[His arrival a few days ago had been less than unsightly considering one minute he was holding a bloody and injured Kaito and the next he was transported to a place like this. He'd searched for hours for his injured teammate and it wasn't until dawn had arrived that he slowly came to terms with his new circumstances. He sensed them - Purebloods. It wasn't until he got a better grasp of this place that Zero decided to use the small communication device.

The recording turned on showing a stiff looking hunter whose lips thinned into a grim line.]

The rules of the Association still apply.

[And with that simple sentence, the Hunter cemented his stance.]

[Shiro looks thoughtful, and slightly disappointed.]

What's the Association, then? Should Shiro still know the rules?

[It was still part of their rules to keep the existence of vampires from the human population, so Zero wasn't so apt to talk - not that he ever was - when he didn't know her association.]

That depends on what you are.

Shiro is... Shiro.

[But wait... she's more than just that, now. Shiro strikes a proud pose, setting her hands on her hips and grins.]

Shiro is a Deadman.

[No, that's not the same thing as a vampire, Zero. That's not necessarily less dangerous, though.]

[A look.]

....... I see.

[Vampires weren't dead in their world. They were simply another species, so the declaration had the Hunter thinking there was something wrong with her considering she looked pretty alive to him.]

[Well that would be because Deadmen aren't actually dead... But he's right about thinking there's something wrong with her.]

Oh! Mister Purple Eyes knows what a Deadman is. That's super cool, right?

So... can Shiro be in the Association too?

[He frowned at that description. He wasn't a Mister!]

It's Zero.

[He stared at her with a disapproving look. She was way too cheerful for his liking.]

No.

[Misunderstanding, go! The frown, the disapproving look and the way he said that... had Shiro believe that 'it's zero' was the man's answer to her 'it's cool'. Her face turned red with shock and anger.]

It's not zero, it's cool. You're saying that because you've never met Aceman and you're just jealous you're not a Deadman yourself!

[So there. And calling him 'Mister' was only Shiro's way of being polite. Reverting to the 'you' is not a good sign.

Zero's next snapped answer managed to anger her even more. Her red eye shot daggers at him for a minute before she just looked away, chewing on the inside of her cheek and pouting.]

That's not fair. Shiro answered all the questions.

[Clearly not in the mood to deal with this but ~~he has a heart~~ it wasn't like this was the first time he'd come across misunderstandings. With a place like this it was probably more common than not.

He sighed, and ran a hand down his face.]

My name is Zero. [He explained. If she'd been older he'd probably snap at her more, but she was still a kid and Zero wasn't that terrible.]

Who's Aceman? [He asked more out of obligation than actual curiosity. He supposed the cheerful demeanor was better than this.]

I'm alive, not dead. [He responded with his own misinterpretation.]

[She actually looked back at him when he pointed at her misunderstanding. But it was a defiant stare, like a cat wondering if you're trying to trick it with a snack. But she doesn't look angry anymore.]

Zero-san?

[Shiro blinks.] Of course, Zero-san is alive. Zero-san would not be talking with Shiro if he was dead. [Sure he could be a ghost, but still.

Then she ponders his previous question and gives him a serious look.] Shiro will tell Zero-san who Aceman if Zero-san tells Shiro what the Association is.

[He raises a brow. If she knew he was alive then why did she go on with being dea----Light eyes land on her.]

What's a dead man?

[She ponders his question for a bit, thinking of the best way to answer.] Someone strong who can fight and win the Carnival Corpse. Someone like Aceman.

[Carnival Corpse? Aceman again. He didn't understand. Was this something to do with her world instead of this place? Either way, he at least got something from that - she knew how to fight. He'd have to keep an eye on her if he ever came across her.]

You can fight. [A statement.] How strong are you?
