Good Night, My Angel
WHO: Ruby Rose, Yang Xiao Long
WHAT: Yang braves the lightning storm to bring some books back to the Yangcave. Time for some nostalgia!
WHEN: December 19, 2013 - Evening
WHERE:The Yangcave Ruby and Yang's apartment
Yang didn't mind the lightning. It didn't strike all THAT often, and as long as she avoided high ground, she didn't think she had anything to worry about. It was actually kind of pretty, watching the sky light up and dance with flickers of bright light and bone-shaking rumbles. She could have watched it all day.
Since the tornado and sandstorm days were coming up, she took the liberty of getting supplies. Having the puppy around made Yang feel better about leaving Ruby alone for a little while, so the big sister could run some necessary errands. Still, she was worried. Even though Ruby was doing better, she was still a far cry from the happy girl she'd been last week.
Stopping at the library, she picked out ten books (her limit) of varying topics and titles, though all of them featured some sort of adventure and a brave hero or heroine rising up against the forces of evil. Then she stopped to fill up what carrying capacity remained with way too much junk food. The team was going to be cooped up for a while, so it was best to be prepared for movie marathons and scary stories around the flashlight.
Shuffling the load in her arms, Yang fished the key out of her pocket and unlocked the door, toddling inside.
"Ruby, I'm home!"

"Ruby, I'm home!"

Except it may have been a little much, a little too fast as she's gone and tired herself out by the time Yang got home. Her and Beo (That's the puppy's name by the way) are both cuddled up in her bed with a big old blanket wrapped around them.
"Welcome home! We're in the bedroom!"

"Perfect. Stay right there!" she called out, dumping her books on the kitchen counter before fussing around with the dishes. Her cooking wasn't the best, but she could definitely boil water.
When Yang finally poked her sunny head into the room, she had a book clamped under her elbow and two steaming mugs of hot cocoa stuffed with marshmallows. "Scoot over, sis, I don't want to spill," she grinned. "I picked up some books at the library, thought maybe we could read something together. Just like the good ol' days!"

Her eyes will brighten up a little when she catches sight of the book in Yang's arm, and the hot cocoa in her hands. She'll quickly lift Beo up and move over so that there's space for Yang on the bed.
"Really? Wow, it's been forever we last did that!" She's honestly a little touched.

"So what kind of story should we pick? There's a spooky one about a giant spider, one about a magician, one about an old married couple that make a game out of trying to kill each other off..."

"Hmmm... They all sound pretty good, how about the magician one to start?" She knew a wizard now, after all.

"It was at a magic show I saw the man who looked enough like me to be my twin. My wife and I were seated at a Saturday night performance, it was summer and warm, the audience melting in weather and convivality. All around I saw married and engaged couples delighted and then alarmed by the comic opera of their lives which was being shown in immense symbol onstage. A woman was sawed in half. How the husbands in the audience smiled."

For now, though, it was a nice story about a man and his wife going to the carnival and watching a stage magician perform his acts, followed by the next act: a female pickpocket taking stage, with one of her "victims" greatly resembling the teller of the story. Yang conveyed his outrage and dismay at seeing his twin get thoroughly duped in front of everyone by furrowing her brow and deepening her voice.
The story was only about ten pages long, and ended pleasantly with the man critiquing his "twin" to find all of the differences and being satisfied to drive home with his wife.
