[Video] Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes~ Turn and Face the Strange
[Namur's face on the screen is pale grey, his eyes a deep red, and he has a few extra teeth hanging out of his mouth from the top lip.]
Hey, listen up y'all. Know 's weird turnin' int' somethin' y' usually ain't. This shit ain't usually my look, either. But yer gonna be okay. All a y'. Yer still the same person on the inside, aye? An' y' ain't got no reason t' be 'shamed a what the world saw fit t' change y' int' for a time. This ain't some shitty crisis, 's an opportunity t' experience the world in a new way, catch me?
That said, some a y'all might find yerselves targeted cuz now yer differnt. Ain't gonna name names or nothin', but some folk 'parently feels like they's got every right t' be yer judge an' they don't give a shit 'bout yer situation or how y' got t' where y's at, so be careful out there, aye?
An' maybe there's some a y' out there that's used t' bein' differnt, an' now yer stripped a the physical shit that gave y' an edge an' helped y' survive. 'S gonna be okay. Don't let fear keep y' from makin' the most a yer days.
Anybody thinks they need some backup, I'mma add my name out there as one t' call. Do that kinda shit every day, so really it oughta be obvious me an' my boys'd be willin' t' help.

[He hadn't heard of this happening in the first place, but he's pretty damn serious about it regardless. Discrimination is one easy way to get on Gale's shit list.]
Has this happened a lot from what you've seen?
no subject
[Namur rolls his eyes.]
Happens all the time, man. For the most part those a us that's actually livin' the non-human life, we expect it. Ain't right, but whatever. Folks is gonna have their prejudices no matter who they is an' that's a fact a life. But it can be a real dangerous wake up call t' someone that ain't lived that way if they ain't ready for it. Werewolves know how t' keep an eye out for signs that someone's a wolf hunter, but a human that's only been a werewolf for a day an' a half's ain't necessarily gonna know them things 'til they got their chest full a silver bullets, catch me? That kinda hunter don't give a shit if y' tell 'em naw I'm usually human, this's jus' a weird thing that happened. That kinda hunter ain't lookin' for food or survival. They jus' wanna kill for killin's sake, know what I'm sayin'?

I do understand that, yes. I conduct a business in Everglade so I'm well aware of the trials that both humans and non-humans go through there. You hear a lot of stories when you're a bartender.
My biggest concern is makin' sure there isn't a sudden influx of this behavior because of the transformations. Nova's already got anti-discrimination laws in place so while I'm not too worried about it happenin' there, it helps to be further aware when conductin' business outside. Especially when I try to keep Holy Diver a safe haven to begin with.
It just helps to keep up to date on all this shit, y'know?
no subject
[Namur raises his hands and shrugs, body language for come on.]
Folks is gonna do what folks is gonna do. With any luck, shit like this's gonna 'ventually mean we got less chuckleshits t' worry 'bout at any time, cuz hey, now they know what 's like, an' maybe folk ain't so bad as they think, jus' for bein' what they is. Kill the hate, then y' don't need the shitty laws. Them things always seems t' get turned 'round on folk like me anyway.
But listen. Ever get trouble goin' down at yer place an' y' want backup, check an' see if me or any a my boys is there. Holy Diver's a common stopoff in the Night Tours so we got an interest in helpin' with that whole safe haven idea, catch me?
video;
[Rapunzel still is a little worried, but it's mostly because what she had become was something that had attacked her some months ago, so just seeing herself was enough to cause her to not like herself currently.]
I... assume you mean to get an understanding of what you've become and learn something new.
video;
Like right now, I'm learnin' a bit more what it's like for my girlfriend t' be 'round folk, doin' the normal everday shit y' gotta do, aye? 'S weird in ways I never even thought 'bout, an' some a the shit I thought was jus' kinda her bein' quirky now makes a hell of a lot more sense, y' know?
So what'd y' get this year?
video;
[She has bad memories of a bounty gone wrong.]
It just worries me that I might hurt someone.
video;
[The blush on his cheeks and the wink he gives ought to be enough clue what he's talking about. If she doesn't get it, well...
Moving on.]
But I mean, yer still y' under that fur, aye? If y' weren't inclined t' hurt folks 'fore, why the hell wouldja be now? Jus' gettin' hungry or what?
video;
[Was it a joke or something, she just looked puzzled for the moment.]
