action | genessia
[Her arrival was common: Waking in the strange pod, stepping into shallow water, acquiring printed pamphlets along with a holographic presentation... Fayet folds the papers into origami cranes, which rest in her palm for only a brief moment. Which a breath, they take off flying as if they were real birds.
She hums in amusement at her own magical ability. For now, these first few hours, she'll take it easy. Fayet heads off down the streets of Genessia, with no shoes on her feet and her long lilac hair trailing behind her.]
Interesting... You there. [The young woman points, addressing a stranger with friendly authority in her voice,] How long have you been held captive in this "Genessia?"

Salutations. Genessia, correct? That's how I should greet the general public here? But then, how should I greet our supposed captors? Hm.
How about "thank you?" Thank you, Genessia. For creating an indestructible cage, with lives from so many other worlds-- No, other unvierses. Other omniverses, I'm sure! This is the most excellent place for me to begin. Yes, thank you for this cage and all of these people.
But I'd like to take over now. To all of you comfortable in Genessia: I'll be here now, keeping you content and satisfied. To those of you wishing to leave... Why? Why would you leave this entertaining experiment? Is there an effort in place to leave this place at all? Has any progress been made? Do let me know... I'd like to crush it as soon as possible, and stay with you all. Forever.

Nice thought, but the one I thought could do that is long gone and probably ain't ever comin' back. So maybe money'll buy me happiness instead.
[Yeah right.]
I do try to make my presence known. Gale Reinhardt, Nova City Guardian. You'll have to excuse me and my treating things with suspicion. Part of the job and all that.

[Fayet chooses not to pursue the topic of lost love. It might be her backstory or something.]
Not at all. How wonderful that you care so deeply for the city of Nova. The citizens there must feel beloved and important.

[He blew all of his luck on his death saving throw years ago. He laughs, shaking his head.]
Aww, ya flatter me. Hopefully they won't be too disappointed when I step down in a couple months.
[He pauses.]
So, tell me, doll. What's this "paradise" you even want to create? 'cuz you picked a hell of a place to try to do it in.

[So Guardians can step down from their posts? She makes note of that.]
Wherever would you step down? Are you not happy? [...] If this is truly a world separate from the regular flow of space and time, then it should be a place for new beginnings. Somewhere... fresh. Without strings attached.

After a year in the job, I'd say I've had my fill of it. Plus there's voting every six months, so even if I don't step down, I could lose the spot anyway.
[He falls quiet, letting her words hang in the air before he shakes his head.]
I mean, for some of us, that's already the case. No one even dies permanently here, so there aren't that many strings attached.
But, I'm also a cynic. Some things sound a little too good to be true.

[Fayet herself is a cynic. No death? How is that good? No dying would be better: Once you've gone through the mentality of a dying person, you're changed anyway.
However, she keeps these thoughts to herself. They're hard for mortals to understand.]
Skepticism is healthy. I look forward to the day when I defeat the doubt in your heart, then. A paradise will be possible.

If any of the current deputies try to take up the mantle after me, I don't think the city will have anything to worry about.
["Love" certainly wasn't the right word to use about how he feels. But he's slowly coming to hate that word anyway.]
If you pull it off, and peacefully at that, then I would welcome being wrong.
... what's even your name, anyway? Need to know who to thank for a potential paradise-to-be.
[Or to add to a watch list. You know. Same difference.]
