completely fail unanon

[this is much harder to write than it has any reason to be and there is no part of Imelda that actually wants to write it. But needs must and she must because there is too much on the table and, at any rate, at least she can distance herself somewhat from the question.

So she has to word it very carefully]

I know of someone who has a temper and a sort fuse when it comes to certain things. She is a shrew who will not be tamed, and yet her nature is making everyone in her familia suffer. So som advice on how to help her not care any more is appreciated.

Unless you are Ted.

[she glances over it. Si. This seems fairly ambiguous. Satisfied, she sends it]
spacepeterpan: The Doctor's bemusedly disappointed face (Oh yes wonderful)

[The Doctor eyerolls emphatically and sighs. What do you do with someone who'd--maybe literally--shoot themselves in the foot to prove they don't need new shoes?]

You lot... y'never change, do you.

[He shakes his head exasperatedly and waves a hand at the screen like he's shooing away a kid he'd hauled inside for a talk but he doesn't really want to argue with anymore. When he goes on, he says it in a matter-of-fact tone like he's reciting a standard quick-and-dirty "treatment" for a common ailment when the patient refuses to treat it properly.]

Well, as y'like, the easy way's to keep on pretending it's all really very simple, 'course, you'll be lying t'yourself and anyone else who cares about you, and if you're pretending y'don't care, you'll be hurting them, and yourself, and they'll notice, even if they don't understand, so you'll be hurting them twice, really, but it's definitely easier.

...or, well, less scary, anyway.

[He's speaking a bit from experience, there, even if his lies have been to protect them, first, and himself only second.

He might also be hoping she'll decide to do the right thing out of pride or pique, if not for the right reasons, but he can't really make her.
