How educational.

Things have been learned. The experiment went okay.

If only no one had emotional attachments prior. Those got in the way, didn't they?

Tell me, humans. Why do you bother holding on to memories that cause you pain? Would you not rather wipe those memories away? It is still not understood. Fear is a great power, that has been learned, but why? Why remember if it is frightening?

Humans would be stronger if only they would forget. Right? That part, I still do not understand. Perhaps another experiment will be necessary.

Fear is a natural instinctive response for self-preservation. Those that know fear and take steps to avoid or successfully overcome it ensures one to live another day.

Without fear or understanding, it would look stupid to approach a monster only for it to bite your head off.

So you were behind this madness, and all for some strange experiment?

Why?

Memories make you who you are. The good and bad.

And forgetting painful memories doesn't mean the painful memory still didn't happen.
borntolove: (Really how interesting)

It's why you learn history. So you better yourself and don't make the same mistakes. Yes, it hurts but it's a part of who you none the less. Who your people are.

Remembering a thing that happened, and the emotions attached to it, can enable one to prevent it from happening again in the future. Sadly not everyone has the capacity to overcome that fear, even if it's their second time encountering the circumstance that caused it. This does not make them weak, it just means that their fears are truly terrifying - if only to them. Everyone has their own breaking point.

[There's no need for anonymity for him. Anything he writes here now, he'll definitely state in person if need be.]

So this was just some ill-fated experiment on your part? How utterly ridiculous. Do you truly expect us to believe this wasn't an antagonistic affair? If so, then you're quite delusional.

Your inhumanity is your weakness since you're bound to never understand what makes humans tick. Even with the answers given here, I doubt you'll be able to comprehend them.

So do us all a favor and give it a rest.

What sort of ruse is this? There's no possible way that you mean to just ask a question after terrorizing two cities. You'll be lucky not be jailed for your transgressions. Or worse, killed. Although, death here isn't permanent but you're bound to loose pieces of yourself here. Either way, karma has a funny way of always swinging backwards. You'll get yours in the end.

So why do you want to encourage humans to get rid of their memories?

yea no most of us don't exactly have a choice about the memories we have

so unless yer offerin a way to get rid of em what is even the point with fuckin with us
orlokbutterfly: ([Royal] - Sorry?)

[personal profile] orlokbutterfly 2019-03-20 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
[That response surprises him a bit. Is this for real?]

huh. tempting.

so was that the point of fuckin with us then? then you could offer your memory eatin thing?

or are humans just hilarious to mess with?

[personal profile] orlokbutterfly 2019-03-26 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
well yeah
literally anything could kill a human if it tried
they're like walking bundles of fear

As some have stated already, our memories make us who we are. And even if we forgot some things, that doesn't change the fact that those things happened. I may have lost my sons, it is a painful memory, and I wish that didn't happen, but I would not want to go on pretending that they never lived.

Perhaps you can tell us this: Why do you want to understand humanity? What will you do when you do understand?
youfool: (hmm)

[personal profile] youfool 2019-03-19 04:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Formative memories are too foundational to abandon. Or as Lord Byron put it:

"Eternity forbids thee to forget."

You won't understand until you learn eternity's worth.

If you don't remember something that scared or hurt you how could you know to avoid it the next time you ran into it? Besides, I've done the whole 'no emotions' thing. Trust me, we're a lot better off with them than without them.

[And there went the anonymity to those who know Lea.]

Also? You're a major creep.

No, but they are closely tied together, at least where I'm from. And emotions are the more durable of the two; even magic that removes access to memories can't completely get rid of the emotions attached to them.

[He's not gonna even comment on the misunderstanding of his insult, though it is noted.]
