The Hunter's Moon (closed to Rip)
[A smile curls onto his lips once he senses Rip near. He knew she would come after leaving a special invitation at her door. While he always preached against this sort of practice, Augustine would be lying if he didn't admit to being a hypocrite at times.
As much as he enjoys his newfound glory in life and upon the stage, the dhampir still has beastly desires that can only be satisfied in blood. He wants nothing else other than to carve his fangs into the tender flesh of some pretty young thing, preferably some beautiful woman but beggars cannot be choosers. To say the least, Augustine has grown bored of this mundane life he leads and yearns what all vampires eventually come to yearn; excitement. Life is eternal for him and his kind, a boring cesspool of nothingness with hints of joy sprinkled within. While he's honestly grateful to be living his dream, Augustine can't help but want to appease the beast within.
Therefore, he cooks up this elaborate ruse to lure his beloved into Everglade for a fun-filled evening. It's just a shame that the poor residents of this ghastly town are in jeopardy with these two vampires prowling about. In all truth, it might be best for the locals to stay indoors.]
Eyes in the Dark (OTA)
[Ever get that creepy feeling of being watched by someone or something? Well, now might be the time to glance over your shoulder since something is indeed stalking you from within the shadows. As for what is stalking you, that's to be determined. If there's one thing that Augustine excels with, it's his uncanny ability to remain virtually invisible for short amounts of time.
He uses the shadows to cloak his presence, a task better suited for the evening than during the day. However, anyone possessing even an inkling of magic might be able to detect him. After all, the dhampir can't exactly mask his blood lust very well after months of fasting. Every so often, his footsteps could be heard behind his potential victims before suddenly silencing again. Unlike Rip, he's not used to stalking his potential victims, a flaw that will eventually lead to his downfall.
However, he's certainly trying his best to find the best opportunity to attack.]
When the Hunter Becomes the Hunted (OTA)
[This entire scenario was a fool's errand at best. Augustine knew it but still went along with it. While it's within his legal right to hunt after dark, not everyone here within Everglade is some helpless sap. That's something the dhampir learns the hard way after being run through by some fool brandishing steel.
Still clinging to life after that bloody encounter, Augustine eventually succumbs to his injuries. He unwillingly picked the perfect backdrop for what might be his untimely death. A graveyard, an abandoned one that has more overgrown bushes than tombs here. He manages to lose his pursuer long enough to take refugee under an overgrowth of vines curled around an old statue of some nameless angel. He rests momentarily after ensuring that his assailant isn't anywhere near. It takes him far too long to shrug off his signature red coat thanks to his wounds.]
They've ruined a perfectly good suit...
[He mutters to himself as he tries in vain to stop the bleeding. The wound hasn't healed yet. It must've been a blessed blade.]
What a fine mess to get yourself in. [The dhampir mutters as he rests his head against the foot of the statue.] Should've just ignored the craving.
['As you always done.']

[Closed: Hunter's Moon]
Then she read the invite and smirked. To hunt with him..Rip couldn't think of anything more exciting for a date between them. It was a thrill she didn't get to chase as much anymore, having to fill that void with other things. But, to be given the chance to indulge in the bloodlust she's always trying to suppress with someone she loves?
How can she resist?
That evening she was following his scent into Everglade. It was something she knew intimately and let it lead her right to her beloved Robin. She almost pitied any mortal that might cross their path... ]

Took you long enough. [He teases haughtily with that frustratingly appealing aristocratic flair.] I was starting to become a tad worried.
[Lies. Augustine knew Rip would be just fine.]
This is a good night for a hunt, don't you agree?
[The moon is bright and ominous.]
no subject
Oh shush. You know as vell as I do zhat I'm zhe better tracker of zhe two of us.
[But, she's still thrilled he was 'worried' as she nears him with a faint smirk on her lips.]
It's a perfect night~. Now, zhe question is, vat shall ve hunt hm~? Zhe inhabitants of zhis fair city.. or each ozher.
no subject
So would she really fair well against him? He's curious to know.]
Now that's a novel idea. [He answers with a laugh.] Us hunting each other? Goodness, why didn't I think of that first?
[This could serve as decent exercise.]
I vow not to rely on my little pets for this one.
[He means Astaroth and the others. Those pesky demons haven't seen much action over the last few months but Augustine still has their glyphs etched into his flesh. His pact with them have yet to be broken.]
What say you, love? Feel like playing?
no subject
Rip drifts close enough to slip her arms around his shoulders and to lean in for a brief kiss.]
Good. If I feel zhe demons, all bets are off und our game ends.
[A gentle warning, that's all. She still wasn't fond of them or demons in general.]
Besides, I'm villing to bet zhat even vith your magic, my hunting skills vill triumph.
