Alright, time for a round table discussion or some shit.

Over the last few weeks, things have been fairly calm around Attleton and I've been looking at ways to improve conditions both in Attleton and elsewhere, and I keep coming back to an idea I've had since the election just was busy to really put it out there.

I'm considering opening sanctioned and legal betting on fights that happen at the Attleton Colosseum. As a form of gambling, it'd obviously be regulated. Nobody under the age of 18 participating, for example, and I'd be keeping an eye on odds and payouts and making sure everything was fair and transparent. Likewise, I would be offering protection from the Guardian's office to any combatant that was approached or pressured into throwing a fight, and likewise prosecuting those who throw a fight for the purpose of rigging bets willingly.

I came to this idea because we've got a lot of people here with hair trigger tempers, super powers of some sort, just enjoy fighting, or a combination of the three, myself included. I figure if there's a legal way to get that sort of thing out of your system in a place where - should an accident or something happen - Genessia's normal death rules don't apply and people wake up fine a few minutes later, it would be best for everyone.

Last thing we need is a superpowered brawl in a busy intersection. However, before making anything official, I realize I'm the new kid on the block as far as Guardians go, so I figured I'd open the floor to anyone that may have a question or concern, and I'll do my best to answer things.

You may wanna have some rules in place about fighters tryin' to engage with folk in the sidelines. Last overpowered wanna-be fight, said wanna-be tried pickin' fights with me and two others who weren't there for it. Cuz how dare we be at a public venue.

Good point. Wouldn't do much good if people stopped coming to watch because of jerkwads. Might have to hit up Mavis and see if there's any way she or one of her friends could magic up a one-way sound barrier. Keep the fighters from hearing the crowd. Maybe that would help.

That sounds like a great idea, Dante-san! Though, I'm not sure if we should encourage making light of killing someone in any setting. Even if it is convenient that people wake right back up again.

Oh no, even if there aren't consequences for dying, I intend to impose heavy fines for intentionally killing someone. Accidents are going to happen, and part of the appeal for the place is being able to cut lose with powers and what not. But going in specifically to kill someone is absolutely going to be discouraged.

With you around, I wasn't planning on it. It's weird, when I take chances on my own, they tend to work out, but you show up and suddenly my luck evaporates.

Is the rule on underage people just for the gambling part? Or does that apply to the fights, too?

I've not actually decided on that. You'll absolutely need to be 18 to place bets, and I know there are people like you and your brother, as well as kids from another world that have ridiculous super powers that don't get to use them that much. At the same time I'm not sure how I feel about betting on kids beating the shit out of each other.

It's an interesting idea. On the one hand, the colosseum is useful. On the other, I've never cared for the 'spectators' being so bloodthirsty. Then again, I'm not usually a 'to the death' kind of person unless it's necessary anyways.

Are you planning to keep this a part of the Guardian's office in Attleton, or have it be a separate operation that just reports to the Guardian's office otherwise? I'm happy to help you hammer out some details, as well as have some concerns. Namely what's to protect the spectators? The whole structure is good at containing fights, but there's no barrier between the seats and the 'ring' so to speak.

I've actually gone back and forth on that matter. Ideally, it would be something the police could take care of and just report to me when they need some extra muscle, but I'm not really sure how feasible that is at the moment.

I can't go making special exceptions for merits claimed in your world. There's no actual proof here to back up your claim, even if I do believe you - which I do. I've just gotta be as impartial as possible. That said, I've not decided definitively whether I'm going to stick with that, considering a lot of the kids here have powers on par with my own.
