Hallo! [Waggles fingers at the screen in a wave.] I'm Rose Tyler and I run Torchwood here, pretty much de facto. Long story. Anyway... We are hiring for just about anything, depending on your interests! But I'm stopping all investigations into the void beyond the barriers, [Holds up a finger.] Unless you want to go back to your own time. Because I've had like... [Mentally counting and holds up her hand.] Five scientists, engineers, best friends, and even lovers, [She might be a touch tipsy to say that last part. Then again, this is the girl who got arrested for sex on a carousel after hours, so maybe not!] all disappear pretty much the second they started their own investigations on it. And maybe it's coincidence. But five? Isn't that a lot? You only need three for a pattern. Bluh. BUT If you DO want to go back to your time, I'll give you all of the Doctors' data that is left behind and the sensors and the analyzers and maybe even your own lab, because I've got like... three now that are doing nothing. It's terrible. I even have a TARDIS of my own?

Yeahhhhhhhhh. So you know. I'm still running the company and all, but I'm taking a mini-half-sort-of-semi-vacation to work more on Uni and bass and band and OH! OH!!! You should all sign up to join the Professor's music contest, okay? It'll be really fun, really great for your image, and you might win a lotta red bills, yeah? No Losing. Okay! See ya around!

Yeah yeah, let's go do things. Doesn't have to be this second, but as soon as you've got time, yeah? I'm just... like I said, focusing more on music. And with Uni ended for the season I'm sort of already making the entire talking points for next semester and research and assignments. Beats trying to analyze plasma. I mean luckily... I always knew one of us could leave without warning, so I had him set up the stuff in a way it keeps runnin' without us, but... yeah. I can't touch it yet. Just can't.

If we fly a TARDIS into a void we are doing so as safely as we can, alright? I don't mind taking a look at the data you've got. Given your worries though, I can also wait for it.

[Rose, you are getting such a big hug when he sees you next. Big comforting spinny-hug too.]

I'll make time for you. Come by Capsule Corp, or the Castle, or whatever. Call me, and I'll *make* the time for you okay?

[EVIL EVIL CHUCKLES.] The TARDIS' soul and heart is made of the time vortex bound up and then inside out of it. This lets her travel her universe. The Doctor gave Meta a piece of her coral so we can try to have one in Pete's Universe, but it'll take a lotta growin', just to make her able to handle that universe, and to make her her own baby.

There's no time vortex in the void. Not even an alternate universe one.

Soooo....

[AKA: IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO SAFELY PUT THE TARDIS IN THE VOID :V She is specifically not able to handle the void and not a void ship. She is completely blind in the void, and her heart and soul are basically separated from her by the void stuff.]

[Rose might be a little too exhilarated by the prospect, nevertheless.]

[But she softens up instantly at the last part and nods.]

Same, Trunks. I'm not even as messed up as when Jack first came back, I promise. 'Cause I know... what to do with myself this time around, yeah? And I don't have to wrestle with myself. Back then, I had to hold myself back from just clinging and crying and apologizin' all over Jack, and I was all worried about psychic stuff and.... This time... [Shrug.] I've lost the Doctor a lot of times. And this time, he's still with me. He's not the same. Guitarist isn't still yanno... my Bad Dog. But I still love him, he still loves me, and he's here, and I can breathe him in, and when I was trapped in Dad's universe... I didn't have that. It was a lot worse. I promise.

But ice cream and drinks. It'll be fun, yeah?

[There are some startled blinks, and then he's scrambling for a notebook to try and take notes. Not that it all makes sense, or he's sure he got it all, but...still. Pausing with that drawn out sooooooooooo she gives, and then giving her a look. A very stern look.]

No suicide runs, Rose. ANY of your Doctors would never forgive me, and I wouldn't forgive myself.

[This belief goes deep. He has spent his whole life trying to protect people from overwhelming odds and certain death. No letting someone he cares about seek it out.

Fortunately, she softens up and he breathes a deep breath. Trying to calm down a bit himself.]

Messed up or not, Rose--you're my friend. I wish I could fix more things--all I ever wanted was to try and save everyone. But you aren't alone. You do have your Doctor in a way. And you have friends. Even beyond just the ice-cream and drinks, you need me--you call.