[She was just that confidant in her skills.]
I'm always up for a good hunt my dear Robin~.
no subject
This little evening between them is well-deserved.]
Of course, of course. [He answers with a slight chuckle.] I wouldn't dream of letting Astaroth and his brood ruin the mood.
[Especially since he really doesn't want to end up on Rip's bad side. He still remembers that one faithful evening after that whole debacle with Bakugou. She was quite crossed with him.]
You think so? [He questions while idly stroking his fingers through her long raven locks.] You're underestimating the potency of my sorcery, love.
[That she is but for good reason. Augustine isn't a hunter. Not at all.]
Alright then. So how about we get little game started.
no subject
She smirked at the delicious sound of his low groan from her brief lips. It really has been way too long since they spent any time together like this. With how busy life has been...
Rip felt like perhaps they should make night like this a more regular thing if they could manage it. Perhaps a vampire date night was in order~.
Do I~? Ve can alvays test it out to see if I am underestimating it or not me dear Blue-jay~.
[She leaned in for another brief kiss. Rip was curious to see how he held up against her. Especially if she was in her element.]
Gladly. Shall I run first or do you vish to be my prey tonight.
no subject
It's typically "ladies first" but I'll take the first stab at this. [He says with a fiendish grin.] After all, I know a few tricks that might just surprise you, dear.
[Just when he says that, Augustine crudely strikes Rip across her rump with a mischievous grin.]
Catch me if you can!
[Somehow, someway, Augustine vanishes right before her eyes without a trace. She's seen him do this trick before when he was hiding from the paparazzi. So even though she can't see him, she can certainly smell him. Augustine's fondness for this particular rosemary base cologne gives him away almost instantly. Although, one might suggest it's done on purpose in regards to this game. Nevertheless, he's already moved deeper into Everglade.
Rip better use her acute sense of smell to track him, especially since Augustine knows better than to make a sound.]
no subject
Regardless, Rips going to let him have a few seconds of a head start before she's dashing off after him. His scent was the biggest tell she was chasing as they moved deeper into the woods. but, she could also feel his distinctive aura brushing against her other senses as she relaxed, letting instincts guide her on this delicious little hunt. ]
no subject
He can feel Rip already starting to close in and it's a little frustrating. So the crafty bastard decides to lure his pursuer into the sanctuary of a nearby park. If he could somehow hide here---]
no subject
Even when he dashed under a bridge for a few moments, she wasn't far behind. However, once they got to the park, she slowed down a little. There would be plenty of places for him to hide if he wanted so she had to be careful and make sure she did not loose his scent even for a moment.
Despite her caution, Rip looked like she was very happy to be chasing him and even eager to catch her lover if she could manage it.]
no subject
Wow! [She could hear his voice as clear as day within the depth of her mind.] Color me impressed, dear. You're already hot on heels but the trail grows cold.
[The little fox manages to sneak past Rip just when she slipped by a series of bushes nearby. He hops onto a park bench beside a large overgrown tree so it could angle itself for its next gravity defying leap onto a low tree branch. It's then that Augustine forgoes his invisibility and reappears sitting upon the branch with a smirk upon his lips.]
Yoohoo~!
[He waves cheekily at Rip.]
no subject
But, it was enough to allow the little clever fox to sneak past her and cause her to momentarily loose his scent as she rolled her eyes at his antics. She had gone back to searching when she finally heard him again and glanced up, spotting him easily above her on the branch of a tree. Rip made her way over, looking rather amused as she gazes up at her lover and that adorable smirk on his lips.]
I vouldn't say zhe trail grew cold. I simply needed to find it again und you let me~.
When the Hunter Becomes the Hunted - Hope this is okay!
She peeked around her angel and saw-]
Mr. Augustine? Are you alright?
[Was this a ghost? A trick? She swallowed as she came out a little further.] Do you... do you need help?
This is fine! No worries
Little one, what are you doing here? [Augustine doesn't have the time to mask his surprise once he catches a glimpse of the girl's bright blond hair.] This is...quite an unfortunate meeting.
[That's an understatement considering the ordeal he's in currently.]
It's not safe out here, little one. [He chides.] You ought to know that by now.
[Of course his concern for her well-being outweighs his. Forget about the bleeding wound and all of the agony he's in, Alice might be in danger here. He wouldn't put it past whomever is hunting him to harm the poor girl in his stead. Just that thought alone makes his blood run cold.]
Worry not about me. [He states with a strained smile.] I'll heal within a few moments but you ought run along while you can.
no subject
I couldn't... couldn't get out of Everglade before sundown, the Ace of Hearts was blocking the archway. [She bit her lip.]
