Now the emperor was a great ruler... but he never kept any money. Or assets in any form. The minute he died, other emperors began seizing his territory or lands and conquering everything without him there to protect it. And while he was alive, he always invested what little he had back into his lands, unlike the other emperors who preferred to hoard their wealth.

How do I use the power of love to overcome his wench's greed and/or convince his biological son to go get a life other than just being Daddybeard's son? Or that one night stands aren't worth going to war for a nonexistent treasure over? And/or that a real father figure should step into his life? I guess I could try to be that father figure, but no, I very much doubt it.
