[Action/Video] 1st Verse: An Intriguing Haven Somewhere Far Away

(OOC Note: Wow, I suck at this bite-size post stuffs. Sorry about that.)

The number of things that make sense dropped dramatically in the past hour or so. Tomoe Mami, the one who was slowly walking out of the shining archway to her presumed freedom, was trying to figure out what was going on through what can only be described as confused introspection. Normally when you try to think about the past, it comes out as a vague series of thoughts or images that are linked to sensations or ideas one had at the time. Unfortunately, that was not the case from the moment she stepped out of that futuristic...vessel she had presumably been sleeping in for some time.

Needless to say, her thoughts were initially blurred by a heavy feeling of sluggishness, not unlike those days where you did not sleep enough the night before. Yet it took mere seconds for her to have a recollection. To summarize, the last thing she remembers before waking was a new friend of hers...names escapes her...was placing a gun to her head. After this, she very, very clearly recalls panic when the barrel of the weapon sent the round not through the head of the other girl, but at her own. As unsettling as that was, Mami's most recent memory was of a gunbarrel carefully moved so that its target was none other than herself. The fears built up from there.

Thankfully, her mind became desperate as she remembers more. Hours. Days. Weeks. She remembers a very distinct past with other magical girls—that's right, being a magical girl, a Puella Magi was her occupation—fighting strange beings that escaped simple explanation. Yet there was something wrong with her memories. Two sets of rules, two methods of conflict, two oddly distinct timelines. It was like her life before the last couple weeks or so was nonexistent and what lay beyond was something else entirely. Needless to say, this caused a never-ending headache that she sought to solve by focusing on the present. And like mockery from the gods, this also backfired on poor Mami.

Even though she had put aside the events of her past, the current situation was no easier to understand. As she left the Bay, wandering into her new world with wet feet, Mami could only feel insecure, nervous, and perhaps a little fear. Was she dead and now in the afterlife? Is there some sort of terrible power at work? And what are these? Her mind finally went to the device she had found with her. Yes, the pamphlet gave a simple explanation, but that still did not quell her numerous worries. She needed an explanation for what this place was, more than likely, that was not going to happen.

After enough walking and trying to figure out what was going on, Mami eventually gave up and found a bench nearby. None of the "people" she found could give her an answer. In fact, it seems like everyone here were like actors, playing a part thoroughly without really understanding their situation. So not only was her past a mess and her current state a mystery, but even the people in this world were unhelpful. With all of this confusion, there was only one place to truly start. Calm down and start thinking clearly. Easier said than done.

Ahh the bay. Such a nice day to spend around it. The smell coming off the clean water was quite pleasant and mixed well with the sunshine and light breeze. Koishi was sitting several paces from the entrance, simply enjoying the day. She took another bite of the giant soft pretzel she had bought. It was good but not as good as he unusual things she found in the scarlet mansion back home. Still, it was nice to have something unusual for once rather than more of the same.

She almost missed Mami exiting the bay, too focused on the clouds to turn her luminous eyes to the doors. But turn they did, the sound of the magical girl's murmuring and unsettled emotional state quickly attracting her attention.

Standing, Koishi straightened her skirt and set out, on the left foot, of course, quickly catching up with the newcomer and falling into pace behind her. “Miss? Hey Miss!” No response. Koishi frowned a little bit. She had been getting so good at making people notice her. It was a bit upsetting for her to find someone who didn't react in any way to her calls. Not even subconsciously. Normally she might give up if something like this happened but it was probably better to keep trying. After all, it was such a nice day it would be a real shame if someone spent it worrying.

“Miss! Hey! Can you see me? Hellooo!” She followed Mami as she walked around and asked questions, reaching up to tug at her sleeve at one point with only marginal success. Mami was simply too distressed and distracted to pay the little youkai any real notice.