But you're hurt, did... did something hunt you too? What happened? There... there's all sorts of terrible creatures hurting people. Did something hurt you? I- what can I do? Should I call someone for you?
no subject
[Augustine pauses once he sees the tear in Alice's dress. It certainly looks like someone almost did the poor child in.]
Why are they hunting you? [This is eerily similar to a piece of literature he read in his youth. A little too similar to just all be a coincidence considering the girl's namesake.] If I wasn't injured, I would easily dispatch her pathetic little peons.
[He sighs deeply. This entire fiasco was a mistake, a grave one. However, Alice's concern for his well-being warms his heart a little.]
Shh. [Augustine brings his fingers up to his lips.] No need to panic, dear. Whomever is hunting me has yet to venture near.
[Thanks to all manners of creatures and spirits lurking within this graveyard, it seems his assailant is unwilling to venture inside. That's a good but also a bad thing since the undead are commonplace here.]
If you could be a dear, send a message to Rip. She and I arrived here together.
no subject
It... I don't know how, but she's very much here, sir. She's dangerous. She'll scream "off with your head" and the four aces will come after you.
[At the question of why, she blushed a bit.] The Queen of Hearts might... be a bit upset with me as I destroyed her courtroom back in Wonderland. [In fairness to her she had thought it all a dream.]
[If he had any doubts about who she was before, that answer might permanently cement the knowledge that yes, Alice was that Alice.]
Rip? [She remembers that Augustine had mentioned they were lovers.] Should... should I go look for her then if she's here?
no subject
[He shakes his head slowly at that realization.]
How? [The question is a simple one but he knows Alice won't be able to answer.] Alice in Wonderland is a work of fiction, dear. How did you ever become real...?
[His inquires are cut short when a pained gasp escapes him. All of this is going to have to wait for now.]
S-She's near. [He answers after taking a moment to regain his composure.] However, be very careful, little one.
She might mistake you for prey.
Rip's mun is welcome to join
Isn't she?
She wants to say something only for him to gasp in pain and she looks around.]
Will... will she come if I call out to her? Is she here?
Eyes in the Dark
After a while, he shifted his course, heading for slightly tighter quarters where he himself might shift into shadow if needed. Confrontations and new fashion be damned; if the thing had enough courage to continue to follow him at such lengths, he might as well give it the attention it obviously desired. ]
You still back there? [he asked over his shoulder, eyes sweeping over what appeared to be thin air.]
no subject
The last thing he wants is trouble. Augustine isn't interested in a fight but rather a clean and efficient kill instead. That's why he doesn't answer when the man speaks. He remains as silent as possible. Not a very difficult task but difficult enough since he fears this man might possess supernatural abilities.]
no subject
Aside from the striking silver shift in his eyes, he could potentially pass as human- a tall and lean, very nicely muscled human.
He'll just wait... despite being quite literally almost being backed against a wall in the alley he's chosen.]
Come on... I don't bite. [Too hard.]
no subject
It's just your average stone, nothing special. He weighs it within the palm of his hand briefly before suddenly throwing it right past the man's head. The stone shoots out like a bullet, almost scraping Kieran's cheek before crashing into the opposite wall.
It's a distraction.]
no subject
When it shoots past him to the wall, he snaps around, eyes locking into the dent.
Yep... He's distracted.]
no subject
This idiotic vampire hesitates.
Why, you ask? It's simple. Augustine is too much of a good hearted buffoon to actually kill someone in thus manner. Centuries of conditioning and years of reading the good book has changed this monster into a moral soul. Even though his fangs yearn for that delightful metallic nectar, Augustine can't will himself to strike. He essentially have become nearly as weak willed as his adoptive son, Eliot.]
no subject
There are wolf's eyes staring back at him, and they're not at all amused.]
no subject
The golden eyes of a wolf and the cold red gaze of a vampire.]
A werewolf!?
[His surprise is plain as day. Augustine seen other werewolves before but they were never this 'human-looking' in disguise or this clean. The werewolves that lurk within Everglade are notorious for behaving more like mindless beasts than anything else but not this man here. No, he seems more human than anything else.]
Ah...ha. [A nervous chuckle escapes Augustine as he tries to break free again.] M-Mind letting me...go?
[He kind of needs to breathe, wolf-man.]
no subject
Not quite.
[That darkness only seems mildly more agitated as it sweeps through the little area, cutting them off from any passers-by. Much easier to have a civil conversation when there aren't spectators cashing in on their gossip.]
Mind telling me why you dared to stalk me?
[Sure, he'll release him... but good luck trying to get around him. While slim, he's not exactly small, and that magic twisting about him is...dark.]
