✞ first bite; the dhampir awakes ( action )
genessia city
[ Waking within a coffin isn't anything new to him. One might even say that to eventually one day wake to an entirely different world would not be so far a stretch for him to experience. However, to be taken so abruptly from his comrades and mission to put an end to his father's madness, that is new and potentially frustrating, let alone confusing. Add to that the fact that the coffin itself had been surrounded by water (a nightmare in itself) and, well, it had been a rather trying moment for him to get himself out of that situation, but he had, with minor injury involved. Thankfully.
The dynamics of this world are different and foreign to him, the device he has been given almost magical with the way it functions. However, as always with keeping himself calm and composed no matter the situation, it's only after he has come to learn that it is only him and that neither Trevor nor Sypha have accompanied him here, that he makes his way throughout the city.
It is both during day and twilight that he will be found around the city, wishing to learn as much as he can about his new surroundings and what this might mean for him given his mission has now been placed on hold. Pan's Grocery is one place he ends up and it's clear with the look on his face that he hasn't any idea what much of this stuff that lines the shelves are. The Library is another place he finds himself, having an affinity for the older books that are shelved and always one for obtaining more knowledge. He's already grabbed a few books that have caught his interest, having them neatly stacked beside him to the point where they reach just a touch higher than his own height. Careful not to knock them over? The Garden Park is where he can also be found (though not near the pond), keeping to himself mostly on a bench under a colouring tree, trying to figure out how to properly work this device he's been given. So long as you have no qualms about the sword which he keeps by his side or how unnaturally pale he looks, he will not shun anyone who comes near. He might even appreciate some help with this device. ]
everglade
[ It's no surprise that he would end up within this city, is it? Come dusk or midnight itself, he will be found wandering the foggy streets of the city, not at all looking perturbed by its so-called reputation it seems to have. Although, should one seek to challenge him for whatever reason that may be, it will be with a hand on the hilt of his blade at his side that he offers an "I wouldn't" as means of a warning. Otherwise, The Rabbit's Foot is one place which has piqued his interest given the so-called essentials for one living within this city it claims to have; it's a place which he will be found looking around, if even for idle curiosity. As with the library in Genessia City, Periodicals and Paperbacks is a place he can be found within, the tips of fingers gently caressing over the spine of each and every book that catches his eye, perhaps even intending to purchase a few that he holds within an arm. He will be around the Cloak and Dagger but doesn't enter the shop for whatever reason. Otherwise, it's Mystic's Alley where you might find him making his way through. ]

However, when the presence closes in, enveloped in a blanket of white it would seem, he stares with those golden eyes of his, noting the horse and its lack of a head. Again, rather fitting almost for Everglade it would appear.
A hand to his hip, opposite of the side he keeps his sword, he stands there, gaze fixed on this stranger with the familiar yet strange presence wrapped around him. ]

The figure in the saddle is a little shorter than Alucard, with short, shaggy white hair (currently windblown, as he isn't wearing a helmet), a white long coat of a style similar to but more modern than Alucard's own, boot-cut jeans, and a black turtleneck shirt. He isn't wearing a sword, but that means nothing, not with that naggingly familiar aura of power hanging around him. Still, he approaches with his hands held open at his sides, an obvious preference for peace over violence.]
Well, this is awkward. Hello, Adrian. You... probably don't know me, with the way this place works. My name is Soma, and you've been lurking outside my shop long enough for me to get here from across town, which means you probably have some questions.
no subject
The "mechanical horse" is also that of familiarity to him and he stares to it, reminded of cogs and wheels back home within the castle. A reminder of home and one who knows his name...
He notes the way in which arms are opened (and a sword is not present), a gentle sign of no harm intended and yet he still remains wary of this man and his words; there is something about him and his presence that is strange despite its familiarity to him.
When the name of Soma is given, he tilts his head up some, looking the man over a little more. It is a name he does not recall. ]
No, I do not and yet somehow you know of my name.
no subject
[He folds his arms, returning that same looking-over.] I can make some reasonable guesses, as well. You're wondering why you feel you should know me, even though we've never met before. Am I right?
no subject
Time itself is indefinite, a vampire knows that better than anyone else. But to add timelines into the mix, pulling people from the past, present, and even future into this world... it's strange and not anything that he has personally dealt with before. To hear that Soma is from his future... several hundred years in the future... he stands there, unsure of what to truly make of that and can only listen as he continues to explain. ]
There is familiarity with you that I cannot pinpoint so clearly.
no subject
[He draws a deep breath, not really sure how to make this next statement with any amount of tact at all. So... blunt it is.]
