This is a message for the "South Attleton Safety Society."

Fuck off. Using powers for personal gain falls under assault and is already covered by the legal code. I'm not going to outlaw people being born a certain way. Hell, if I'm being brutally honest here, the demon license I implemented was aimed primarily at one person.

Also, any heckling of or otherwise interfering with people based on some stupid notion of 'normies vs power' is going to be classified as disturbing the peace, and my deputies will arrest and fine you.

Attleton doesn't need civilians playing soldier out of boredom. Go back to making stupid complaints to my office about garden gnomes and flamingos.

[Before cutting the feed Dante is going to angrily chuck a balled up newspaper off screen.]

[He does cock an eyebrow though. Not every day you see what appears to be a high school girl carrying that many swords.]

Well, Homura, as much as we may want to, I'd appreciate you not beating these people up. Ultimately, I feel like they're harmless for the most part. I'm more concerned about the people with powers taking this as a declaration of war or something.

Well it wouldn't hurt to keep tabs on them so those buttons ain't pushed. Fortunately, I'm in need of a job and this seems right up my alley.

[Dante ponders for a moment.]

With everything that's been going on, it probably wouldn't hurt to have a couple more hands on deck, and with me taking minimal salary, I've got the funds for it. Come by my shop, and I'll interview ya.

Being petty about some things is really the only way I can express my frustration without riling up the torch and pitchfork types.

[Instead of video, Homura just waltzes into the shop, the swords from before vanishing; had to make sure she could get in after all.]

[She froze, as if pressure was getting to her. In a way, yeah. She felt this energy before, albeit this one was...calmer? Still, there was something that alerted her, making those swords reappear. She draws them out in both hands.]

You didn't say this place had Yoma in it!

[Dante just looks up from his desk, arching an eyebrow.]

...The fuck's a Yoma?

Don't play dumb with me! They are no different from demons!

[And now those swords are on fire. She was not screwing around.]

If you think I'm easy just because the others ain't here, think again!

[Dante just hikes that eyebrow a bit further.]

...I'm half demon. I'm a devil hunter in my world. Can you not set my place on fire?

[For a minute she is confused. That shouldn't be possible. But her focus is set again as she remembered Dogen. Chances are he could have enhanced himself if allowed. Not to mention there was something else...]

Why the hell does it feel like this place is overrun with them?

[...and come to think of it, why weren't they attacking? Then again she knew nothing of the devil arms.]

[Dante still doesn't seem to be too terribly worried about the whole flaming swords thing. He just reaches into a desk drawer and pulls Artemis out, setting it on the desk.]

Might be because I keep the physical manifestations of souls of powerful demons I kill as weapons. ...and the odd demonic device I 'liberate' in the course of my hunts.

[Making weapons out of them? Homura switched from anger to pure confusion. She was only used to Dogen's idea. And why would a guy like this need so many of them!?

The fire on her swords suddenly vanishes, and she threw them up, rising as each one fell perfectly into its sheathe.]

I'm gonna need a lot more information to fully understand all of this crap.

[Care to tell her the story of Sparda and the two foolish sons?]

[Dante just motions to a chair, never taking his eyes off the girl. He's not quite sure what to make of her, though he has to admit she's got some good instincts.]

First, you're going to have to go into a bit more detail on just what the fuck Yoma is. You said it's 'no better' than demons, right? Unless you're rather convincing, I'm gonna have to say that sounds like someone who's never seen a demon face to face.

[She is hesitant to take the chair at first...but she needed answers and this was a pain in the ass already. She sits down, looking at Dante.]

Yoma are basically monsters from my world, a secret not supposed to be known. Some shinobi apparently fight each other since malice and blood draw them out. And some idiots wanted to use those bastards for their own gain.

The head of the school I went to, Hebijo, was one of them. After we lost to a rival school, he let us be absorbed into a ritual to summon Orochi. I didn't realize till it was too late, and got absorbed.

[As she talks more, there is strain on her face, recalling the atmosphere.]

Being in there felt like what I am feeling now, but more hostile, like a thousand eyes were on me. It tried to corrupt my team, so I used all of my strength to help kill Orochi from the inside and save my comrades.

[Dante leans back in his chair, listening very intently. Obviously she's seen some shit. After her story ends, he nods.]

That does sound like demons I'm used to. The only real difference seems to be that demons are biologically compatible with humans.

[He jerks a thumb behind him to the large framed fleshy sword on the wall that was probably giving off most of the energy she was sensing.]

That's my father's soul... or what's left of it. He was a demon in the service of a self-proclaimed demon god who was looking to invade the human world. But, at some point in the invasion plans said demon god was betrayed by his strongest general; the Legendary Dark Knight Sparda. Sparda fought and killed most of the demon god's army while humans worked to set up a seal on the portal connecting the worlds. The betrayal left most of Sparda's power trapped in the space between the two worlds, but Sparda on the human end, and was hailed as a savior.

Fast forward 2000 years or so and Sparda had settled down, taken a human wife, had a pair of twin sons - me and my brother - and then just... vanished. Even with the portal that would've allowed an army to walk through into our world, there were loopholes that let demons through in small numbers, and some of the demon god's men got through and started looking for Sparda. When they couldn't find him, they settled on the next best thing: his family.

Demons ripped my mother apart and I was powerless to do anything about it, as was my brother at the time, and that... changed us. I won't get into the details of how my brother handled it just now, that's a story in its own right, but I dedicated myself to hunting demons, using the power I inherited from Sparda to kick their asses back into the abyss whenever they showed their ugly heads.

The majority of what you're sensing would probably be coming from my weapons; the physical manifestations of souls of powerful demons I've killed.

That's...definitely a story.

[She is surprised by everything. There were a ton of questions she did want to ask. But she doubted he had answers to some of them; there was that 2000 year gap after all. Still, family troubles. She understood that. Circumstances and events were different obviously. Homura's treated her like she was dead and they were still alive.

She glances around, eyeing all the weapons.]

Are they safe to keep around like this? I heard about cursed weapons and assume they kinda work the same way...

In this form, they have no will of their own. At most the only thing they really feel is basic instincts. They're only really dangerous if humans try to get a hold of them, and even then they can be taught to resist their effects, not that I'm too keen on doing the teaching.

Besides, if anyone gets too close to 'em, I've got alchemical barriers that'll knock 'em on their ass. Besides, the ones I've got out here are for display only.

[He gestures at Sparda.] He's the only true Devil Arm out here right now. ...Well and Artemis.

I see...[Didn't make it easier to bear the pressure she felt. But at least he thought some things through. Luckily she had no need for such weapons; the 7th sword was enough for a last resort.]

So...sorry about nearly cutting and burning this place down.

You wouldn't have been the first, and you wouldn't have gotten too far. Still, the fact you didn't is a good sign.

[He leans back in his chair, slipping Artemis back into the drawer, visibly relaxing.]

Paperwork's been driving me nuts so I apologize my mind has been a little all over the place. Still, you've demonstrated some unique abilities, and seem to have quite the history with some demon bullshit so that's good.
