[A long-haired man in a long white coat appears on screen, looking confused and somewhat in shock. He's carrying the usual new arrival gear from the docks, but he seems a little dazed and disoriented. His collar hangs open, exposed a long gash mark along his neck, but he doesn't seem to be paying it any mind. Instead, he's glancing around Genessia City with an overwhelmed and stunned expression.

Everything seems so very different than from 1896...]

...I don't quite know if I'm using this correctly. If I'm to be honest, I don't think I've ever seen a device quite like this before. But if someone could explain to me where I am a little bit, I think that would be helpful.

[He shuts his eyes for a second, as if trying to shake a fog from his thoughts. Eventually he shakes his head and looks back at the screen, continuing.]

The last thing I remember is -- dying. The last thing I recall is dying. And now I'm in this place and it's all very...well, it's not quite what I think I imagined the afterlife to be.

[Winry was currently sitting outside the apartment complex that she lives at. She knew she had to kneel over just to get inside, but she was trying to think of other ways around it. But it wasn't long before her mind was focused on other things instead.]

Though you died? I admit this isn't exactly an afterlife because not everyone who arrives is in that type of situation, but think of it as a second chance at life.

This isn't the afterlife. If it was, I'd be disappointed.

You won't ever understand that. And if you do, you'd be the first of us to figure it out.

Huh? What? No. Most of us have never died. But there's a fair few here that have.

So a mix of living and dead.

I suppose no one knows why that is, either.

This place is just one big mystery...

And what exactly is it that people do here? Just... I don't know, live day to day like a normal city, like this is all just mundane circumstance?

Exactly. People get jobs. They work hard, play hard, find friends, fall in love. So it goes.

So it's like a second Earth, then, just...populated with people from elsewhere, then.

Pretty much exactly that. That isn't so bad, hmm? Especially not if you were dead in any case.

Perhaps. [He's not entirely sure how he feels about it yet. It'll be easier once he stops feels so disoriented.]

Then what is the point? To just...have people live their lives, but in a separate place? What purpose would that possibly serve?

More quesions with no answers. Some think it's God, or gods, playing around. Some think some scientific or social experiment. Some don't seem to have thought or cared about it at all.

Well, when I first came here I thought I had. Turns out everything turned out okay in the end.

[I mean when your soul is used as a stone, yeah one would think they died.]

But as I said not everyone here has died. But there are some who have gone through such experiences, it's just a case of finding them.

I don't think that'll be the case for me. There was quite a lot of carnage at the time.

[He shakes his head a little, focusing himself.]

If that's the case, what are we all doing here, then? Why be brought here?

That is...unsettling to think about.

[Though, he supposes, more freeing than what he'd had while alive. His father isn't here, is he? He'd have said something by now if he was.]

How long are we kept here, then? Until death comes, or comes again as the case may be?

Death? No. You die here and you just find yourself back here all over again. Though no one's been here long enough to die of old age or anything, so I'm not sure how that would work...

So people can just keep coming back, endlessly, no matter how many times they die or are killed here?

[He's really not sure how he feels about that.]

That's right. But when you do come back, you lose something - a memory, an ability, something like that. Not permanently though, I don't think...

That seems...worrisome. Even death isn't an escape from anything that might be inflicted here.

It is worrisome and a bit crazy. You can visit the Dream Docks if you're home sick - it connects you to your home world. So I understand.