Um, well...I once had werewolves attack me after I tried capturing them for a bounty. So I guess I was worried I could become like them in that way too... It... sounds silly, but they suddenly attacked without warning.
video;
video;
But what you seem to be saying and I could be wrong is 'They are the victims to because you were dumb enough to mess it up in the first place so suck it up.'
video;
What I'm sayin' is y' can't hold it 'gainst somebody for comin' after y' when yer the one that's comin' after them in the first place. Y' started shit, they finished it, an' now yer horrified cuz y' woke up one mornin' lookin' like them. Sayin' don't be horrified. Sayin' werewolves, like humans an' everbody else, has reasons. Sayin' y' oughta trust yerself t' not turn int' a murderin' psychopath jus' cuz y' grew some more hair. Sayin' y' oughta get out there an' learn the good shit werewolves has t' offer.
Hell I'll bet y'll get a shitload a offers t' join a pack, folks that's willin' t' stick up for y' an' fight for yer wellbein', jus' cuz y' looked like y' was lonely. Might even make a friend who's gonna be chill with y' even after y' go back t' bein' a human. That sound like an awful thing t' happen?
video;
But as for my holding it against them. Considering they actually nearly killed me I think I still have some right to hold it against them. More so when I was never going to hurt them in the first place. I get they don't want to pay for their crimes because some people don't like the consequences, but it was an overreaction on their part to.
But I guess I can take this as some learning experience even if I am extremely uncomfortable with it without knowing the answer to the questions I just asked.
video;
So good luck, sweetheart! Hope y' find a nice pack t' run with for the rest a yer week! 'Member t' have an open heart an' a open mind, an' y'll do fine!
Team Meeting
Namur gives everyone several minutes to eat and socialize, then has everybody sit around the pushed together desks. He stands in front, arms folded as he looks over his crew and grins. Damn, what a bunch. Shit's gonna get deep but they'll come through.]
A'ight, so this's overdue, but I think we oughta come t'gether an' talk 'bout differnt folk that's liable t' give all a us a bad day. We're here offerin' t' protect folks in this city, an' 's gettin' real clear that every once in awhile, we're gonna need a concentrated effort an' a plan for how t' deal with certain folk goin' haywire. Vlad's li'l ghoul party got me thinkin' on it, an' now I'm bein' told there's been a wave a vampire hunter gatewalkers that's liable t' cause a ruckus. Pretty sure there's some a y' that knows a other folks, too.
So listen. We's stronger t'gether. Each an' every one a us's good as an army on our own. But y' know what's better'n an army? An army a armies!
[Damn that's right, he's so clever.]
Best case scenario, we ain't gotta ever use any a this information. Worst case scenario, it ain't 'nuff t' save our clients or ourselves.
Everbody with me so far?
no subject
His contribution to the potluck is a cake and a large tin of cookies from the grocery store. He's got a can of juice to sip from.]
I could cast a magic barrier around us and our clients and we could wait things out somewhere until sunrise in the worst case scenario. Whatever changed people skipped me.
no subject
Regardless, she's settled in her seat somewhere near Namur enjoying some cookies while she's listening to the conversation.]
Zhat could be helpful. For zhe most part, I can only contribute at I know about zhe current vampires und vampire hunters vithin zhe city. Of zhem, zhere are only two zhat really need to be vatched.
Integra Hellsing, vho is from my vorld... und Trevor Belmont, from Dracula's vorld vho has a vhip zhat is known as zhe Vampire Killer. Take a guess at vat it does.
[The name says it all really.]
no subject
A'ight, we'll talk 'bout each a these things later. Anybody else we gotta add t' these lists?
no subject
[As Seventeen watched Rip go all out on the sweets. He didn't bother to ask what happened to her or if vampires suddenly have the sugar rush urges, but he could put two and two together. As for Seventeen, his contribute were some soft drinks, wine, and hard liquors for ones who can handle the booze. Seventeen rarely eats anyway. He survives mostly on drinking liquid to keep his body stabled. He was still half human and more bio-android if anything.
Seventeen was thankful he missed that wind of a curse. He was already dealing with his lost of unlimited stamina and learning how to control what he has. For now, he laid back against a wall somewhere listening to the crowd.]
Thankfully everyone from my world aren't much of a threat, maybe except one, Cell, but only if you have a death wish to challenge him.
Like the kid, I can make barriers to trap either our clients or any creature that can't control themselves until they calm down, or needs to be knocked out for a bit.
[To be honest, trouble only seemed to find him, if he's that fortunate. Seventeen flicked his golden loop earring.]
