Thanksgiving Illusion: Bookstore, Healers and some missing friends [Video/Action]

A. Video [OTA]

So, if anyone's interested, Fairy Tail is looking for a new resident healer. If you want to apply for the job, just contact me!

[She's smiling but it does not quite reach her eyes.]

And for those who knew her, Tatlyn is gone... She's been gone for a little while actually.

Like Cassian and Kay.

[Come to think about it it was pretty much at the same time... She frowns and reaches for a notebook. The feed ends.]

B. Accidental video [OTA] and Action [Open to all the employees of Scribes and Scripts (in Fayren) and to Atreus]

[Mavis is standing on a stepladder in the bookstore's main shop window putting down the Thanksgiving decorations and putting up Christmas decorations instead. As a shop owner, she doesn't have to do that, she just happens to like it.

She also put Christmas themed books on display.

At some point, she looks above her shoulder.] What do you think, Zeref? I'd say the light string with the snowflakes looks better than the one with the snowmen. Or should I put both? Oh... And I'm sure Hana will like the red and green tinsel... It has little candy canes on it.

[She sounds and looks accomplished.]

I can't wait until we start decorating the Christmas tree in Fairy Haven!

{ Christmas exists in their world ~~don't ask me how or why, just #mashima~~, and of course Zeref was familiar with it, but he'd never once celebrated it in their own world... not once after leaving Mildian. Here, however, after Mavis all but forced him to take part in Fairy Tai's previous Christmas party, he's not as opposed to the idea as he once was. He'd just do whatever he usually did during their parties; make a token appearance, try to find some way to enjoy himself, but not stay a minute longer than Mavis would require of him.

Zeref watched Mavis whoosh about the room on the stepladder, with its wheels mounted on top of the bookcases. He'd wanted to offer to help her, but she seemed to have it covered, and she seemed to be having too much fun to accept it even if she'd needed it. }

I prefer the snowflakes.

Great minds!

[She says with a wink, and before Zeref knows it, he has a silver and gold tinsel loosely wrapped around his neck and shoulders.]

Do you feel the spirit of the Christmas season yet?

{ Perhaps he'd been following her movements along the ladder a bit too closely, wondering if he should offer to help her anyway despite the fact that she clearly didn't need it, because the tinsel was on him before he realized it.

Zeref looks down at his shoulders, seemingly confused. }

You're not going to make me wear this for the party, are you?

[Mavis laughs at that.] Only if you really want to. Admittedly, it brings out your eyes.

There isn't much there to bring out.

{ But if she likes gold and silver on him, he can try to find an outfit with both. }

Pff. Beauty is the eyes of the beholder, they say~

[She'd like that.]

{ Oh, Mavis. Have you gotten better at flirting? Zeref smiles at that, and reaches out for her hand. }

Of course. I should have known better. Thank you, Mavis.

[Healer wanted? Here's something that pings Liora. Unlike her Light-based magic, healing is something she's been able to do with no trouble.]

Um...I can be a healer.

That's true! But as you know, it can get rowdy sometimes at Fairy Haven sometimes. [Especially since the heroes are here.] Are you prepared to getting overworked sometimes?

Also are there any limits to your healing powers?

Getting overworked? I can get overworked.

[She feels like she gets overworked trying to improve her powers. Not to mention dealing with stuff back home.]

Limits? I can heal wounds...but I can't cure sickness or anything. Is that what you mean...?

[Yes, but Mavis doesn't want her to suffer from burnout.]

Yes, that's what I'm talking about. What about counterspells? If someone is... let's say put to sleep by a spell. Can you wake them up?

I...don't have anything like that either...

[Her frills start to sink in shame...]

That's alright, Liora. If you want to be a resident healer for Fairy Tail, I'll be more than happy to have you. But we might need someone who's specialized in the fields you don't know to work with you? Would that be okay?

Oh, that's fine. It's always better to have a team. For me, especially, it's never good to go somewhere dangerous alone...

[Another reason she misses Cane and Snowy...]

Then let's do this. How about I show you the infirmary? Unless you know it already. Are you at Fairy Haven right now?

[Welp, looks like Mavis is going to have to show her.]

I'm not at Fairy Haven, but I can fly there now.

[OOC: Okay, I'll have to look.]

A place where wounded people can lay down and rest, and where we store drugs and bandages.

Take your time. I'll be in the main hall.

Oh, okay! I'll be there soon.

[She'll have a light bug snack first, and then she'll fly over to the Fairy Haven building. She lands in front of the entrance and then enters the main hall.]

