[the video starts in silence and darkness. The music begins to play softly and the lights come up, white swirling through the TARDiS control room as he slams through Carol of the Bells on his guitar dressed in a red velvet coat that's slightly reminiscent of a former life wasn't the kind to 'boogy' and would look at him askance at the very thought but would nevertheless enjoy it despite himself.

That aside...

When he's done, he bows deeply]

SO. Anyone up for some wassailing? I need to get out and so do you. Joy is in the air and might as well make the most of it. That goes for you too, Gonzo. Twinkle Boots. [guess who that is]

[he looks up at her and because it's her, he lets her see the truth. The long tired truth of someone who is trying to hold it together the only way he knows how and he's not particularly good at it.

[And then runs over to find and glomp him.] You had me convinced. [Leans up on tiptoes and kisses his cheek.] I told Fluffy he didn't have to be like... I dunno. The past.

But I want to know what you want to be like. Why are you doing this? Because you want to, or maintaining appearances? Is it worth it? You don't have to pretend if you don't want to.

[he doesn't answer right away, just holds her close, setting a hand at the small of her back. The lights lower and soft, unobtrusive music plays somewhere as he dances with her, though just a sort of sway like teenagers or the residents of the geriatric ward who don't have much movement left.

After a moment he says]

I have to. I have to do something. And right now, this is what it is. It may not be the best and it may not even be...something I should do but I need to. [he can't even really explain it so hopes she can understand a part of it]

[Dances!!! Then tiptoes up and kisses proper.] I can understand that! Actually I think you're doing really well! S'what I'd do too. Did do, will keep doing. [Wry grin and kisses his nose tip.]

If things get too overwhelmin' and you need to slip off for a bit, just give me a signal and I'll keep the others distracted until you can come back, okay?

Really well? [he grins] Hardly. But I'll take your word for it. [it doesn't feel like it but he'll believe whatever she says. He gives her a little half dip and pulls her closer]

I'll owe you one, Rose Tyler. [though really there's so much he can never repay]

[GIGGLES. TRIES NOT TO SWOON. She wants to be cool and fierce like River Song okay okay.]

[Deep breath and clears throat to sing semi-bass:]

In that case... [his hand slips a little lower on her back as he dips his head to murmur] Your room or mine.

[SHIVERS IN BLISS!!!]

Mario Kart it is. [he dances them out of the control room] That red shell has your name all over it.

[Giggles and runs along with him.] What? No way! I'll blue shell you then! [Because she would be in last place with him first oops.]

I would take a Blue Shell for you any day of the week. [he pauses at an intersection, then hangs a right.] That's the best one, right?

[Snuggles!!] Mmhm! Only the best for my Doctor.