So Rip, who exactly is Integra?
no subject
But, his question did sober her up a little as she finished the cookie she had been eating before responding.]
Sir Integra Fairbrook Wingates Hellsing. The granddaughter of Abraham van Hellsing, the vampire hunter from my world. She was the head of the Hellsing Organization which my battalion fought against. Under her control was the No Life King, Alucard. He is.... my worlds version of Dracula.
[ Rip started to look a little uneasy]
Alucard is the one to originally kill me in my world. In another, she killed me in a similar way... and in yet another she bound me to her as her servant with occult alchemy. She’s ruthless, duty bound and a bitch that will not hesitate to kill or enslave to ‘save lives’ if she feels it’s necessary. Her family specializes in killing monsters, especially vampires.
no subject
[Namur's expression grows darker the longer they dwell on Integra.]
An' sayin' she made Rip her servant's sellin' it short. From what I 'member, was full on soul slavery. Weren't no way out, an' she physically couldn't disobey, even if it woulda been the right thing t' do. That kinda whaleshit ain't acceptable, I don't give a shit where yer from!
[He slams his fist down on one of the desks, splintering it along the edge, and it's enough to bring him back to the present. He straightens up and turns to write "sel" on the board.]
'Nother'n we gotta watch for's Vlad. Sorry babe. Outta everbody he's the only one's actually caused problems so far.
[That one he manages to spell right.]
An' Dante.
["dontay"]
[He grits his teeth for this last one, an edge of regret in his voice, for those with ears keen enough to hear it.]
An' Ted.
[He finishes scribbling the names, then turns.]
Any others we know 'bout that's liable t' cause us problems here in Everglade?
no subject
Huh, seems like we have more things in common than I thought.
[He comments to Rip having his fair share of the past, while keeping an eye contact on fish vampire.]
Except mines was a mad scientist who needed fresh subjects to add to the series. I didn't had much of a choice back then.
[Seventeen grips on his crossed arms thinking about it.]
Like the boss said, it doesn't matter.
[He stays quiet again listening to Namur, until a couple names catches his ears, even Dante's. Seventeen had fought with him before, for fun.]
no subject
Essentially, yes. It vas soul slavery und I vas only ever given one order. Do not kill. If she had seen zhe need to give ozhers, I vould haf to follow zhem of suffer for my disobedience.
[She glanced up to Seventeen and nodded a little. Then it seems that she wasn't the only one that suffered through something like that. Even if at the time she didn't realize just how serious it was, she did now.
As for the other names though, she could understand why they were on the lists and a few of them, she had words on.]
Az much of a threat Vlad is, he iz more interested in keeping our family safe currently. Hiz demon parade vas nothing more zhan a show of force for his return.
[She rolled her eyes slightly. Honestly, her father was a bit dramatic.]
His focus is primarily on Trevor Belmont. As for handling my fazher, if he goes off zhe rails again, we get Soma. He may not look it, but hiz power is equal vith Vlads. Und if Soma looses it, I can handle him.
[Rip just wasn't going to mention how she was supposed to do that.]
Fazher has also tasked me vith keeping my sisters safe if zomeone is dumb enough to attack zhe castle.
[She pauses for a moment then snorts faintly.]
Und Hellsing is a detective vith zhe Everglade police, not a Deputy. However, my sister Remilia IS a Deputy Guardian so at least zhere is one vampire in some sort of power.
no subject
I could probably break a spell like that with my magic. I can't really do anything about non-magical ways of taking control of someone, but if it involved souls...then I'd probably be able to do it.
[His dominion over death isn't quite as absolute as it was in his home world, but he's confident enough in his ability to break a spell cast by a human. Especially one dealing with souls.]
no subject
Woah. When did Koishi get there? Trick question. She's probably been there the whole time. Mooching off of everyone's food.
"I'm okay with magic but I'm best with my abilities. I can make people feel things. Nice things and calming things. That way people don't fight. And if they do fight I'm really good at breaking it up." Less of a direct suggestion and more of a reminder, really. But it was true all the same.
She drifted over and perched herself on Namur's shoulder, crumbs falling from the cookie she was munching on. At least she was trying to be helpful and not just a pest.
no subject
"I'm surprised to hear about Ted; he seemed nice enough when we talked. Still, I can't put up barriers or anything like that, but I'll help however I can. I figure Fishman Karate should work on most people."
