Where: In a undisclosed location that is not Kukui's usual basement like in Alola.
When: Backdated to around early to mid event

[It's not every day that two Pokemon Professors got to collaborate on anything scientific. Even less often they did so to investigate the portal anomalies. Kukui went into this wondering if this is related to the ultra wormholes from home, only to be both disappointed and relieved.

During the tiring and emotionally draining search, the professors found and brought home a peculiar hat. All of his Pokemon could see it, but treated it as if it couldn't be interacted with. Incineroar in particular was holding the hat, but acted like it wasn't really there, thus seemed confused about what to do with it, despite knowing what hats are for.]

This is really throwing me for a big ol' U-Turn, cousin. Incineroar doesn't seem to know what to do with it. Here... [Kukui takes The hat from the Pokemon to pass it to his Kalosian colleague.] How does Garchomp act with it?

[This was certainly a mind-boggling problem indeed. As Sycamore accepted the hat from Kukui, he felt through its texture, which he can't tell if it's made of fabric or leather despite its appearance. Even as he offered it to his Mach Pokemon, all she can react was a head tilt while scratching her head gently with her claw, who is also confused at what it is or what is she going to do with the hat.

Seeing this, Sycamore nods no to his Alolan colleague.]

It's the same with Garchomp as well. It's as if to them, it doesn't exist to their perspective. Even if I feel through the hat, I can't seem to tell the texture if it's made of leather.

[Kukui nodded in acknowledgement. The hat is clearly visible and tangible, and yet machines and animal instinct can't sense it. Kukui thoughtfully strokes his goatie for a moment before he smiles at Garchomp.]

Garchomp. Why not try taking a Bite out of it? Give it a nice, big Crunch, yeah!

[It didn't take long for Sycamore and even his Garchomp to stare at the Alolan professor in disbelief.]

I don't know if it's a good idea to try and damage the hat. Besides, Garchomp doesn't know either of those attacks.

[What the professors and the Mach Pokemon doesn't know is that a certain Water/Psychic-type who was let out to swim in a mini-aquarium nearby caught wind of their conversation and before anyone react, he quickly jumped from the aquarium and grabbed the hat with his toothy mouth.]

[Kukui was about to suggest something else, when the very thibg he was about to suggest makes the first movd. He chuckles at the sight of such a sassy Pokemon.]

Atta boy, Bruxish! Give it a good chomp and let us know if it's as real to you as it is to us, okay?

[Sycamore didn't say anything as he watches his Gnash Teeth Pokemon chomped through the hat. Yet after a few seconds, his expression turned into confusion as he throws the away towards his trainer's hands, which he then sees something strange.]

That's odd. Bruxish managed to Bite through the hat and bend. Yet there are no signs of tears and holes where his teeth supposed to be.
