[Action at and around the Bay]

[It was a relatively calm and normal day, but that wouldn't last past noon as an explosion echoed throughout the area surrounding The Bay. A certain eight foot tall man had woken up, crammed in one of the pods and immediately blasted his way out. The effect on the surrounding area was minimal, more sound than damage. Of course anyone with the ability to sense Ki levels would probably TASTE the spike in Ki following said explosive sound. But aside from the actual pod, the only casualties of the explosion were the items in the pod with him.]

[A few moments after the explosion, a large shirtless man, scars adorning his chest, face, and arms would stand at the entrance of the bay, looking out on the citywith a look in his eyes reminiscent of a wild and scared beast, uncertain if they should leave the relative safety of the cave.]

Dad was told it was a meteor at first, too, but the truth came out later that it was Frieza.

[She's not bothered by Broly's apathy on the issue, though.]

Anyway, once we're done eating, I'll take you to a men's big and tall clothing store. I can't imagine that it's comfortable walking around outside with no shirt on in this cold.

[Broly finishes scarfing down the second half of the sandwich with equal fervor.]

It's not that bad. Winter nights on Vampa are a lot worse.

[He won't object, but he's not exactly excited about it either.]

[That sounds pretty miserable, but she's not going to trash talk the man's planet.]

What's it like on Vampa? I'm guessing the technology isn't as advanced?

There isn't any. Father said King Vegeta was jealous of my ability and exiled me to Vampa. Father stole a ship to come after me and crashed it as he was looking for me. We were the only people on the planet.

[There's a casual shrug. He's coming around to the whole technology thing, but Vampa is home, as crappy as it is.]

Oh. That sounds a little lonely.

[Much as she loves her father, she's a sociable person. She can't imagine having only one person to interact with for most of her life.]

So being here with all of these people around is probably a big shock, huh?

[Broly goes quiet for a bit. It's been such a whirlwind since Cheelai and Lemo found him on Vampa.]

I... didn't think it was lonely at the time. I'd never known anything different. There was more people around among Frieza's people, but they steered clear of me. Part of that was Frieza's favor, and part of that was because I stood up to his so-called strongest warrior when he was bothering a friend.

It hasn't really hit me quite yet...

[Although she and Trunks would be the more knowledgeable ones, Goku is probably less likely to overload him with information.]

Goku... you mean Kakarot?

[The whole having different names was still confusing to Broly. And she seems like she's on good terms with him so, maybe she has some insight into how he works.]

...What is he like? I don't exactly know him. Just... almost got killed by him.

Yes. Kakarot is his saiyan name, and Goku is the name he was given when he landed on Earth. You can call him by either name. Dad always calls him Kakarot.

[The almost got killed part surprises her a bit.]

Goku is a fierce warrior with a kind heart. He's eager to keep getting stronger and fight challenging opponents, but he's not really the sort of person to hold a grudge. If you wanted help with something here, he'd give it, no problem.

[The talk of grudges gets Broly to really think - something he's not entirely used to just yet. He had no real interest in his father's grudge, but at the same time not holding a grudge felt... wrong to him.]

My father was driven by a grudge for nearly.... [He stops to think, trying to do the math of Vampan years to Saiyan years, which takes a couple minutes.] ...45 years? It was the only thing that drove him. To have me kill prince Vegeta.

[He pauses, only belatedly realizing he's talking to Vegeta's daughter.]

I don't really have any interest in pursuing that grudge. It just feels... wrong to not have that drive.

[If she's alarmed by that, it doesn't show in her facial expression. Instead, she's thoughtful.]

Maybe it's just that your drive and reason for fighting is different rather than absent. For me, I want to fight to protect people. I don't really care if I'm the strongest around, as long as I'm strong enough to do what I need to.

[And recent events plus nightmares of dangerous beings from home have reinforced that she is not at that level yet.]

Your reason for fighting might be protecting others, too. You stood up for your friend, so it's not like you have no drive to fight. Love is just as valid a reason to fight as hate.