Your father was finally destroyed in the year 1999. His soul, fragmented, chose a number of hosts with the potential to harness his power and continue his work. I'm one of them - the last of them, to be precise. I possess all of his powers... and his memories. But I do not carry his grudge, nor his... identity, I suppose? His personality. I was born Soma Cruz, and God willing, I will remain such until the day I die... which, unfortunately, will be quite a long time from now, since I also inherited his curse.
no subject
You claim to have inherited his curse yet lack the motivation to carry out what he is currently trying to do.
[ Carefully, there is a gentle tilt of his head. ]
How am I to be certain of this?
[ For he is well aware of how strong his father is with not only magic, but his sheer will and determination. ]
no subject
[There's a very real note of annoyance at that last part. The castle is being a bit of a brat, really.]
Oh. On that same note... the person you know as your father has also been here. He's... this is going to sound really odd, but he's adopted several vampires that have ended up here. And... your mother also appeared, briefly. [He briefly looks away. You want to talk mixed emotions, Lisa Tepes gives him those in spades.]
no subject
Although the mention of having adopted other vampires, that his father has apparently been here though is now missing and has been for quite some time... if ever there were emotional whiplash for him, this might truly be it. ]
What do you mean by adopted? As part of his army?
[ You have to understand, Soma, the point in time which he has been pulled from... he and his father are not on good terms and he has only just left to stop him and his army of darkness. ]
no subject
Oddly, no. Family. Congratulations. You have three sisters now. And a brother, though he's something of a black sheep. Poor bastard runs a magic shop. Which, incidentally, mostly stocks stuff made to hunt vampires and other creatures of the night.
no subject
So, rather than dwell on that, he looks to Soma more curiously. ]
You say my father has gone missing... do you have an idea of where he might have gone to?
no subject
[He gestures at the shop, now.] Want to step inside for a bit? This mist makes it rather colder out here than I like, and if you do feel the need to put that sword to use, you'll have a better chance of success with all the demon hunting gear I have in stock.
no subject
Looking to the shop, he blinks slowly before his attention falls back onto Soma. ]
Tell me.
[ He begins with that as he moves to step closer to the shop. ]
What is it that is done for those who are children of the night?
[ How do the vampires feed within this world? ]
no subject
There is a blood bank here in Everglade, as well as a restaurant that serves more... substantial needs. The restaurant serves synthetic meat, but the blood bank is very real, and entirely voluntary. There is also a law that allows hunting after dark, though most of us prefer the blood bank - it's safer for everyone involved, and prevents the creation of blood thralls.
no subject
[ Though does his father? Probably not, knowing him. However, he nods and steps for the shop. ]
You live within the castle then?
no subject
[Soma opens the door for him, and true to his word, the place is full of demon hunting gear. Everything from potions to holy water.]
no subject
How long is it that you have been within this world?
[ Because it seems as though room and board is something he will need to find for himself, lest he simply keep to the shadows. ]
no subject
[Even if he feels like he really, really needs to have a serious talk with a few of them.]
no subject
Perhaps it is simply not their time yet.
[ To arrive within this world. Though, to be fair, who knows how this place works with choosing who comes and goes and when. ]
no subject
[He takes his place behind the counter, and then pulls an old, dust-covered bottle from underneath, plus a pair of glasses. He gestures then to a bar stool; clearly this isn't the first time he's ever served someone a drink here.]
no subject
My father...
[ It's of little surprise that he would think to ask of him, given how he has been on his mind prior to his arriving here within this world. ]
...does he still wish to destroy humanity even while here?
no subject
Before Lisa came... he was mostly just interested in toying with them. But when she arrived... she had been pulled from the depths of the fire. He refused for a long time to even acknowledge that it could be her - very nearly went to war with this world because he was certain someone had created a clever homunculus and given it her face. When he finally accepted it... for a time, he was nearly content. You were here, then, as well - briefly, he had the whole of his family.
Until she was taken away again, and you followed soon after. I have been doing what I can to contain him, with the help of his adopted daughters. But even wielding the same power he holds, I am but one man, and the others... they are reluctant to fight him.
no subject
I tried to reason with him, to offer justice against the bishop who had placed that claim on my mother.
[ He still recalls that day and the rage that filled not only his father's voice, but his eyes as well as he lashed out against his blood, wounding him to the point of needing a rest so long. ]
I still hope that he can be reasoned with... but I am not so sure it is possible.
no subject
[Another sigh.] Which is, I suppose, another way I can prove who I am, since I can also get in there. I don't relish the idea of doing it again, but if it would give you and the others another chance at convincing him to set aside his grudge, at least while he's here... I would do it.
no subject
And what would happen to you?