[With another tired smile, but genuine affection in his eyes.]

All the ice-cream you want, or cakes, or whatever. Tabs on me. Drinks aren't as unlimited, but tab is also on me. We'll take it from there and find some fun.

It's not a suicide run. It's just going where no one even TARDIS have gone before. And without void navigation. I think the Doctor said Gallifrey -- his home planet, did have some void tech. And I know daleks have done it. And even I kind of... well no, I completely cheated and just bypassed the void. [Snaps fingers.] Lickity split. But we wouldn't die. Not sure how we'd get out if I can't find a way to navigate it though. I guess I could ask the Professor, but he'll think like you did that I'm bein' a bit darker than normal and plannin' something daft. WELL, it IS pretty daft, come to think.

[Giggles.] Thanks Trunks. Just company's good enough I think. When I lost the Doctor the firs-- [Headshake.] The other times, I just needed people, yeah? To remind me...

[Her eyes dim.]

[A gulp.]

Ahhhhh -- [Rubs an arm over her eyes! FIERCE!] It's so daft. I know he's not gone forever. Well I mean... he is... but he's still... here. He turns into Bowtie who turns into Guitarist who turns into Lady-Doctor. [Deep breath.]

But when I lost him I kept sayin', "Who will hold his hand?" And now... He's got people, yeah? He's got loads o' friends. He's not alone. He even gets his planet back. But it's not the same. It's not Bad Dog. Bad Dog is gone. I dunno. It's a whole... sunsets only last while they last, yeah? Yeah.

[Tight grin.] But thanks. I've got people to hold my hand and eat ice cream with me, and you're right. He'd want that. [A small laugh and another headshake.] First month I was in Pete's Universe I must have gone to the wall I lost him at every day. And Mum would always say, "Is this really what he'd want? Would you really want him to see you like this?" and I knew it wasn't, but I didn't care. When he sent me back to her before dying, and regenerating, the first time that I saw, yeah? He said I should have a fantastic life for him. Without him. And I refused then. I refused then, in Pete's Universe... but I'm not now. I'm not completely without him though.

I'm not even sure I can say he's without me??? I mean it's all so... mad... isn't it? Like does he cease to exist? Or only in memory? Or is it just in like some weird stasis bank between any other pockets people get kidnapped to like this, yeah? [Her heart seizes tightly at that. If he is without her, someplace else... then he needs her, doesn't he? Even if he doesn't remember anything. And then there's the Jack and it's all so--]

[She just shakes her head.]

He left me a hologram again. I haven't had the guts to play it yet. [TIGHT TIGHT GRIN.] I will. When I'm ready to get very very drunk and cry my heart out and not lean on Guitarist. Hologram is his style. It's how he told me to have a fantastic life without him, and how he said goodbye when I was stuck in Pete's Universe. Kind of starting to hate them now.

[Quiet and listening, but he won't deny he's relieved to hear it won't be a suicide run. At least, not intentionally.]

Lemme know if you wanna go beat up some holograms--I have a program set up for just that at Holodeck'd. Then we can get ice cream, and drink alright? If you need cute and fuzzy animals, I'll borrow Snowball from Bulla.

You're definitely not alone this time, Rose. It's never easy, loosing someone...but we can't let it make us give up.

[Whines.] I'd have to get really mad at him to do even pretend violence. He sort of... treasured every time I came up with peaceful solutions, you know? [Rubs the back of her neck.] But yeah, playing with Snowball and her litter mate is a good idea.

[Giggles, and bites a finger.] When I was fighting with Fluffy the first year I was here I used to run off and play with puppies instead o' goin' to the shootin' range with Jack. Even when I was mad at him, I couldn't bring myself to do that, 'cause o' how much he'd hate it.

........I have respect for him, but this whole idea of 'no violence' is still so very alien to me.

[Said with some amount of wry amusement.]

So you can definitely come play with Snowball then. We'll play the rest by ear, so to speak.

It's alien to everyone. His own people died in a war for the universe. That's why. Two genocides was two too many. Although... it wasn't completely. Long story.

Everything with the Doctor is a long story.

[Not said meanly though, just with wry-resignation.]