As he talks, Jinbei piles up food on his plate; no sense in letting it go to waste! "As for this Integra woman, if she tries anything like that here, I'll make sure she never even considers it again. That kind of power should not be used." The World Nobles are bad enough in terms of enslaving people, but making it impossible to escape or disobey was an even worse situation.
no subject
As for Koishi, she was.. curious. "Do you zhink zhat vould vork on Vlad? It could actually prevent a lot of trouble if he got riled up again." Which even she had to admit was eventually. What was with the vampire part of her family being so dramatic?
Though, she did smile towards Jinbei at his offer. "I'm sure zhat you vould haf your vork cut out for you vith zhat voman. She's stubborn, but, I appreciate zhe offer~. How noble of you."
no subject
Ted's the nicest asshole y'll ever meet. Ain't gonna find a person more generous an' helpful, an' I love that damn fool like a brother. He's got a good heart, but he's schoolie as all hell, an' he's got pretty much every citizen a Everglade pegged as evil jus' for existin'. When I first met 'im he wanted t' save everbody if he could, but he's... changin' lately. Gettin' less intrested in the folks he used t' care 'bout an' gettin' more caught up in the crazy logic he reads in oldass books, an' I seen 'nuff unhinged robot movies by now t' know there's a certain kind a logic that says if y' wanna save folk, yer best off killin' 'em 'fore they get 'round t' killin' theirselves. I'unno that he'll ever get t' that point. Wanna believe he won't. But it ain't gonna hurt nothin' if we got an idea what t' do with 'im if he does.
So. Anybody here other'n me sparred with 'im or trained with 'im or anythin'? Know for a fact he's always holdin' out on me so I ain't got a clue what he's really capable a pullin' outta his ass.
no subject
Hearing about how Ted really was helped her piece together why he acted so odd around her and Satou, though she figured it was because of their genders if anything considering how he acted towards Arro.
Azure nibbled pensively on a tortilla chip she had brought with spinach and artichoke dip, she brought enough to feed a small army.
no subject
She tilted her head, finishing her cookie and leaving more crumbs on Namur's shoulder and shirt. Focusing on the table, several tentacles slid from her sleeve to gently gather up more snacks.
"That's not his strongest weapon though. He has one of Miss Satsuki's Goku Uniforms. It's not as strong as my Noushuketsu... But it is very strong. He held his own when I went crazy. He also likes me and trusts me. If bad things happen with Mister Spades I can stop him."
no subject
He crosses his arms when he hears about Ted. "I don't have the experience with Ted that the rest of you seem to, so I suppose that I'll keep that in mind. He sounds zealous, and those types can be a pain if worst comes to worst. Still, hopefully things won't get that bad."
no subject
He's silent on the matter, except to chime in with "I haven't met Ted. I've seen him on the network, but I've never talked to him."
no subject
[Namur swipes the side of his face against Koishi's leg, knocking crumbs off his face.]
Anyway, sounds like yer the winner here. What y' know 'bout them uniforms? How's it work? An' even better, how's it get made t' not work?
no subject
[Seventeen compliments on the demon girl, with a small grin. If he's close enough, he will even pet her head. While Seventeen is listening to the conversation, he can't help but notice how dangerous some of these kids are. First there is Koishi, there's no doubt in her words, Seventeen experienced himself. Now there is Phibrizzo who can possibly break magical spells? Seventeen is mostly observing in the most part.
Fishman Karate, he needs to tackle Jinbei about it later, but it gives Seventeen an idea what he's capable of.
When Namur brought up more about Ted, that gets more of Seventeen's attention. He looks back to Koishi after she mentions her encounter.]
Just to make sure, can Ted's power destroy a planet if he wanted to?
[A beat before he continues.]
Before anyone questions it, let's just say I've dealt with my share of fighters and threats with that much power. I can back up Koishi if Ted becomes an issue.
no subject
[He's never tried it, and it occurs to him that it might make for an interesting experiment. But right now he's just tossing out suggestions that might be effective for dealing with someone who might make things annoying for them without killing the person.]
no subject
Sure, Whitebeard could theoretically destroy the planet with his Devil Fruit (and now Blackbeard could, which was a terrifying thought), but for obvious reasons, that sort of theory couldn't be tested out. Jinbei's a bit nervous about the idea of a place where the ability to destroy a planet sounds commonplace.
no subject
[Sorry, Jimbei. It's commonplace. Deal with it.]
