Trying to reach for the past

Who: Yuuki and anyone
What: It had been a while since many realizations and Yuuki is coming around to wanting to remember.
Where: Genessia - Library and outside it and Everglade

[Genessia Library]

[Yuuki was currently working at the library, stacking books and making sure returns that were meant to be back up today were in fact back in time. She made sure to write letters to those that were overdue. But all the time she kept quiet and to herself. Her mind had still been going through many things in her head. Who she thought she was... apparently was a lie. She wasn't human like she though, but in fact a pureblood. She even had a daughter with the guy she admired most. It had certainly been too much for her. But now she had time to let it settle she still wasn't sure what to do, except of course trying to make herself remember her life before the last thing she remembered, That day in the snow.

For now though, she clocked out. She was done for the day and she was kind of grateful. All that was left was for her to head on home. To a new place.]

[Everglade - Closed to Housemates.]
[She was quietly making her way back, the whole time her hand dangling close to her weapon. She wasn't sure if she would even expect anything, but never the less she kept her guard up until she got back home.]

Hi!

[Well then, Maka wasn't expecting to meet her coworkers any time soon, but as Yuuki is sorting she comes to sit down next to her. Just a regular teenage girl by all accounts, Maka smiles briefly to show that she's not going to bite off the other girl's head before looking over the sorting to see if she can help.]

Need some help? I'm still new, but I think I've got the gist of how things work here.

[She glanced over slightly, looking at the other before giving a smile.]

As they say, every little helps. [She soon glances at the rather large pile she was suppose to be working with. She figured she wouldn't be able to finish it on her own, at least not in a day. After taking a book off the pile passing it along and grabbed another.]

I guess I should officially welcome you to the team, although I've found it's just me usually... Unless you count the natives but they aren't as talkative even after work.

Thanks, my name's Maka! I'm happy to be on the team.

[As if that's not the first thing you should say, A+ social skills Maka.]

That's how it is back at home, too, honestly...I'm usually the only one in the library. Other kids say that being sent there is a punishment.

[Then again a place that's quiet and full of books would be something like punishment in a murder-fight-to-death school. Maybe?? Anime life.]

[Yuuki had to admit she wasn't one usually found in a library, but stacking books was an easy enough job and the pay was at least decent enough for now.]

So I guess a job like this is a good job for you then. [Said with a smile, it was nice there was someone here who generally liked the library.]

So how are you adapting here so far?

Mm, fine. Some people from my world came along with me, my dad and two of my friends, they're...doing all right now, I think, but my partner still grumbles about the idea of having to get a job.

[She's saying it in a good-natured way, really.]

[She couldn't help but laugh a little bit at that. The people who arrived with her weren't as bothered about having to work. Then again she knew they could get any job they wanted without batting an eyelid.]

Work isn't the most fun thing, but there is a reason people do it. I mean if it weren't for some people who I live with, I probably wouldn't be working.

Oh. I don't mind, I like working.

[Maka please.]

The only reason I bug him about it is because partners have to be equal, we were taught that in school anyway.

That's good. We need people who like to work since I'm not sure all do.

[Well... she was the first she heard someone say that. Colour her surprised never the less.]

Oh. What kind of school?

[Nope, she's pretty aware that a lot of people don't like working. It's hard to not look down her nose on people like that, but whatever, she'll just work to make up for them.]

The Death Weapon Meister Academy. Meisters like me are trained to use Weapons like my partner Soul. [So yes, she literally meant partner as in someone she works with, not boyfriend or something weird like that.]

Eh...but all I've been doing is talking about myself. What about you? What's your name?

[Yuuki couldn't help but pause in her work for a moment. She had no idea what she was talking about, but she thought that was to be expected at least. People weren't weapons at least where she was from, but she figured in others worlds... it could be possible. She'd just have to accept it.]

Soul is a person, right? But their also a weapon. [Just going to check.]

Ah, I'm Yuuki Cross, although people I know have told me my real name is something different. But then again having people from my future makes it true, but still... Do the people you know come from further along than you?

Yes, he can turn into a scythe.

[A smile, she shakes her head.]

No, we're all from the same time so far. [And that's both good and bad in some cases, since she's learning the emotional baggage from the end is much heavier than expected. But she won't bother Yuuki with silly things like that.] Yuuki...it's a pretty name, it means snow in one writing, doesn't it? My mom's Japanese, so she taught me a little bit before she left.

[She couldn't help but be a little amazed. A person who can turn into a weapon, she would have never thought such a thing could ever happen, but it does. Not counting what certain vampires could do of course. That was different.]

Oh wow, that actually sounds rather impressive. [All she had was a pole that she had been told was at its weakest state right now, which was kind of a downer but she wouldn't let it get to her too much.] That's good, at least there it wouldn't be too much confusion. [Like it was in her case anyway.]

