⚜ The Great War Reenactment of 2018
Who: Mavis, Zeref, Anyone at Fairy Haven
Where: Fairy Haven
When: When they're supposed to be decorating.
What: Decorating got boring, boredom leads to a debate, a debate leads to two strategic geniuses using magic to recreate every possible scenario of a war.
Warnings: Implications of theoretical violence, but no actual violence.
{ While everyone's getting ready for Fairy Tail's next big annual Christmas party, there's suddenly a loud crash coming from upstairs. At Fairy Haven, only guild members are allowed on the second level, with only one notable exception: Zeref, who shares the Master's Quarters with Mavis. Anyone who would rush upstairs and throws open the door to Mavis' room would the room seemingly appears as another world entirely; anyone familiar with Mavis' Illusion Magic would recognize it for what it is immediately, but it's far more... elaborate, even by Mavis' standards, and her illusions felt so real that even Zeref fell for them on occasion. }
{ OOC: Zeref's dialogue will be in green, while Mavis' will be in red. }
Hear that, Mavis? Bosco just fell. Again. Alvarez gains a thirty percent morale boost for the next five turns. History repeats.
Not so fast, Zeref. We're telepathically linked, remember? So you know what happens next.
{ A 'lacrima' at Zeref's side illuminates. A voice comes through, and you can almost hear the voice grinning ear to ear. }
Ha! Bosco's guilds are even worse than I remember. Hey, uh, Zer-... sorry, Your Majesty, can we go to Veronica, next? { Another voice immediately cuts in. It's a much calmer, colder, and more calculated voice. } No, God Serena. We've been over this. Under Imperial Edict One-Dash-Seven-Three-Nine Section A, all wartime strategic calculations are decided by His Majesty alone-- { God Serena cuts back in, interrupting the other voice. } Have you even met Prince Cream, Invel? Spend five minutes talking to the guy and you'll want to kill him, too. { A female voice cuts in. } Sorry, Invel, I'm with Serena on that one. ... I can't believe I just said that.
{ A palpable frustration starts showing on Zeref's face. }
Ha! See? You do remember. You suffer from a frustration penalty for the next three turns, too! They really aren't that different from Fairy Tail, are they?
... Fine. Your move, Mavis.
{ The illusions begin reshuffling. They'll be continuing like this for a while, unless someone interrupts them. Through the illusions, it might be possible to tell that the decorations in Mavis' office were seemingly abandoned halfway through. }

Pausing at the door, she listens in - there are some voices within the room that she doesn't recognize at all. However, when Ajeel's voice chimes in, cackling about how the mages of Bosco weren't even a challenge, she immediately kicks the door open with enough force to knock it off its hinges.]
Don't you dare do anything to...

She looks back and forth from Mavis to Zeref, clearly embarrassed about barging in over this.]
Er... sorry. I just... [Bending over, she picks up the door off of the ground as she magically changes into an outfit that's better-suited for construction work.] I'll fix this right away.
XD
It's okay, Erza, you couldn't know. Thank you.

{ This ranks pretty low on the level of things that can happen in Fairy Tail on any given day. }
It's... fine, Erza. I can't blame you for doing your job and protecting your First Master. { Any of the Twelve would have done the same if they thought Zeref were in danger, even if, realistically, every single one of them knew he didn't actually need the protection. }

Maybe I should get a door that's made of stronger stuff. If I could kick it down so easily...
[She shakes her head, trying to focus on the task at hand. As she busies herself with reattaching the door, summoning tools as she needs them, she figures she might as well ask what's on her mind.]
What's going on? I heard one of the Spriggan Twelve in here...

You had a great idea, Zeref. Thank you for that. It was a lot of fun!

But as usual, between Mavis and Zeref, it turned into yet another game, in which they treated the lives of Zeref's subjects and Mavis' guild members like disposable pieces on a board. Whatever helped keep their curses in check. Zeref then reaches down, and picks up the decorations he had discarded when the game began. }
Your turn to come up with something, next time.