Anyway, whatcha got for us, Squidlet? Or y' don't feel comfortable spillin' yer guts 'bout it?
no subject
Vait, vat exactly can Ted do? All I've zeen is a religious fanatic like zome of zhe ones from my vorld.
no subject
She chewed and swallowed, looking a little thoughtful before- "Ow!" Well, one of the other crabs was pinching her finger now.
"Mister Spades power is interesting. He makes things vanish. But it's not magic. It's a goku uniform. It's like he eats things but not really. I really only know what Noushuketsu does in detail. I could show you too. I'll ask about Mister Spade's the next time I talk to Miss Satsuki." She managed to free her finger from the crab, tossing it back into the bowl.
She brushed the crumbs from the white blazer she was wearing. "I just know his power is dark and cold and grabs and twists. It's an unusual dark. Like swirls of black in ice. And viscus when melted."
Talking in riddles won't help the situation, Koishi.
no subject
[Namur has a few experiences of his own with the uniform, from when he and Ted had swapped bodies. He remembers the Threads being pervasive, and invasive, embedding themselves in his skin...]
... Without killin' the damn smolt hisself?
no subject
Inappropriate, but that's about summarize it. I can tell you about my world another day with a drink or something. That's just the tip of the iceberg.
[Meanwhile 17 drinks some beer. He's been just drinking, not touching one food. Androids don't eat, but they sure can drink. He listens carefully about Ted keeping a mind fold.
After Koishi frees herself from the crab, he pulls a small band-aid from his pocket, a doodle kid version, and gently wraps it around Koishi's pinched finger. He knows she isn't bleeding or anything, but kids like this sort of thing, even if they aren't hurt that bad. Koishi's still a kid in his eyes. One shiny doodled band-aid for the little monster.]
no subject
"I dunno. I could ask him if you wanted me to. I dunno if you would have to. But if we did, We could probably take it when he's not transformed and talk to him while its off. He's good at talking but not very good at listening. But it might still work."
Koishi accepts the band-aid, brightening significantly. She didn't seem all that hurt by the crab but she certainly appreciated the gesture.
no subject
[That was a lot less of a plan than he'd hoped for, but without any idea of how to divest him of the uniform, they'd just have to wing it. He puts a checkmark by Ted's name.]
Next up's Dante. Luckily right now he's got his hands mostly full bein' Guardian a Attleton, but that ain't gonna last forever. What do we know 'bout him an' his abilities? Anythin'?
[Off to the side of Dante's name, Namur writes deemun huntr.]
no subject
When nobody pipes up promptly enough to Namur's question about Attleton's Guardian, however, she sighs and steps up, taking a lazy pull from one of the longnecks she'd brought as she does so. The more observant among the group might notice a subtle change to her coloring, not to mention the addition of some delicate gills tucked back behind her ears and down along the sides of her neck, but she's obviously not interested in drawing attention to those for now; there's work to be done.
Taking a spare marker in hand, the blonde leans in to correct Namur's mangling of Dante's name and description in tight, military-precise handwriting before giving him a look that's equal parts reproach and amusement.]
Looks to me like we don't really know anything about the man-- So that's where we ought to start. Basic reconnaissance to begin with, progressing to infiltration if needed. He's a public figure, so gossip shouldn't be hard to come by. That's as good a place to start as any.
[She makes it sound easy-- Almost dull. Just another workday, really. Turning to face the rest of the group while she speaks, she raises a brow.]
So... Any volunteers?
no subject
So, information on him was definitely being paid attention to.
As for Dante though? Rip contemplates what to say when she notices Rowan come in and set down her contribution. Rip.. might be sidling up to the table to sang one of those burgers. While she's human, she's definitely enjoying the food and taking in Rowan's new appearance before speaking up.]
I vouldn't say ve don't know anyzhing...vat I know about Dante iz zhis. He's half demon, a demon hunter und strong enough to destroy one of Augustine's demons vhich.. is not an easy task. Zhose things creep me out on a good day.
Beyond zhat, he likes to drink und has told me zhat if I get out of control, he vill kill me.
[She snorted faintly. Rip hasn't really lost control of herself in roughly a year. Though, it's amazing what she can get people to talk about in conversation. She's surprisingly good at getting information she wants...]
Zo, I'd throw in a strong sense of protecting humans from 'threats'.
no subject
The guy talked about himself during the debates months back, more of a laid back kind of guy, until he gets a mood swing. I've fought with him once when he needed to get some steam out, and he had a weapon too.
And Rip already summarized the rest. He has a strong sense of morality.