It's one meaning, I'm also told my version of Yuuki means tender or gentle. My whole name means tender or gentle princess. [The more you know.] That's what I was told at least.

[When Yuuki returns to their home, she'd find Kaname in his favorite spot in the entire house, the living room. The fire was burning coolly. Kaname was lying on the Victorian couch not far from the window and the fire. All the curtains around him were thick as to block the sun as he slept. He wanted to be the first to greet Yuuki as she came home, but everything he's been doing the past few weeks was taking a toll on him. Thus, he found himself sleeping past sunset.]

[Yuuki had put the keys down at the side as she quietly walked down the hallway. She noticed the very faint light of the fireplace and had been curious enough to go check it out. Upon seeing Kaname fast asleep on the sofa she started to look around and see if there was a blanket or anything she could use to cover him up, after all she thinks he could get cold should the fire go out.

So trying not to wake him up she tip toes around, causing a creak in the floorboards and making her stop mid-step and hoping that didn't wake him.]

[The moment her keys hit a solid surface, it was enough to stir Kaname from his sleep. At first, he thought it was Rima or Ichijou, since he was still half asleep, it was hard to ascertain from the scent. But her tiny feet and the way she was walking cautiously told Kaname everything he needed to know. If it was their vampire companions, they could move around with ease and with absolute silence.

When she approached, he had his eyes still closed, but a smile formed on his features.] Yuuki.

,small>[She had been so close, at least that is what she assume as she froze in place, her heart skipping a beat after the shock. She had been hoping he would stay asleep but apparently that was never meant to be.]

It seems your awake then Kaname-sama. Sorry if I woke you.

[Slowly, Kaname's lids open to reveal a gentle expression fixed on Yuuki. He moves towards the backrest of the chair to give Yuuki a spot to sit beside his prone form.]

I was supposed to wake up anyway. There is no need for you to apologize.

[She still felt like she had to in some way. Sometimes it is just best to let sleeping dogs lie after all, especially since there would be a reason for them to sleep in the first place.]

But you were asleep. I feel bad.

[Slowly he raised his body. He sat there and placed his hand gently on the space beside him.]

I truly do not mind. Why don't you sit with me.

[She moved her hands and placed them lightly in front of her. This felt more awkward than she first thought, but she followed orders and moved to sit down. The whole time her hands kept to the front of her.]

[Kaname didn't make a move to inch closer to Yuuki. Instead, he simply sat there. His eyes clearly fixed on her stiffened form.]

Is Yuuki still upset with me?

[She kept an eye on her hands, shaking her head slightly.]

It's not that at all. I'm not upset, I'm just trying to focus and understand everything. It doesn't help that in doing that things feel more awkward than normal.

If it helps, I was greatly opposed to you losing your true childhood memories.

[As he said this, he had a saddened expression. His eyes clearly focused on the ring with the seal of the Kuran in his right index finger.]

I did not wish for you to suffer this way.

[She shook her head slightly. It was fine with her, but it was also confusing at the same time. But she knows no matter how much she tried to think past that night all those years ago, those memories that might help her understand the reasoning was always going to be put of her reach. She felt like she should accept that by now as she looked at her hands.]

It's fine, I'll be fine. I may not ever remember things without being told, but I guess that's something I should expect by that. I just need to put what pieces I have back together.

[For a while, Kaname was silent and unresponsive. He really badly wish he could give Yuuki all her memories back. Instead, all he could do was just watch her suffer through it once more. He never wished for this.

After a while, he rested his forehead against Yuuki's shoulders. His face hidden against her back.]

It's hard to understand, but this was for your safety. It was a steep price to pay, but our mother paid it to keep you safe.

[She glanced to the floor. She understood that or she supposed she was suppose to understand. But when she thought about it if she was to forget there was such a reason and one that should be left alone.... even if she was more than a little curious about the reasons behind it or even her past before she was five.]

I guess there couldn't be any other reason for it. As I said I'm fine with it all. Maybe I should go tidy up a bit, I've been at work all day after all and some of the books are more than a little dusty.

[Slowly a smile emerged once more upon his immaculate features and he nodded. As always, Yuuki was always very active, very industrious.]

Alright, take your time. Also, I went to purchase some clothes for Kimiko earlier. You'll find a dress or two added to your closet. [More like two dozen dresses. After all, working in Nova City made him earn more money, and spending it on Everglade or in Fayren saved a lot of money.]

Oh, thank you Kaname-sama.

[She gives a small bow and a smile, she was thankful for the things he does and she does wonder often about is she was worthy enough for him. But never the less she was a little happier.]

I'll go try one on, see what it is like. [She moves and heads off to her room. It takes a while but she is soon washed and dressed in one of the dresses. It was beautiful she had to admit as she went to head back downstairs wondering if he had fallen asleep or not again.]