Not about to be defeated, Koishi sat herself down on the bench next to Mami, leaning in, her third eye floating close as she allowed a calming influence to wash over the blonde. She didn't normally flaunt her powers around like this, preferring to allow people to feel their own emotions, but this felt like an exception she should make. “Hello Miss? Are you okay?” She raised a hand, poking Mami's cheek. “Miss! Please stop frowning. You have such a pretty face. The frown isn't good for it. You'll get wrinkles much too early.”

"Hello! You can see me now miss! That's good!" She pulled her hand away from Mami's cheek, reaching down to grasp the blonde's. "You came out of the place and you couldn't see me, and then you walked around and couldn't see me, but now that you've sat down you can see me!" This was apparently a good thing from her tone, shaking the magical girl's hand vigorously. "My name is Koishi Komeiji! It's very nice to meet you!" She let go quickly and grabbed the pretzel in both hands, tearing in half, offering the piece up to Mami. "Here! This will help. You're all stormy. Don't be stormy"

She rocked back and forth in her seat, her third eye bobbing up and down, her eyes visibly luminous under the faint shadow of her wide brimmed hat. She seemed harmless enough though, her actions quite kind all things considered.

"Did I... What? I didn't make anything miss! I'm a satori youkai. We just read minds, but don't worry. I can only read the subconscious mind now so you don't have to be scared." The little youkai was nowhere near "scary."

She pointed at the bay. "I came out of the same place you did a while ago. And so did a bunch of other people before me and after me. If you come out of the place you get a necklace. Mine is green and pretty." She reached into her shirt and pulled out the piece of jewelry. None of the other people she talked to had been wearing one. "I dunno what this place is, but they have really fun things. And good food. And games. And all sorts of interesting places."

Koishi at least seemed friendly enough, despite this new place. Her calming influence was slowly dimming, allowing Mami to feel her own emotions more. "Yeah! It's a strange place. Someone watches over everyone here and lots of strange things happen. But that's okay. It's fun! And safe too!"

Koishi blinked and looked over at Mami when she pulled her necklace out, leaning in to get a better look at it. "Ah! It's really lovely Miss! The chilly colors go well with your hair. I like it a lot!" Koishi reached into her own shirt, removing her necklace. It was similar in many ways but, as she said, was primarily green, though it had a few touches of blue.

The little youkai held her necklace next to Mami's for a moment before letting go of her own, reaching down and picking the half of the pretzel off of her lap and offering it to Mami again. It smelled surprisingly good. "I'm sorry Miss. I can't remember people's names anymore. Not since my head fell off. But that's okay! I can do lots of other things now."

"It's not a blessing. But it's not a bad thing either. Just something new. You should find Miss White. She can explain a lot of things to you. She's easy to find she has black hair and a big sour frown all the time and she wears a white outfit that has gold shoulders and eyes on the collarbone."

"Nope! Only sometimes after a long time of trying. Or if I'm really aware sometimes a name will stick, but not always." She scooted closer to Mami, reaching up and removing her hat. The little youkai turned and lifted her bangs exposing a severe looking scar above her left temple. It appeared to be very old sat in the middle of a small depression as if a dime sized bit of her skull was missing.

"I didn't want to read minds anymore so now my head is in two pieces." Her third eye floated up. It had a similar scar on the top. "So sometimes my head goes in two different directions and I have to focus to get them back. But that's not easy. It's okay though. I'm much much better at it now."

"It's okay Miss." Koishi put her hat back on, tilting it up slightly so she could keep a clear view of Mami. "If people didn't ask questions then no one would learn anything new. I can't really be sad about it anyway. There isn't really a point." Her third eye was swaying very gently, drifting closer as if examining her.

"You're really prickly miss. Don't be prickly. If you're prickly you'll start to shimmer and no one will be able to see you clearly. You wont even be able to see yourself." She wasn't making much sense... "They gave you lots of money. You should use that. And you can ask people if you still don't know what to do. But you should ask people with necklaces. The people without necklaces are a little strange sometimes."