Hello? Mavis?

I am not sure if you putting up lights was meant to be filmed or not.

[He felt like he needed to be polite. Though what the hell are those lights? Not shapes he would normally be us to existing in his world. Though at the mention of Christmas it did remind him of something, but he kept that to himself for now.]

...What? [She blinks, looking back at Allen.] Oh. Not really. [She gives him a bright smile.] But I don't mind if people saw that.

How are you doing, Allen?

I guess so long as it wasn't anything that was meant to be private. [It was just lights, so he assumed that if it was something meant to be private her reaction would have been different.]

Ah... I'm doing fine. Busy with work and helping out, but fine. Though I guess the holidays are coming up, huh?

Oh, no. [She turns the angle of the camera to show Allen the inside of the bookstore.] I'm at Scribes and Scripts, my bookstore. And I'm putting up some decorations so that the customers will feel even more welcome.

What about your job?

And, yes, they certainly are.

I have three, but I am considering quitting one of them that I'm not happy with. So it keeps me busy usually.

[Being a waiter was not fun to him even after trying for so long.]

Do you need help with decorations anywhere else?

[All in all, for as weird as this Genessia place is as a whole, Atreus has been kind of enjoying it. Of course, he wishes his dad was here - they had just really started to bond, after all - but there's so much to see, to do, to learn, that he's properly distracted from his loneliness for the time being.

And for someone who loves learning, who loves stories, a bookstore is one of the most interesting places to be.

He hardly even notices Mavis working in the window, looking almost right through her at the shelves of books inside, and walks into the store with almost radiant interest as he looks from one shelf to the next.]

How am I supposed to pick when there are so many choices...?

[Since Zeref since to be busy sorting even more books in the back room, Mavis comes down her ladder and walks to the boy. She smiles.] Maybe I could help? What kind of book are you looking for?

My name is Mavis, by the way.

[Atreus turns his attention away from one of the shelves for a moment, to the source of the voice - she look like she's around his age. He was meeting more fellow kids here than he ever did back home. It's kind of exciting!]

I don't really know. I've never really been somewhere with this much to read before. Are there any stories about this place, maybe?

[An interesting request.] Ah. I'm afraid not. Stories about other places, yes. About magic. About any kind of hobby you'd like to take up...

I made it for him. Thinking of trying to get a line of them sold as Christmas presents, but we'll see if I can get it marketed. I don't have my Dad's skill for advertising.

You might definitely be on to something there, Rose! Hopefully, you'll also have drinks for people like me who don't drink blood anymore.

We've still got Vitex! That's my Da's pop brand. I wanted the Doctor and Hana to collab on a minty one, but so far no good. But if you like fruit flavors, that's all o' em. Cherry, strawberry, kiwi, orange, I think bubblegum might be fun but you'd have to ask Fluffy, plus it might mix weird with the vitamins in it.

Bubble... gum? I don't think I've ever tasted that. Is it sweet? I usually prefer sweet flavors.

It is! I'll bring you some regular bubblegum next time I come. It's like a candy, but you only chew it, don't swallow. And you can make bubbles with it.

I can't heal, but I'm sorry about your team member. Ms Tatlyn was the one my Glitches bothered, right?

Mavis...

[Qubine's responding for something completely different, but it's something that's been on his mind for a short while.]

The Guardian election should be coming up soon. Are you planning to run for Fayren again?

[She tilts her head.] Funny you'd ask. I've been thinking about it too, lately. And since I've been Fayren's Guardian for a year and a half now, I was thinking it might be time to let someone else fill in the city Guardian's shoes... [So to speak. She never wears shoes.]

Why do you ask? Are you planning on running yourself?

[He lets out a huff, amused at the complete contradiction in his own thoughts.]

I've been thinking about it...I was thinking about stepping out of the Deputy position, but if you're not going to run for Guardian, I'd be willing to give it another go. I'm not sure I would trust anyone else...

But you'd trust yourself, right?

Of course.

[For a while, at least. He'll re-evaluate if he wins and performs a term.]

Good.

[Because if people start questioning your decisions, you're going to need that. Mavis is quite popular but there's always someone who's going to try and make you doubt your choices.]

[He nods.]

So, if I do run and win, would you be interested in being a deputy? Or would you want to step out of the scene entirely?

[ Sam has a love-hate relationship with the holidays. Mostly he hates that he loves them, because it hurts to remember it. Mavis is a good boss, though, so when she appears onscreen, talking to Zeref and decorating, he connects with her ]