When the Hunter Becomes the Hunted
However, despite her aversion to the area, Dove still flew overhead, making a quick round of the area from the 'safety' of the skies. While she had sworn never to come here alone again, the rumors of recent attacks and the 'nightmare' like connections to their victims had nagged at her guardian instincts enough that it had begun to drive her mad.
One sweep wouldn't hurt anyone, and then she could return to her penthouse, tidy and safe, and take a long, much needed bubble bath.
All thoughts of luxury vanished quickly as she spotted the figure in the graveyard, pity seeping from her for whoever it might be until she was close enough to recognize him. Pity quickly turned to absolute concern, and she dove down, landing not terribly far away.] .... Augustine?
no subject
Dove?
[He stares at her in disbelief once the archangel seemingly emerges out of nowhere. On a regular day, Augustine would've sensed her but unfortunately, his far too weak to do even that.]
What in the world---[The words are cut short by a grimace. The pain is getting worse.]
no subject
It only takes her a second to cross over to him, though she does look around the graveyard first to be sure whatever attacked him isn't still around. She's definitely not in the mood to tangle with Everglade beasties, despite her valiant efforts in convincing herself she'd sweep the area.]
What happened to you? [This is the last place she ever would have expected to run into the dhampir, and she certainly hadn't wanted the image of him covered in his own blood burned into her mind.
The grimace doesn't escape her notice, and she kneels next to him, the glow in her eyes already brightening as she reaches for whatever patch of skin is most readily available.] Please don't say you've got personalized beasties chasing after you, too...
[Now that she's here and readily assessing him, she doesn't seem too horribly concerned about his condition, aside from the fact she's found him in it. She's a much more talented healer than she is at combat.]
no subject
However, he's a little concerned. Just why is Dove wandering Everglade at night? That seems quite unusual for her but then again, she could say the same about him. Didn't this fool dhampir give up such a reckless lifestyle for the sake of something more mundane? Yes, he did but boredom can breed insanity. Maybe this also explains Dove's unexpected appearance here.]
An angel wandering aimlessly among devils? [He scoffs a little.] You must be mad, woman.
[Augustine purposely ignores her question since in all truth, he doesn't care to explain. He knows that Dove won't the answer, especially once she understands why he's here.]
No beasties, darling. Just...ran into some trouble. [Or more like trouble found him.] But it seems I've lost them.
[He flinches when he feels Dove's bare hand touch his abdomen. That accursed blade slashed right through his clothes, ruining that beautiful black suit he typically wears underneath. If he somehow manages to survive, Augustine will have to spare a trip to the tailors. However, that's the least of the dhampir's problems since the wound itself is a jagged four inches wide vertical slash that digs quite deep. His entire abdomen is covered in blood, some of which looks nearly black within the dim glow of the moon.
If Dove pokes around too much, she might accidentally touch his innards. Augustine is a rather lithe fellow. He doesn't have much weight on him. The poor bastard always been quite thin.]
no subject
She says nothing about his observation, rather focusing on the task at hand, though a frown does mar that angelic face. While she's made it her very mission to keep her role back home exclusive to her home world, it does admittedly irritate her occasionally that she's done such a good job of it.
There's an apologetic flick of her gaze to his face as she presses her open palm against his stomach, and her eyes begin to glow. She ignores what she can only assume is torn flesh and gut, and reaches out with her Light to his own.
It won't be comfortable, and he's likely to be absolutely exhausted once it's through, but her own energy coaxes his into action, knitting him back together bit bit as though speeding up what would be natural healing... and time itself.]
Good... though what they've done to your suit is a sin in itself, [she muses wryly, forcing a grin to her face and trying to stay light.] Are you here alone? I thought you avoided this place, too.
no subject
A terrible shame indeed. [He jokes with a forced chuckle that eventually becomes a wheezed gasp.] Though, I'll be able to purchase a new one within days.
[Augustine let's out an agonized sigh as she continues healing him.]
Of-Of course I'm not alone. Rip...she was with me.
no subject
Amidst her healing, she gives him a burst of soothing warmth magic, hoping it will at least quell a little of the pain. The last thing she needs is for him to pass out.]
A shopping trip is never a bad thing, [she nods, encouraging him to keep talking. She does draw back a little at the mention of Rip, but nods, continuing her healing and watching the flesh knit back together. She works slowly, so as not to send him into shock, but with his own abilities, it's surprisingly quick work.
He's still going to need a nap, though, and probably a stiff drink. Once the wound is closed, up, she'll leave it to his body to finish up the job.]
Is she alright? [Had whatever attacked him gotten to her? She can't imagine they would have separated had they both been attacked at once. Either way, Dove's already freeing one of her hands to wipe the blood on her leggings and dig for her device to call the huntress, be it for backup or just more peace of mind for Augustine.] What were you doing ?
