was that she'd already done sit-ups!
no subject
"Go do that." Yes, please, and hopefully that small amount of time would help her recover what's left. "1000 meter run is next. Take your time coming back." Yes, really. Please.
no subject
When she came back, she was carrying a sack of water bottles. It was a hot day, and Aizawa was wearing all black with long sleeves and a scarf. He couldn't have been comfortable like that! He was getting some water too.
She ignored the hungry rumblings of her stomach, deciding to use that desire to complete her physical goals that much faster. She'd run like the wind if that meant going to an early lunch! After drinking a few swallows of water, Orihime was ready to go. The walk warmed up her legs too, she was ready to run!
no subject
He drowned himself with some water as well when Orihime returned. The rumble from her stomach didn't go unnoticed. He stared at her, as if judging. She could ignore it all she wanted, laugh it off, but he knew better. He was at the starting line ready.
"1000 meters. Ready? Go!"
Let's see what she planned to do with her powers this time.
no subject
If anything, it would slow her down with the extra jump at best; at worst, she'd go sprawling face first into the grass.
Still, she was a pretty good runner, swift with long legs despite her diminutive stature. When she reached the goal, she spun around and flashed a 'v for victory' sign with her fingers. "How's my time?" she called out, and came jogging back, only slightly out of breath.
